Today Justin chats with Nick van der Bijl. Nick served for 24 years as a regular in the British Army in military intelligence, security, and later as an infantry officer in the Territorial Army. He saw active service in Northern Ireland, Belize, and with the 3 Commando Brigade during the Falklands Conflict. Since leaving the service, Nick has published 23 books on military history, covering several different conflicts and eras. This week he discusses his experiences during the Falklands war between Argentina and the United Kingdom, which lasted for 74 days, beginning in April, 1982. Nick was on the ground as a non commissioned officer in the intelligence section of the 3 Commando Brigade as British forces fought to retake the islands and worked to build the intelligence picture for commanders making life and death decisions every day.Check out Nick's book, My Friends, The Enemy, here.https://www.amazon.com/My-Friends-Enemy-Intelligence-Falklands/dp/1445694182Save 10% on your subscription to History By Mail when you use the promo code JUSTIN10.

In E186, Nick Van Dyk discussed how he quit his job at 29 years old and moved into his career as a full time real estate investor. Nick is an aggressive investor and he knows his stuff. He's been investing recently in Cape Coral Florida, where Andrew invests, and also investing in Edmonton AB. Nick's noteworthy quote from this episode was "you'll never know unless you try".
