The rich young ruler didn't just have wealth—he trusted it (Matthew 19:16–30). His money gave him a false sense of security and self-sufficiency, convincing him he was in control. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef shows why Scripture repeatedly warns against that trap and calls believers to live differently. Paul's instruction to Timothy is direct: don't be arrogant, and don't put your hope in wealth “which is so uncertain,” but in God who provides richly (1 Timothy 6:17). Jesus goes even further, urging us to stop stockpiling temporary treasures and instead invest in eternity—because what you treasure reveals what you truly worship (Matthew 6:19–21). Dr. Youssef also exposes the deeper misconception behind the ruler's mindset: thinking salvation can be earned, purchased, or donated into existence. No amount of rule-keeping, good deeds, or financial generosity can reconcile a sinner to God. Jesus makes the point unmistakably: what is impossible with man is possible with God (Matthew 19:26). Only God can change a sinful heart, and only the blood of Jesus can secure forgiveness and eternal life. If you've been tempted to rely on resources, status, or self-effort for security, this devotional will redirect your hope to the only sure foundation: Christ alone. Prayer: God, thank You for sending Your Son to die on the cross for me. Help me to remember to put my hope in You every day, not in my finances. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. What happens when good gifts—money, success, stability—quietly become your trust? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef draws from two of Jesus' most sobering teachings about wealth. First, the story of the rich young ruler in Mark 10: a man who wanted to follow Jesus, yet couldn't release his grip on riches. Jesus offered him treasure in heaven, true security, and salvation—but his possessions held his heart so tightly that he walked away sorrowful. Then Dr. Youssef turns to Jesus' parable in Luke 12 of the rich landowner who expanded his barns and planned for a comfortable future—yet failed to plan for eternity. In a single night, everything changed, exposing the danger of living as though this life is all there is. This devotional is a timely reminder that the only refuge that stands in every storm is Jesus Christ. Markets rise and fall. Economies shift. Peace and turmoil come and go. But those who run to Christ are secure—life or death—because in Him, you already have everything you need. Prayer: Father, help me to press on in this life with whatever circumstances You have deemed for my good—whether riches or want—remembering the hope of glory that is mine today. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Today's MY Devotional has been provided by Leading The Way. The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. Our culture constantly tells us: get more—more money, more influence, more security, more success. But in today's MY Devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef flips that message with Scripture's radical Truth: the key to a faithful life isn't acquiring—it's giving God your all. When you truly grasp the price of your salvation, generosity stops feeling like duty and becomes gratitude. Dr. Youssef points to Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 5:14–15, reminding us that Christ didn't die so we could continue living for ourselves—He died and rose again so we would live for Him. Paul held tightly to two life-changing realities: Jesus took his place at the cross, and God called him as an ambassador to announce the cure for sin. That same Gospel motivation belongs to every believer today. You'll also hear why Paul urges Christians to offer themselves as living sacrifices—surrendering heart, mind, time, comfort, and resources to the Lord who is worthy of everything. If you've been chasing “success” the world's way, this episode will recalibrate your priorities and reignite your passion for Christ-centered living. Prayer: God, You have done so much for me. I want to give You all of me as a living sacrifice. Help me to keep these Truths about Your love for me and Your call on my life at the forefront of my mind so that I honor You rightly. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Today's MY Devotional has been provided by Leading The Way. The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. The foundation of American liberty is inseparably linked to Christianity—a truth our founders understood that we're rapidly forgetting. In this deeply reflective episode, Jesse Cope challenges listeners to honestly assess their spiritual dedication: Do we follow Christ only when it's convenient and popular, or do we remain steadfast through hardship?Drawing from Pilgrim's Progress, Jesse asks whether we follow our faith "when it's clothed in rags as willingly as we follow it when it's wearing golden or silver slippers." This powerful examination of consistency sets the stage for a broader exploration of how faith shapes both personal relationships and national character. The episode takes a fascinating turn as Jesse challenges the common Christian notion that "all people are equally good and bad." Through careful examination of Scripture from Matthew and Luke, he demonstrates how the Bible clearly indicates differing levels of judgment and accountability—a nuance often missed in contemporary religious discussions.Perhaps most compelling is Jesse's deep dive into Daniel Webster's profound writings on America's Christian foundations. Webster's declaration that "Whatever makes men good Christians makes them good citizens" and that Christianity is of "inestimable importance" to humanity provides historical validation for the podcast's central message: America's liberty was established upon Christian principles, not despite them.Jesse's thought experiment about heavenly versus earthly treasures hits particularly close to home: "If you could pull up an app and see your savings account in heaven alongside your earthly one, wouldn't that change how we act?" This vivid illustration challenges listeners to align their claimed priorities with their actual behaviors.Join the conversation about faith, liberty, and America's founding principles.
