Click here to learn more about The Handwritten Heritage Cookbook Starter Kit Welcome and Happy Thanksgiving!!! This is a very special episode of The Storied Recipe podcast! Rather than diving deep into one story, we're diving deep into one holiday - telling the story of Thanksgiving from the perspective of almost 30 families. I want to personally thank every single contributor for taking their time to make this episode for us. These vignettes, sometimes funny, often poignant, and so very relatable have cheered my Thanksgiving season and helped me slow down and remember, reflect, and above all choose gratitude this season. In fact, my original plan was to cram this episode in, almost as a bonus or extra episode, but the more I listened to your stories, the more I realized I wanted to lengthen this Thanksgiving season. We begin, surprisingly enough, not with an American, but with a Greek-Australian who reminds us that far, far from being a national holiday belonging to one or two countries, Thanksgiving is an ancient tradition. Practicing gratitude is a tenant, teaching, and calling of every religion, it is, in fact, a need of the human heart. Listen to The Thanksgiving Episode Now! More Episodes for Your Thanksgiving Season! The Gratitude Episode Another crowd-sourced episode from the Storied Recipe Community. Contributors share the things, big and small, for which they are thankful. Another amazing opportunity to pause, reflect, and embrace the Thanksgiving Season! https://thestoriedrecipe.com/thanksgiving-spirit/ A Turkey Fit for a Queen A dream guest - Paul Kelly is entertaining, informative, and down-to-earth. The restaurant industry abounds in rags-to-riches stories, but few of the accounts illustrate the theme as vividly as the tale of Carl Karcher, the onetime feed store worker who founded Carl's Jr. In the process, he pioneered practices and policies that are still being adopted 83 years later. Ever wonder who came up with the standard fast-casual model of running orders to a fast-food customer's table, as designated by some sort of flag or table marker? Carl's Jr. was doing it decades ago. Indeed, Karcher's brainchild was in many ways the precursor of fast casual, a chain that sought to differentiate itself as a notch above traditional fast-food joints. But that's only a small part of the story. Karcher parlayed a $326 hot dog cart into a multi-billion-dollar empire, a history worth knowing, per se. But the twists to that account add plenty of drama and color. This week's edition of Restaurant Rewind traces Karcher's rise to riches, along with the bad moves that sucked them away. It's a cautionary tale for any business person, regardless of what trade they're in. Give a listen by pressing Play.
Owning Manhattan on Netflix has become one of the most watched shows on Netflix. Ryan Serhant, founding broker of Serhant, opened the brokerage in NYC only 2 years ago. Serhant is now operating in 8 states across the US and it's quickly growing. Jordan March, a star of the show and one of Ryan's top agents, has quite a story of struggle and hardship with moments of not knowing how he'd pay rent and not having enough money for food. Jordan started working at a different Real Estate brokerage before Serhant but struggled through the 08 recession. After working in film and taking other work managing over 100 people at a technology firm where he closed 500 million in sales, Jordan knew he would eventually return to Real Estate. Jordan joined Ryan in the beginning of the brokerages opening when Ryan had no real plans of how he was going to grow. Jordan joined him nonetheless and the company has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since. You definitely don't want to miss this one! SUBSCRIBE, LIKE, AND SHARE! I'm sure you've heard it before – if you want to create a connection with your ideal client or customer, you need to tell your story.Heck, if you're a long-time listener of this podcast or you've come to any of my masterclasses – you'll know this is something I speak about a lot. And one of the most common objections I hear when it comes to sharing your story is – “but Tahryn, I'm not that interesting.” or “I don't have a rags to riches story.”Firstly – same! My idea of a good time is staying home with my dog and doing abso-fuckin-lutely nothing. So I totally hear you on that, but today's episode of the How I Do Content Podcast is going to blow up the notion that you need a rags-to-riches story to share your story. You up for the challenge? Dwayne makes the case for Collingwood's 2022 season to be the greatest rags-to-riches story if they win the flag.
Today I'm joined by Facebook strategist, Zoe Mckeown, an expert in growing engaged and profitable communities on Facebook. When building a community or an audience we often talk about the importance of sharing your story when trying to connect and resonate with others, but what if your business's backstory just isn't that elaborate or engaging? Well, today Zoe shares how you can build a loyal and engaged group, even if you don't have a juicy backstory or rags-to-riches tale. What You'll Learn In This Episode: - Success looks different to each of us so we don't all need to have the same backstory or goals to be successful, and why it's OK to be satisfied with where you are right now and not crave a 6 figure business. - Starting a Facebook group can feel like you're talking to yourself, but as Zoe explains this is a great opportunity to get creative and play around to find what works best for you and connects with your audience. - Why you can't blame the algorithm for the lack of traction in your Facebook group and what to do if your group feels flat. - How to create engaging conversations that build a loyal following on Facebook and Zoe's opinion on the future of Facebook groups. Mortadella is having a moment. But historically it's had a bad rap. So how did this deli meat – gifted to Australia by Italian migrants – go from prosciutto's poor cousin to a dish with cult status, ending up on t-shirts, caps, and the menus of the country's top fine diners? FYI is a new podcast by Broadsheet, Australia's go-to culture guide, about the stories we reckon deserve a closer look. The Punch Drunk Soul Podcast - Soul Alignment + Business Chats
Today I'm speaking with Genecia Alluora. Genecia Alluora is a former Miss Singapore turned business coach as the founder of Soul Rich Woman, the #1 female entrepreneur network in Southeast Asia that connects more than 200,000 women across the region in the ‘Soul F' membership program. She mentors thousands of women to bring their business and leadership brand online. Before establishing her coaching business, Soul Rich Woman, Genecia was an owner of a successful cafe retail chain. What is incredible about Genecia's story is that as young as 14 years of age, Genecia had to support herself through school where she was often bullied. Genecia has gone through the highs and lows of being a business owner which we share on this episode. How she went from being in a six-figure debt to becoming a millionaire in 2013, to how this fuelled her passion to support women to do the same - to own the F-word - Freedom in their lives. We touch on many things in this interview from building a memorable brand online, to being resourceful as you're starting your business, how to handle rejection and No's, the concept of value exchange and why it's important to charge for your work, 2 tips for getting out of debt, how to find a coach or mentor, and how to really define your niche online effectively. I appreciate Genecia's take on growing her business, as it's certainly different from mine and it's always nice to hear different perspectives. I teach more of a top down approach, starting with high ticket clients so you can earn an income to then create smaller, more affordable programs for the masses, whereas Genecia teaches the other way, a bottom-up approach. You don't want to miss this interview so buckle in and keep this party going! Oh but before we dive into this interview, as a reminder, if you are a new and aspiring coach who wants to create a high-impact, soul aligned coaching business and land paid clients in just a matter of 6 weeks or less - DM me now on Instagram and say “COACH”. I will follow up and show you how you can structure your signature coaching offering and land your first paid clients. Ok let's get into this interview! Be sure to let us know if you're listening by posting a screenshot of this episode and tagging us on instagram, Genecia is @@geneciaalluora and I'm at @punchdrunksoul and let us know what you think of this interview! Aha Moments: How to build a memorable brand online Why Genecia had to knock on doors to get sponsored for Miss Singapore and what it taught her about business How to handle rejection and No's in your business The concept of value exchange and why it's important to charge for your work 2 tips for getting out of debt that Genecia learned after getting out of 6-figure debt her self How to find a coach or mentor that truly aligns with you What your niche really is and how to define it online effectively Links: Check out Genecia's website www.soulrichwoman.com Find Genecia on Facebook at Soul Rich Woman or Genecia Alluora Follow Genecia on Instagram at @geneciaalluora or @soulrichwomanasia Follow Genecia on Twitter @geneciaalluora or @soulrichwoman Follow Genecia on LinkedIn at Genecia or Soul Rich Woman Check out Genecia's Pinterest at Genecia Alluora Interested in learning more about Path to Freedom?
