"Hello everyone, I'm John Badger, the writer, director, and sound designer of Mercury Theatre Podcast. In case you are unfamiliar with the audio drama, Mercury Theatre Podcast is an anthology, where every episode is unrelated to the last. We have pirates, aliens, conspiracies, and everything in between. But, submitted for your listening pleasure today, is Time for Bed, Deuces. A story about a couple that adopts a new puppy after an unfortunate medical diagnosis. We also include outtakes at the end, which is always fun. That being said, I'll get out of the way, but don't turn that dial." cw: Death Transcript can be found at: https://www.mercurytheatrepodcast.com/Episodes/time-for-bed-deuces https://mercurytheatrepodcast.com Socials: https://www.instagram.com/mercurytheatrepodcast/

John Badger has been consuming audio dramas since childhood, listening to Let's Pretend, and The Shadow, among several others. Early during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, John determined to create his own audio drama, Mercury Theatre Podcast (named as an homage to Orson Welles' theatre production). Using the power of the internet and digital meetups, he cast voice talents from all over the world. Spending his time in the writing process, casting, directing, and post-production, John has had his hands in all aspects of the creation of audio dramas, all while holding full-time employment otherwise. While having held no official position within the performing arts arena, John considers this to be somewhat freeing, being able to think outside the box for unorthodox methods of creation. Since the creation of Mercury Theatre Podcast, John has written and produced another audio drama series, Universe25. Despite all his current audio drama endeavors and full-time employment, John has since created and guides a local haunted tour of his hometown in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He also spends his time with his two mini Australian Shepherds, watching TikToks, and drinking Old Fashioneds. The Mercury Theatre Podcast brings back the days of yesteryeear with a large cast of talented voice actors recruited from around the web to deliver weekly anthlogy plays. The mastermind behind this creative venture is John Badger, a latter day Orson Welles who writes most of the scripts and pre and post production tasks. Lisa, Aaron and I listened to quite a few from the anthology series and were particularly entertained by the shows about the Wright Brothers and The Denver Airport, in addition to the clever mock commercials peppered there in. Each episode of The Mercury Theatre podcast is between 25 to 30 minutes long, or only a fraction of the 30-plus hours John commits a week to to pre and post production. Our Spotify video this week includes of our cagy feline friend Solomon and lots of random pyro! So, you will not want to miss the visuals :). *PLEASE NOTE: This episode and "Staging a Murder" (Episode 1) were the first two episodes recorded on January 2, 2021. They were recorded back to back and we didn't realize the issue with the quality of the audio until after the recording was complete! We decided not to re-record in order to keep the spontaneity of the conversation true. However, we cleaned it up to the best of our ability and hope you enjoy it!! In episode 6 Candy and Ashley give you something to sink your teeth into when they explore the popular expression “Jumping the Shark.” The two not only discuss the origin and evolution of this well-known phrase, first coined by a group of college buddies but also take a deep dive into the episode of the popular TV series Happy Days that inspired this toothsome term. The episode ends with a discussion of other shows the two believe to have jumped the shark. Special thank you to John S. Badger from the Mercury Theatre Podcast for being our very first "Listener Testimonial!" Find out more at: mercurytheatrepodcast.com/
This is John Badger, Producer of Mercury Theatre Podcast, which is an anthological audio drama. Each episode is like a 30 minute audio movie. From discussing college in a time of Covid, to puppeteering, to anything in between. Paige Alena is an LA-based actor, writer, comedian, and singer. She's originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but moved to New York to study at Marymount Manhattan College in 2016. After graduating with a BFA in Acting in May 2020, she moved to Los Angeles to start her career. Paige loves to create joy through her art and has a passion for making people laugh. She's a Leo, her favorite Arizona iced tea flavor is lemon, and she owns at least one mug with her own Tweet on it, but please don't hold that against her.
