Have you ever wondered what it really takes to become a dermal clinician? Beyond the beauty treatments and skincare advice, there's a world of medical knowledge and expertise. In this episode, we explore the depth of this field with Catherine Lee, founder of SKYN and a seasoned professional in dermal science. Catherine's journey began as a qualified Beauty Therapist, but her curiosity and dedication led her to pursue a Bachelor of Health Science in Dermal Therapies. Welcome back another episode of Cosmic Curiosities! In this week's episode, we're diving into the concept of Self-Care. Self Care & Self Love can mean different things to different people but ultimately, it is something that we all need. Joining me today is the owner of the 'Self Love Lounge' in Brisbane, Australia - Morgan Johnston. About Morgan - Morgan is a Salon Owner, Beauty Therapist & Reiki Practitioner. Morgan has been running Self Love Lounge for 7 years and has been in the beauty industry for over 12 years. She has a wealth of knowledge in skin and with her study of Dermatology and Integrated health she loves the skin and gut connection, and finds the human body interesting! This helps her treat clients with a holistic approach. She got super curious last year and studied reiki to bring a mind/soul level to the treatments offered at Self Love Lounge. After the break away from salon during prolonged lockdowns in Australia throughout 2020-2021 clients were feeling really disconnected and this offered a new way to support them. Specializing in emotional release, she loves watching what Reiki can uncover for her clients and what magic overflows in to other area's of their life. In her spare time, Morgan loves nothing more than spending time with her husband and their two fur babies, exploring local hiking trails or trying new coffee shops and eateries for brunch. Taking bricks & mortar beauty online! I believe any business can be digitised, however bricks-and-mortar it may seem. So, I’m fascinated how Jennie Lawson – who started her first business when she was 21 – has created an online version of her beauty salon. She took the spiritual nourishment that she offers one-to-one in the treatment room, and brought it to a wider audience with Mimosa Sanctuary. She talks to me about the grief that spurred her on, dyslexia, and the tough reality of being a young, award-winning entrepreneur. Some Questions I ask Beauty salons are such a hands-on experience. How can you use digital techniques to bring that experience online? What part did your huge grief play in the creation of your self-care platform? How does someone with severe dyslexia write 6 eBooks? In this episode, you will learn How daily rituals can help when you’re struggling to get through your day The power of mindfulness on grief and pain Strategies for keeping happy when you run your own business Also mentioned: The Griefcast Kajabi Empress Mastermind Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday Connect with Jennie: hello@mimosabeauty.co.uk thelawsonelement on instagram @mimosabeauty on twitter and facebook

Skin positivity, waxing nostrils and the facial cleansing device worth investing in...Hello and welcome to Beauty Island, the award-nominated beauty podcast that celebrates life and lipstick.I’m your host, beauty journalist, Brittany Stewart and this is another episode of Beauty Isolation, a special mini series of Beauty Island.Normally, I ask my guests about the 8 beauty products that have a special memory or meaning for them. The ones they’d take to a desert island, or Beauty Island, that I am sending them off to. In Beauty Isolation, instead they pick the 8 products that have played a significant role in quarantine. The ones they’re using, ditching or rediscovering in isolation. Twice a week, we’ll explore how their relationship to beauty has changed during this time, as well as conversations around self-care, how they’re going, and what they’re most looking forward to.Today my guest is Maddie Edwards, content creator, beauty therapist, and owner of Maddie Edwards Beauty. We talked about eczema and acne in Isolation and beyond, waxing nostrils, and the alien-looking facial device that is as good as the hype. She’s one of my favourite people to follow on Instagram and YouTube because of her candidness about skin, leading a refreshing conversation and reminder that it isn’t always the pore-less pictures we so often see on social media. If you enjoy Beauty Isolation, please rate and review on Apple Podcasts. Hello Beauty Therapists, in this episode I will be discussing questions asked by Kylie, Marisa and Demi.
Should vegan beauty brands be run by vegans? That is the question we tackle in this episode of the Green Beauty Conversations podcast, the podcast that challenges you to change the way you think about the way you buy, use, make and sell your natural beauty formulations. Veganism is on the rise Interest in veganism has increased seven-fold in the last five years according to Google trends. And as part of that rise, cosmetics represents the fastest growing sector in brands gaining the vegan trademark, where the indie beauty sector sees a great opportunity to appeal to the ever-growing vegan community. But should beauty brand founders be vegan in order to make and sell vegan cosmetics? If you’re making and selling cosmetics, should you walk the walk as well as talking the talk? In this episode we speak to three people with an interest in veganism. Firstly we speak to Louisa Sales, a Beauty Therapist currently working in the beauty industry training other professionals, who is also a passionate vegan. Louisa believes that brands using veganism in their marketing should be founded and run by people who live and support a vegan lifestyle. Next we speak to Abigail Stevens, Trademark manager at the Vegan Society who established the definition of veganism. The Vegan Society certifies individual products as vegan and enables brands to carry their trademark. Our last guest is Claire Michalski of the certification Vegan Founded, an organisation that certifies brands as vegan based on their ethical choices and those of their founders. Vegan Founded controversially posted on their Facebook page that supporting meat eating brand founders could be supporting the meat industry and prefers to give their support to brands who are founded and run by vegans. In this Podcast you will: Hear different and sometimes controversial answers to the question: Do you need to be Vegan to make vegan cosmetics? Directly from experts in the field. Get an understanding of some of the complexities that exist when it comes to marketing or certifying your cosmetics as vegan. Explore the current vegan beauty market and how it is changing. Key takeaways include: The ethics of veganism can be complex and individual. Brands need to be aware of the claims they are making and what they might mean to their customers. Veganism isn't just about cutting out certain food groups, it is a lifestyle. Attention to detail and authenticity is key for brands making ethical claims for their products. Some vegan consumers feel disillusioned that brands are jumping on the vegan beauty bandwagon for money making, rather than ethical purposes. This has potential to impact brands, especially with the rise of call out culture on social media. The rise in choice in the vegan beauty market is viewed as a whole as a positive for people who have a vegan lifestyle and presents opportunities for brand founders whose ethics align with the vegan movement. Vanessa Donlan my guest today has been in the holistic health industry for 25 years and along the way has worked as an Aromatherapist, Massage Therapist, and a Beauty Therapist. Through creating client relationships and wanting to explore beyond traditional beauty treatments, Vanessa studied Neuro Linguistic Programming, otherwise known as NLP, and Hypnotherapy, and has since added them to her list of services. Prior to this recording I went and had a treatment with Vanessa in her Space at Serenity skin and Body in Manly and was actually quite surprised by the results and too the sequence of treatment in combining a facial with hypnosis. I mentioned to Vanessa that I was concerned with the quality of my sleep and that getting to sleep was quite difficult for me and since our session i have been sleeping like a baby - you may have seen me write about this on the Beaute Industrie blog recently if you’re a superfan of ours. Vanessa shares with us what hypnosis actually is, why hypnotherapy has been drawn to her and how it’s changed the lives and skin of her clients.
