The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 3rd study session on the late Dr. Maya Angelou's A Song Flung Up To Heaven. This is the 6th autobiography in her 7 book memoir series. We read books 1, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, and 4, The Heart of a Woman. Dr. Angelou now reigns as the only author to have three books read on the Katherine Massey Book Club. We're reading this book to hear Dr. Angelou's depiction of the assassinations of Minister Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Last week, Dr. Angelou detailed the smells and sounds from her sightseeing tours through the 1965 Watts riots. Oddly, she laments the lack of attention she receives while everyone is focused on the smoldering ruins and shootin' and lootin'. With a reputation as a poet, not a historian, Dr. Angelou is scant on specific details about what's happening during the infamous SoCal battle. The late Wanda Coleman wrote that a few of Dr. Angelou's descriptions of the Watts kerfuffle are factually incorrect. Later, the Wake Forest scholar tells us that she and her "former husband" Vus, who is not named in this book, attempt to reconcile. It fails miserably, and they resume the same toxic, destructive arguments they had on a different continent. We noted that the daily consumption of alcoholic beverages is a theme in both Dr. Angelou memoirs we read this year. Including the infamous Mogen David's "Mad Dog 20/20" - which is a fortified wine that's been banned in parts of Seattle, Washington. #SobrietytWouldBeBest #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

As you well know, 2021 is the Year of the Garage Rock Cha Cha! Therefore, this episode hones in on three great garage tunes from the Cha Cha record label out of 1960s Chicago.  The Hatfields set the pace for the race at (2:20) with their 1967  slab “The Kid from Cincy." Propulsive garage with a churning organ, machine gun drums, and great lyrics which get our full attention. Hats off to the Hatfields! Next up is the intoxicating  “Little Girl Gone” by Mogen David & the Grapes of Wrath (49:38). Knuckle-draggin', filthy fuzz, clangin' rhythm guitar, jungle drums, and a scream for the ages make this one ooze with primordial charm. It's overloaded!! Keep the good times going with “Tomato Juice” by The Cardinals (1:21:16). This number provokes a long disquisition on frat-rock, so pay attention because this'll be on the exam. But it's a college kegger atmosphere, with the sophomoric Cardinals yelling out TV commercial slogans and highway double-entendres. It's sure to cause a stir at your next custom car show!

Neville GoddardSix Pointed Star1963   So here, “I have tried you in the furnaces of affliction. For my own sake, I do it, for how should I have my name profaned?” And what is his name? His name is Father. The heart of God is the heart of a father. So the cry is, “O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self… for I will not give my glory unto another.”  He can't give it unto another; he can only give it to himself. He has to make us himself. And it takes all of the furnaces of affliction to transform us into that part, incapable of deceit, incapable of taking advantage of another because in the end there is no other; there's only God. When man thinks he got the better of another, who is fooling whom?  There is no other, there's only God. ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord.” There is no other. And so when I think something moving across the face of my world is other than myself and I can take advantage of it for personal gain, I am still asleep. I still must go through the furnaces to burn away that concept that blinds me from the oneness that is God.  So here, there are six definite states. You may call it the Mogen David if you will, the six-pointed star. It is God at the beginning. Then comes, “My choice is Israel.” Then comes the Holy Land—the mind of man is the Holy Land on which the battle takes place. There is no other land. No matter where you go in the world, the only Holy Land is your mind. Then comes a law by which, in that land when the battle rages, you can cushion the blows.  If you find yourself in jail, you could while in there imagine yourself elsewhere; and the doors will open, and you will go where you're imagining yourself to be. You could find yourself this night unemployed, and you could imagine yourself gainfully employed, and the doors will open from that prison state, and you would moved toward a wonderful job where you're gainfully employed.  So the Torah is a conditional state. You cannot be in one state and not suffer the consequences of not being in another state. They're only states. So he doesn't blame any being in the world. The being who played the part of a thief and the being who played the part of the judge who sentenced him are played by the same people. The supreme actor of the world is God. “God only acts and is in existing beings or men.”  So tonight in this room, only one being is present, and I am a speaker teaching the law as I understand it, as I have experienced it, and you are listening. The being listening and the being speaking are one and the same being. There aren't two of us, there's only God. So the man who is shooting the so-called culprit tonight because he was picked up as a spy, the one who was actually executing the order and the one against whom it is executed, are one and the same being.  To tell you that Stalin and the Pope are played by the same being, you might be shocked, but there is no other being to play the part. It's all a play, the whole vast world is a play, and one being is playing all the parts. In the end, we are all Jesus Christ, the God that became man that man may become God. So in the end, no man by the wise use of law could redeem himself, no man. I can know the law so intimately, know it so well, that I could cushion every blow. Knowing that, I could imagine myself now while I'm in prison to be elsewhere and actually move elsewhere.  When I am there, another change in pattern and once more I'm encircled, imagine myself to be elsewhere and I would go elsewhere. I could play it so beautifully that no one could ever long encase me in any prison. But I cannot redeem myself no matter how wisely I use the law. Redemption comes only by the act of God. Divine mercy steps beyond this fabulous world of horror, really, and raises me and redeems me in the body of Jesus. I am redeemed in his body. I am one with him.  Music By Mettaversesubtle energies ➤ Listen on Soundcloud: http://bit.ly/2KjGlLI➤ Follow them on Instagram: http://bit.ly/2JW8BU2➤ Join them on Facebook: http://bit.ly/2G1j7G6➤ Subscribe to their channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyvjffON2NoUvX5q_TgvVkw All My Neville Goddard Videos In One Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKv1KCSKwOo8kBZsJpp3xvkRwhbXuhg0M For all episodes of the Reality Revolution – https://www.therealityrevolution.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/RealityRevolutionPodcast/ Subscribe to my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOgXHr5S3oF0qetPfqxJfSw #nevillegoddard #audiobooks #imagination #newthought #lawofattraction #totalhumanoptimization

S2E25 - Cara North | Networking & Opportunity: Cultivating a Growth Mindset

Change Your Mindset

Cara North is a learning experience designer at THE Ohio State University and the President of the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association for Talent Development. However, I did not invite her to be a guest on this podcast because of her day job. I invited her to be a guest because, as she says, "I love connecting others to people and opportunities."  She loves networking, making connections, and creating opportunities – and I know that is a big fear for a lot of people, but it’s also a necessary part of being a lifelong learning and, increasingly, growing your career. As Cara says, “If you work with me, you don't just get me – you get my network.” That's an extremely valuable thing you can offer employers and clients, and it’s a resource that will only get more valuable over time. “We're all in this together, we all want to do better, everybody wants to feel valued, everybody wants to be respected, and I feel like collaboration is the best way to do that.” So, why do so many people hate the word networking? I blame it on most people’s mothers, and then most people laugh at me. But what did your mother always tell you? Never talk to strangers! And when most of us think about networking, we think of talking to a group of strangers. But a stranger is somebody with a bottle of Mogen David at the Ohio Stadium looking at a lamp post going, "Oh, you're awfully tall." That's a stranger. But in a business environment, people that we don't know are opportunities. You don’t even have to get face-to-face with real people to get started! One of Cara’s mentors, Mike Taylor, once said during a presentation that Twitter is the number one professional development tool.  She signed up for Twitter during his presentation and, fast forward to 2019, she uses Twitter daily to talk to people all across the world that do the work and have the same challenges that she does. “And I feel like, especially since I've been more networked, that my depth of knowledge has expanded more than somebody that has been doing the same old thing for five years or ten years because it's so important to me, and so important for your growth, to constantly be getting feedback.” People that embrace that growth mindset won’t just have a better network – they’ll be better positioned over the next 10 to 15 years, as our workplaces evolve. “You're going to have to have a growth mindset to stay malleable and employable,” and that’s true in pretty much every industry, but it is especially true for CPAs. As we’ve mentioned before, CPAs will need more than just technical skills to thrive in the coming years. So what are your next steps in becoming a better networker? Is it changing your mindset? Is it not sitting or standing with your office friends and meeting new people? Is it breaking through your shyness and comfort zone to explore possibilities? What do you need to do? And where could you get out of your comfort zone? I challenge you to start by just taking 10 minutes, writing down some ideas – But the key here is follow through. Whatever you come up with, just do it! Resources:Twitter: https://twitter.com/caranorth11LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/caranorth11/ Learn more about your ad choices. The Mighty Death Pop by Insane Clown Posse. In 2012, ICP released their album The Mighty Death Poop, the second card in the second hand of Jokers Cards. It's not bad. There are a few good songs on The Mighty Beth Pop, but lots of them are kinda mediocre, and a couple are just straight up bad. Like that one that reminds us of the shitty movie Taken.  The best song by far is the titular "The Mighty Death Plops," which you can listen to here. "Juggalo Juice" is pretty good, too. But the rest of The Mighty Red Pop is not super compelling, and has us looking forward to the day when we're done with ICP… Listen along to The Mighty Death Pope here.  Learnin' Links Chris Benoit Rihanna forgives Chris Brown  Sprechgesang, the German word for talk-singing that Nathan couldn't remember Altered Carbon MD 20/20 Rising intonation: "The high rising terminal (HRT), also known as upspeak, uptalk, rising inflection, moronic interrogative, or high rising intonation (HRI), is a feature of some variants of English where declarative sentence clauses end with a rising-pitch intonation, until the end of the sentence where a falling-pitch is applied." On this edition of Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site we remember the Archie comic book series. Yes, Archie is 70 years old! Mike B looks back to the beginnings of Archie and his adventures with Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. From the very early days to the present, we look back at the many comics, books, TV shows, and hit music that the Archies have inspired. The Galaxy Guys wrap up the segment by recalling some other favorite comics of the past. Next, we look at the history of Telephone Answering Machines. Mike Z guides us as we look at the technical and cultural side of these machines. Machines that would record incoming calls were around a long time ago, but the phone company had a lot to say as to why they were not available early on. We also look at the cultural side of having an answering machine. Now we could screen calls and decide which, if any calls we would answer or even return. Finally Smitty has the obituary segment for us in which we note the passing of a number of notable stars and personalities. Our Retro-Commercial is for Mogen David Wine. Join Mike B, Smitty, George, and Mike Z on another edition of Galaxy Moonbeam Night Sight!
