11th episode of the seventh season of ''The Simpsons''

“Would you buy an NHL game with Steven Lorentz on it?” “I mean… yes?” Shove this up your stocking! Bree and Mike Stephens get surprisingly all up in their feelings for a classic Christmas comfort watch: The Simpsons Season 7's “Marge Be Not Proud.” We start Freud-raging, discussing the dynamic between mothers and sons, tough love, the lack of 90's schmaltzy Christmas movies, the pain of Bart, and, of course, video game culture, uh huh?. Plus, a lot about Lawrence Tierney, that's right. Well, try to have a Merry Christmas.
It's the holiday season here at FFD studios, so we've gone back and revisited this classic that sees Bart accidentally burn down the family Christmas tree and presents. There's lots to love (Brockman's news reports, Homer's parking hack, etc) however it also features Dando's LEAST favourite Simpsons moment of the golden era. It's not the best Christmas "episode", that's saved for with "Marge Be Not Proud" or the pilot, however it's arguably the best Simpsons Christmas "special". Unfortunately Guy missed out on his cajun sausage this week, but need not worry since Nicola baked some Christmas trees for Dando and bloody spearheads for Guy as a consolation.Support the Four Finger Discount Network for EARLY & AD-FREE access to every show we produce, as well as 100 hours of exclusive content! Marge and Bart bond over tandem-bike rides and Homer enters an arm-wrestling competition. Honestly, the Homer plot was utterly pointless, although there was a lot of heartfelt moments with Marge and Bart. It at times gave us "Marge Be Not Proud" vibes. Enjoy! Bart steals a copy of Bonestorm and Marge doesn't see him as her special little guy anymore. Stealing the show is the store detective, Don Brodka, played by Lawrence Tierney. There are some AMAZING tidbits about his craziness from this episode and from Seinfeld! And Penny manages to lock Rob's keys in his central locking car. [Synopsis at 13:45]

In today's Maudecast, we scoop up the slop, dish out the detritus and go through the Maudebins as we look at credits, commercials and couch gags. Heck of a rider through them slivers! Also we are trying to deal with all of our Internet Museums burning down!!! After last episodes unfiltered, unbridled content chaos, the MFIDBTHR Team have decided to slow things down this week in a sort of “Cleaning up house” episode. What? Now? With so much future content? You already know the answer. What if I were to tell you Maude was in 90% of episodes between Seasons 2 and 20? You'd think I was INSANE wouldn't you. Well I am. But also she is, thanks to the Opening Credits Sequence- created by Kevin Petrilak! It may only be a fleeting glimpse, but it's a glimpse nonetheless. Back in Season 4's “Marge Vs. The Monorail”- written by Conan O'Brien and directed by Rich Moore- before she was being shut down by Homer for her attempt to discuss a blazing town fire, Maude was appearing in her very first couch gag! Then we return to our regular Maude timeline for a look at “Marge Be Not Proud”- written by Mike Scully and directed by Stephen Dean Moore- and Maude doesn't show up in person for this one, yet she still shows up. Finally to round things up, we head back to 1993 and take a look at our first out of show clip. That's right, in 1993 Butterfinger came knocking with a big Honeycomb cheque and Maude weren't not saying no to that. Please, for Christ's sake, enjoy.
In this episode we look at a Christmas classic from season 7: Marge Be Not Proud. We also discuss unwanted presents, creepy Santa pics, and the sporting event of the century known as Slippery Stairs. Cori continues her clapping to the annoyance of Bryan and threatens him to not edit them out, so sorry dear listener if they are annoying! We had a lot of fun on this episode and it shows by all of the laughter on this one. If you're, "Looking for excitement?!?!?!" You've come to the right place. Thank you as always for your support! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

30 years ago, The Simpsons started and an iconic piece of pop culture was born. So iconic in fact that Double Edged Double Bill is breaking their usual movie schtick to talk about it! Adam and Thomas are covering four episodes that show the highs and lows of this TV institution. First up, the good picks of Marge Be Not Proud and Team Homer that show us just how much our favorite animated family can make us laugh and cry. Then, the bad picks of Simpsons Bible Stories and Moe Goes From Rags to Riches which showed us how much the show can just make us cry. Plus, our duo posits all the important questions. Which animated classic show has Adam never seen? Which Simpsons voice actor makes us feel sad? Is there really another episode on the films of 2019 coming up later this week?! Day 24: The Season 2 finale brings Advent to a close with the first Christmas special I ever remember watching, 1978’s “Christmas Eve on Sesame Street.” On This Episode Mike Westfall (@fallwestmike, sometimes-food enthusiast with a taste for rotary phones. Erin Evans (@mserinmevans), tiny figure skater dancing to the slowest, clumsiest rendition of Feliz Navidad. Joey O. (@ImGonnaDJ24), obsessive vampire with the world’s greatest ice-skating cape, from Y-Not Radio and Words with Nerds). Topics and Tangents My taped copy of this is interrupted in the middle by a WHYY telethon with Philadelphia TV legend Ed Cunningham. The Count’s amazing ice-skating cape. The wibbly-wobbly physics of Oscar’s trash can. Olivia married the Predator. The subway ride reveals an actual clue into how to get to Sesame Street. A cameo by the seldom remembered Mr. Macintosh, usually a fruit vendor, here selling Christmas trees. If you want to go read about Northern Calloway (David) and his off-screen troubles and tragic death, go right ahead. The adorable 2-year-old girl too little for her own vocabulary trying to explain that Santa pushes a magic button to go down chimneys is now in her 40s. That time Big Bird got lost in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and got everyone locked inside overnight in “Don’t Eat the Pictures.” An oral history of Mr. Snuffleupagus’s revelation as not imaginary. Oscar holds a broom like it’s Not His Broom. Ernie’s pajamas look like the background of the “Trololo” video. Marge loses faith in bart after he gets caught trying to steal a copy of 'Bonestorm' from the Try-N-Save. One of the most heartfelt episodes of all time!
Be it Bonestorm or Putting Challenge, if you grew up in the 1990s there had to be at least one game you wanted for Xmas. Well, this holiday classic captures that spirit as well as the childhood shame and a parent's disappointment that feels all too real. Listen along with us and special guest Dave Rudden! The season finale of needs more dog. We answer nothing about the island and it ends with us all in a church. You'll probably cry.
Much like yesterday with Mitch picking "Astro Boy", today we go with one of Joe's favourites in "The Simpsons". There were a ton of Christmas themed episodes to choose from, but we went with the Season 7 epsiode "Marge Be Not Proud" that revolves around Bart wanting the latest video game for Christmas, but Marge not wanting to get it for him. It's hard to find full Simpsons eps online, but we did find an editied version on Vimeo if you want to check it out for yourself.
