With Riri Williams stepping into the spotlight, the hosts explore her evolution from a gifted MIT student to a budding superhero. They also discuss how the show balances science, emotion, and legacy to fuel her journey.A Hero is Forged: Riri's Journey Begins in the Ironheart Series PremiereThe discussion begins with a close look at “Take Me Home,” which reintroduces Riri Williams in a post-Tony Stark world. The hosts praise the show for portraying her intelligence and emotional complexity. As Riri wrestles with grief and ambition, she also tries to define her future.Episode 102, “Will the Real Natalie Please Stand Up?”, dives deeper into her personal life. The panel notes how Riri's friendships and family dynamics help shape her values. The strong performances and grounded storytelling shine here. While the show delivers some exciting tech and action, its emotional depth stands out the most.Building the Suit, Finding Her VoiceThe hosts emphasize that the premiere is more about personal growth than superhero spectacle. Riri doesn't inherit a legacy; she constructs her own from scratch. Her DIY suit symbolizes her resourcefulness and independence. Moreover, her evolving relationship with Natalie creates tension and clarity. The second episode, in particular, challenges Riri to examine loyalty and self-reliance. These opening chapters build a tone that mixes vulnerability with determination. As a result, they set up a compelling character arc for the rest of the season.Resident Alien Continues: “The Lonely Man” and “Ties That Bind”In between Ironheart coverage, the panel shifts gears to Resident Alien. They review the latest episodes, “The Lonely Man” and “Ties That Bind.”In “The Lonely Man,” Harry's deepening isolation prompts him to confront uncomfortable truths about his alien nature. The team appreciates how Alan Tudyk blends comedy with emotion.Next, “Ties That Bind” tightens the emotional connections within the ensemble cast. The story expands its mystery without losing the small-town charm. According to the hosts, the show's writing stays sharp while exploring deeper alien mythology.Final Thoughts: Ironheart Series Premiere Kicks Off a New ChapterIn conclusion, the panel agrees that the Ironheart Series Premiere offers a refreshing and heartfelt addition to the Marvel universe. Riri Williams blends intellect and empathy in a way that redefines what a hero can be.Paired with strong episodes of Resident Alien, this week's Superhero Show Show brings smart analysis and passionate debate. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2025/06/binary-system-podcast-460-station-eleven-series-premiere-with-special-guest-hannah/The Binary System Podcast team has been getting a little better at TV lately, but we're still three years late in watching Station Eleven (based on the best-selling book that Kathryn reviewed way back in 2014). Fortunately, younger sister Hannah was visiting last weekend and we needed a topic to discuss so she could do a guest appearance on the podcast, which provided us the perfect excuse to start watching it already. We're only one episode in so far (well, two of us are. Hannah's already watched the whole series because she's way better at TV), and this is shaping up to be a perfect adaptation. Multiple characters (played by fantastic actors) across multiple timelines, the stories of how a civilization-ending pandemic started are intercut with hauntingly beautiful images of an apocalypse that's had a couple of decades to settle in. The episode has moments of quiet humor, and growing panic, and a tension that doesn't let up the entire time.We took a few moments to talk about another Hannah-recommendation: Jentry Chau Versus The Underworld. And we had to to digress to talk about other apocalypse-pandemic properties (The Stand, 28 Days Later), and to finalize our own apocalypse plan. If you're curious about what we're doing when it all kicks off, the party's at our grandmother's library. This week's outro is a clip from Space Jump by Noisy Oyster.Looking for a present for that hard-to-shop-for person? The Superhero Show Show #589Revival Series PremiereThe Superhero Show Show: The Revival Series Premiere Brings the Dead Back to LifeThis week on The Superhero Show Show, the hosts dive deep into the eerie, emotional, and grounded Revival Series Premiere—Episode 101, “Don't Tell Dad.” Based on the acclaimed Image Comics series by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, Revival sets its story in a small Wisconsin town where the dead mysteriously return to life. The panel breaks down the show's tone, complex family dynamics, and how this premiere redefines the supernatural mystery genre.Welcome to Wausau: When the Dead Walk (and Talk)From the opening moments, the hosts explain what sets the Revival Series Premiere apart from typical undead narratives. Rather than relying on gore or horror, “Don't Tell Dad” focuses on slow-building tension and personal stakes. The discussion highlights the show's restraint and how Revivers don't return as monsters—they come back nearly unchanged, creating an unsettling emotional ambiguity. They focus on Dana Cypress, the sheriff's deputy, and her younger sister Emme—who has secretly become one of the Revivers. Dana's investigation and discovery of Emme's return unfold with a quiet intensity. The hosts draw comparisons to Twin Peaks and Fargo, applauding the show's ability to blend murder, mystery, and small-town drama.Emotional Stakes and Subtle HorrorThe conversation turns to the episode's character-driven storytelling. One host praises the decision to avoid genre clichés and instead examine themes like grief, faith, and identity. Dana faces the growing pressure of protecting her sister while trying to solve an impossible mystery. Meanwhile, other Revivers begin appearing—and some are far less stable. The title, “Don't Tell Dad,” spurs speculation about hidden family secrets. What are the sisters concealing? Why does their father need to be kept in the dark? These questions elevate the emotional stakes and reinforce how Revival is more about relationships than jump scares. By the episode's end, the hosts agree that the show builds a believable world haunted by the impossible. Also This Week: Resident Alien Returns with “Prisoners”The second segment shifts to Resident Alien Season 4, Episode 1, “Prisoners.” The team is excited for the return of the galaxy's grumpiest doctor—though this time, he's locked up by government agents. Even behind bars, Harry's trademark deadpan humor is intact as he plots his next move. The hosts praise the show's continued balance of slapstick comedy and suspenseful sci-fi. They reflect on how Resident Alien keeps evolving while staying rooted in heartfelt character arcs. Asta's development gets particular attention, especially now that she's confronting major alien secrets alone.Speculation runs wild on what this season might hold. Will Earth finally face a true alien invasion? Can Harry stay hidden? Naturally, there's also a lighthearted debate over Alan Tudyk's comedic genius and whether he'd beat Paul Rudd in a charm contest.Final Thoughts on the Revival Series PremiereIn their wrap-up, the hosts return to Revival to emphasize its strong debut. The Revival Series Premiere successfully avoids horror clichés by anchoring its mystery in layered characters and rich emotional stakes. It promises a series full of tension, dread, and intrigue without sacrificing authenticity.By pairing Revival with the return of Resident Alien, this week's podcast delivers a genre-rich double feature—one steeped

In this gripping episode, best-selling author and investigative journalist Lee Strobel sits down with Billy Hallowell and Jen Lilley to unpack his most personal and provocative project yet—Seeing the Supernatural: Investigating Angels, Demons, Mystical Dreams, Near-Death Encounters, and Other Mysteries of the Unseen World. Strobel, known for The Case for Christ, brings his legal mind and journalistic rigor to topics many believers shy away from—yet are desperate to understand. Why do so many people, even nonbelievers, report deathbed visions, angelic encounters, or near-death experiences that eerily align with biblical truths? Strobel shares riveting, documented accounts—from blind individuals gaining sight during clinical death to children describing angels with surprising biblical accuracy. And in a culture fascinated by the paranormal but increasingly distant from faith, Strobel explains how the supernatural may be the bridge to a deeper spiritual awakening.Jen shares her own awe and urgency, pointing to Scriptures many churches gloss over and reminding listeners that signs, wonders, and miracles aren't just relics of the past—they're promises for every believer today. Billy draws attention to the cultural irony: Hollywood embraces the demonic, while parts of the Church shy away from talking about the spiritual realm at all. From skepticism to belief, from Sunday school stories to peer-reviewed evidence, this conversation will challenge you to reevaluate what you believe about the invisible world—and why it matters for your walk with God today. Whether you're a doubter, a seeker, or a sold-out believer, this episode will stir your soul and ignite your imagination.

What's up Bros? We have a new show on Bravo and it is Sold on SLC. In this show, we dive into the real estate world of Salt Lake City via Presidio. Run by Jennifer Yeo, its a firm dealing with big houses, fancy properties and they have a team to match it. In this first episode, we do some intros to get to know everyone. It seems like Matt will take a center stage this season as last years top salesmen, and this year having zero net sales, he is struggling to be the sole provider for his family. Lisa Barlow makes an appearance with Sarah, an agent at Presidio, whose husband owns a competing real estate firm. Tyna, another presidio agent, has some beef with Matt, because apparently Matt was spreading rumors that she doesn't believe in god. While we appreciate some drama in our shows (obviously) we felt like this first episode was rushed. We need to get to know people more before we start diving into the drama because we currently don't have any investment in this cast yet. We meet Malaysia, who had previously worked for Presidio and now has found her way back. Tyna's back story is very interesting as well, as a former LDS church member, she speaks about how being one of, if not the only, black, lesbian woman in a community full of LDS members. Jennifer comes in hot as the centerpiece for this show and we appreciate what she is trying to do, it just feels like a lot of episode 1 was forced. We hope they hit their stride and it becomes a little more organic, but we also are aware of early season blues as a show gets up and running. Ahoy me mateys! Star Wars is back on TV and this time it's pirate themed baby! Julian and Rachel return to recap and review this two-part series premiere, and are happy to report that the show is off to a great start. Star Wars has been in a difficult place as of late. Something that has been discussed a lot as of late. Each new piece of content announced or released is under a microscope, and probably rightfully so, considering the mixed levels of quality we've been getting from Lucasfilm of late. Amongst all that angst, 'Skeleton Crew' was not at the top of a lot of fans wish-lists, but sometimes low expectations can do wonders. Despite a somewhat slow first episode, the series seems to quickly figure out what it wants to be (Treasure Island in space basically) and hits it's stride through it's second episode. The child cast is charming with great chemistry, but it's Nick Frost's droid character that really steals the spotlight so far. Be warned shipmates, thar be full spoilers ahead!

Nathan and Eppy start from the beginning with S1E1 The Kirkoff Case. Jim's client is a real slimeball who's been arraigned, but not prosecuted, for murdering his own parents. The money is too good for Jim to drop the case, and then it gets personal when he takes a beating from not a "goon", but a "labor organizer". This series premiere episode shows us that this PI gets beat up a lot, but he doesn't quit - and he's going to be a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Rob Mahoney and Wosny Lambre lace up and hit the hardwood to recap the ‘Clipped' two-episode series premiere. They start by sharing their initial feelings on the first two episodes, what makes the essence of V. Stiviano so difficult to capture on-screen, and the over-the-top nature of the performances (Laurence Fishburne's Doc voice is certainly a choice) (1:38). Along the way, they discuss how the actual basketball sequences take away from the show (23:27). Later, they point out some of their favorite NBA superstar portrayals from the FX sports drama before handing out their own awards for Player of the Game and Most Uncanny Valley Moment (26:01).
