Výtah Respektu: V Česku proběhl experiment, který ve vysokopříjmové zemi v Evropě nemá obdoby. Organizace Neposeda z. ú., výzkumný tým z Katedry sociální práce Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy a Národního centra sociálních studií vybrali v rámci projektu New Leaf 40 lidí bez domova, kterým dali 100 tisíc korun a sledovali, jak s tím během dvanácti měsíců naloží. Dali peníze na alkohol a drogy, nebo je to stereotyp a lidé bez domova si zajistili práci a bydlení? V čem se český projekt liší od kanadského, kterým se inspiroval? Budou výsledky nějak využitelné v praxi? A jakou roli by v tom mohl mít stát? Ve středeční epizodě odpovídá vedoucí výzkumného týmu Melanie Zajacová z Katedry sociální práce FF UK.

The delicious, healthful prune has long had a cross to bear: It's best known for making people poop. In the late 1990s, the California Prune Board set out on a quixotic mission to amend this sales-flattening reputation. It would attempt to rechristen this ancient fruit in the hopes the prune could one day be as unencumbered as an apricot, a raisin, or a fig. In a world where every product and person increasingly believes it's one good rebrand away from changing how they are seen, the story of the prune's attempt to become the “dried plum” is a telling tale about the impossibility of escaping who you really are—and the freedom that comes with self-acceptance. You'll hear from Richard Peterson, retired Executive Director of the California Prune Board; food writer and chef David Liebovitz; lawyer and lobbyist Dan Haley; and Kiaran Locy, Director of Brand and Industry Communications at the California Prune Board. This episode was written by Willa Paskin. In this episode, the hosts talk about what it really means to turn over a new leaf—personally, relationally, and emotionally. They explore whether change can happen inside a relationship (and what it looks like when it doesn't), how family dynamics complicate growth, and why trying something new can feel both exciting and terrifying. It's a thoughtful, lighthearted conversation about choosing yourself without burning everything down.Follow & stay connected:IG: @thanks4urconcern @berenicediazm @ellaltudorTikTok: @thanks4yourconcern @berenicediazm @ellaltudorYouTube: https://youtube.com/@thanksforyourconcernpod

Welcome to Heart of the Matter Radio/Podcast. Sometimes our New Year's resolutions don't last because we try to live in isolation. Author Peggy Sue Wells suggested real growth happens through connection. Explore the gaps in your perspective through listening to someone else's story. When you do that, you don't just set goals, you change the way you see the world. Join us as we trade stories and fill in the blanks and find that 'aha' moment that happens when we listen.

For her directorial debut, comedienne and writer Elaine May chose to adapt the short story The Green Heart by Jack Ritchie into A New Leaf - the story of a rich playboy who loses all his money and schemes to marry and murder a rich woman. Walter Matthau plays the entitled Henry Graham and May herself plays the ditzy but lovable Henrietta Lowell. The film went over budget and time, necessitating a couple extra million dollars and 40 extra shooting days. Paramount took the final edit away from May, winnowing her original 3 hour cut into the existing 90 minute theatrical cut. The films boasts a bevy of comedic character stars including Jack Weston, Doris Roberts, Renne Taylor and James Coco. Dan and Vicky discuss the oddball romantic dark comedy along with alot of recently seen including 2025's Silent Night Deadly Night, Hamnet, Fackham Hall, Nouvelle Vague, Jay Kelly, The Running Man and Equalizer 2. I am so honored to share today's conversation with Laura Bode, the newly appointed Chief Philanthropy Officer at A New Leaf. A survivor of childhood trauma, Laura rebuilt her confidence as an adult with the support of key mentors who saw her potential before she could see it herself. Today, she leads a powerhouse nonprofit serving more than 30,000 people each year and has helped grow philanthropy revenue from $300,000 to over $10 million. In this episode, we dig into her remarkable journey, the emotional realities nonprofit leaders face, the burnout she's experienced firsthand, and how she rebuilt a healthier, more grounded approach to leadership. ✨ “Fun is the foundation of transformation. Once people laugh, anything becomes possible.” – Troy Shaw✨ “Clichés are cliches because they're true – when you make horses healthier and happier, you make humans healthier and happier, too.” – Rupert IsaacsonWhat happens when a corporate manager swaps the boardroom for the barn? In this heartwarming episode, Rupert Isaacson speaks with Troy Shaw, co-director of New Leaf Triangle in Leicestershire, UK — a thriving equine-assisted education and therapy center that grew from one family's leap of faith into a nationally respected program. Alongside his wife Lorraine, Troy left behind the security of a corporate job to create a place where play, laughter, and horses transform lives.Troy shares the story of how New Leaf Triangle began in 2014 with just a few students and a handful of horses, and how it evolved into a multi-site program supporting young people with autism, emotional challenges, and special educational needs. From fun and dress-up sessions that unlock neuroplasticity to serious discussions about risk, horse welfare, and staff training, this episode explores how joy and rigor can coexist in equine-assisted work.If you've ever wondered how to make a sustainable living doing meaningful work with horses, or how to bring more fun and authenticity into your sessions, this conversation is for you.If you want to support the show, you can do so at Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/LongRideHome
This week we're still kicking on the no cannabis train, and I am grateful that it has been an easy transition! I attribute this to not being addicted to it; rather just dependent on the benefits for my quality of life! Addiction and dependency are two different things that can sometimes occur at the same time. However, for me, addiction is an imbalance within the soul, mind, and body rather than the actual drug itself! It's been difficult mentally since the withdrawals have cessated and I can see why PTSD is a qualifying conditions for medical cannabis! One day I will return to it with a new baseline; however I now realize the value of intermittent breaks! It will always be a tool for improving the quality of life for me, and just like any tool you can either build a house or cut your hand off with it! However, I built a pretty unstable house and so I am tearing it down to the foundation and learning new skillsets and tools to utilize in combination with cannabis when I return to it! Thank you all for the continued support as I continue to explore this new path in my life. Also big thank you to both Uncle Albert and Huachuma for shedding light on how unstable the house I had built was! The future is beautiful and will be even terpier when I return! And the headstash will be THICCCCCCCC because I am deep freezing everything! I also go on a rant about the Alcohol Nicotine Caffeine control system. Vote with your dollars against these industries that only exist to enslave our bodies, minds, and souls! Health + sanity is freedom and these drugs only deteriorate that within people.Support the show
This week we're hiking to the tree of wisdom to discuss the benefits of the Terpenoid compounds found in Lions Mane mushrooms / Shoutout to Golden Door! / and how they can help repair the cellular death caused by PTSD. Terpenes/Terpenoids are found in so many living things and they seem to fit into our bodies like keys that either unlock or activate certain systems for the management of our health! I also go on a rant about the rapidly changing landscape of our society again lmao; every week I get hit with some new wild information about how fucked society is. The earth is fine and shall live past our fuckery; however it makes me sad that we can't all live in peace and harmony. It would be so easy with just a shift of the general consciousness. At the very end of this episode I feature a new song I've created titled Aquila. It features a Ram Dass sample; if you're from his estate please don't sue me. This track is special to me and captures a beautiful night in my life. Skip to 48:10 to check it out! Thank you all for the continued support as I return back to a cannabis free baseline. I hope to reintegrate it into my existence once I develop more resiliance toward the internal and external horrors that I exist with daily. With a stronger soul will come more enjoyment from one of my life's greatest passions: the cannabis plant. Beyond the culture of it all, this plant is so special to me. My dad taught me the skill of growing it when I was 18 and that changed my life forever. And before my mom died, I was able to connect with her on a human level through the plant. It dissolves the boundaries of the illusion of parent/child and showed me the reality of human/human.Support the show

!!! IMPORTANT DESCRIPTION PLEASE READ IF YOU CARE ABOUT ME AS A HUMAN BEING !!!This week is a different week than I've had in 15 years and that's because I, with my newly acquired therapist, have decided that it's time for me to fully reset my existence back to a true baseline. I have been dealing with various mental health issues for my entire life and cannabis is an excellent tool for quality of life management. That is, until recently. A couple of weeks ago, I had a profound experience that changed my perspectives on the total scale of my life including the utilization of cannabis in processing the death of my parents. There comes a point of diminishing returns when it comes to its use as a tool for positivity; and I have currently surpassed that point. So! This week is week one of my personal reset! I'll be cataloging the withdrawal process Feel free to check out this journey week by week! I'm not sure how long it will take for me to fully reset my body, mind, and soul but it is what I must do for myself and for Terpene Therapy! But also, take a 650º slurper dab for me! With all of that being said! I'm working on a whole new strategy for capturing conversations and look forward to the new perspectives that I will gain from being in the "raw dog" mindset. Thank you in advance for your acceptance of this new chapter of the podcast! Alternatively, if you find that you no longer like it, I completely understand because this is an instant and massive gear shift. If you've been watching since the beginning, you already know that you never know what you'll get each week! That's how I've always operated and I will continue to do so!
