Welcome back another episode of Cosmic Curiosities! In this week's episode, we're diving into the concept of Self-Care. Self Care & Self Love can mean different things to different people but ultimately, it is something that we all need. Joining me today is the owner of the 'Self Love Lounge' in Brisbane, Australia - Morgan Johnston. About Morgan - Morgan is a Salon Owner, Beauty Therapist & Reiki Practitioner. Morgan has been running Self Love Lounge for 7 years and has been in the beauty industry for over 12 years. She has a wealth of knowledge in skin and with her study of Dermatology and Integrated health she loves the skin and gut connection, and finds the human body interesting! This helps her treat clients with a holistic approach. She got super curious last year and studied reiki to bring a mind/soul level to the treatments offered at Self Love Lounge. After the break away from salon during prolonged lockdowns in Australia throughout 2020-2021 clients were feeling really disconnected and this offered a new way to support them. Specializing in emotional release, she loves watching what Reiki can uncover for her clients and what magic overflows in to other area's of their life. In her spare time, Morgan loves nothing more than spending time with her husband and their two fur babies, exploring local hiking trails or trying new coffee shops and eateries for brunch. Today I am sharing part 2 of my interview with Morgan Johnston. Morgan is a local artist in the Birmingham, Alabama area and she is also the co-owner of Club Duquette. Club Duquette is an experiential retail brand where they design and manufacture in house, as well as feature other interesting companies with unique items. Morgan is an amazing artist, and her artwork is currently being featured and sold on Serena and Lily. During this second half of our interview, we really dive deep into our past, childhood trauma, and how we are still working to maintain our healthy mental state through therapy. Talking to Morgan made me again realize that I am not the only person that has had trauma during childhood, and I love to hear what other people are doing to find healing and peace within themselves. It was a beautiful and eye opening second half of the interview. Mental health is something that is not seen by the human eye but felt within us. We must continue to let others know that it is okay to go to therapy to find the inner peace and healing that you have been looking for. In today’s episode, we are shaking our traditional episode structure up a little to increase inspiration and motivation to all treating therapists and aestheticians across the community. This year has been one heck of a year and right now we could all use a little reminder as to why we entered the professional beauty and aesthetic industry in the first place and too reignite our passion and realign purpose to everyone heading into business for the remaining 60 or so days of 2020. When searching for inspiration, I need to turn no further than our very own Beaute Industrie Facebook Community who provided us with lots of little gems in the form of voicemails for you all to enjoy on this episode. I hope it makes your day lighter, brighter and more grateful for the special and very privileged position we are in to be able to change peoples skins, bodies and lives on a daily basis through the power of touch. Morgan Johnston is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter based in Nashville. Morgan joins Country Music Made Me to discuss her two competing loves, Horses and Music, how her parents love of both animals and music helped inspire her to chase her dreams no matter where they led, and how learning about her Great Grandmothers past as a songwriter has inspired her journey in Nashville. Morgan and Brendan talk about Morgan's early musical experiences, first with her friends putting on "air band" performances for their family, to open-mic nights at small venues around her hometown of Sandwich Cape Cod, and finally to dropping out of University after a year to chase a career in Nashville. Morgan explains the feelings she had when making the official move to Music City, what it was like to have her debut single "Good Guy" do much better than she expected, and how she's navigated the up's and down's of the industry. Finally, Morgan talks about enjoying the small victories within her journey, the growth she's experienced as an artist that she's brought into her new single "The End", what it's been like working with long time friend, Producer Noah Needleman, and the excitement she has for the release of her debut album in late 2022.
