For decades, prolific Cuban spies working in the U.S. government, serving in high profile positions with top security clearances, have evaded American intelligence officials. Correspondent Cecilia Vega reports from Washington, D.C. and Miami on the stories of two such undercover agents, former U.S. Ambassador Victor Manuel Rocha and onetime Pentagon official Ana Montes. Cuba continues to supply one of the most dangerous exports to American adversaries around the world: American secrets. For centuries, the giants of the art world, like Michelangelo, have made a beeline for the world-famous Carrara marble quarries of Northern Tuscany, turning the white stone into masterpieces. Now, a fleet of robots has moved in, carving with pinpoint precision and sparking an art world fracas. Correspondent Bill Whitaker travels to Carrara and jumps into the fray: can a robot make art? While many contemporary A-listers are turning to robots for help, many of Italy's hammer-and-chisel brigade are up in arms. They claim Italy's artistic heritage is on the line. Many teenagers want to become pop stars, but few convince their parents to let them pack their bags and move to another country to make it big. That's precisely what Dua Lipa did when she was 15 years old, trading Pristina, Kosovo, for London. Correspondent Anderson Cooper talks with her about her journey from unknown songwriter to international sensation. The series follows the cat-and-mouse saga of an assassin (Eddie Redmayne) and a British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch), a twisty tale that leans into the legacy of British spy novels but with a modern edge. When creator Ronan Bennett told Kirk he wanted to set the series "in a world where everybody lies about everything all the time,” Kirk recalls, “I was immediately attracted to the prospect.”

Professor Lubin shares his over ten years of research into the law and ethics that govern espionage. Professor Lubin dis-cusses how current international law regulates (or rather, falls short to ade-quately regulate) how States spy on one another. Professor Lubin discusses his argument for the development of a new body of law called the, “Interna-tional Law of Intelligence,” a self-contained legal regime specifically tailored to honor the importance of espionage to State security, while simultaneously balancing the protection of individual privacy. Today just sits down with Trevor Barnes, a former senior reporter and producer for the British Broadcasting Corporation and retired attorney you're a longtime listener. You may remember Trevor from his first appearance here on the podcast for episode number 33. Today he's here to discuss another spy ring operating in the UK and throughout Europe that was only just uncovered. Very recently, six Bulgarians were arrested as members of a ring operating at the behest of the Russian FSB and GRU. And unlike many similar cases in the past, three of these spies were tried publicly, which offered some amazing insights into modern espionage, operations, and techniques, as well as the pitfalls that led to their discovery and subsequent arrests. Check out Trevor's first appearance on episode 33: The True Story of the Portland Spy Ring here.Connect with Trevor:Twitter/X: @trevorwbarnesLinkedIn: Trevor BarnesConnect with Spycraft 101:Get Justin's latest book, Murder, Intrigue, and Conspiracy: Stories from the Cold War and Beyond, here.spycraft101.comIG: @spycraft101Shop: shop.spycraft101.comPatreon: Spycraft 101Find Justin's first book, Spyshots: Volume One, here.Check out Justin's second book, Covert Arms, here.Download the free eBook, The Clandestine Operative's Sidearm of Choice, here.History by MailWho knew? Last week’s dump of the remains of the JFK Assassination files were a complete dud (except for the sloppy non-redaction of social security numbers and the names of intelligence sources). Hollywood movie director Phil Robinson wasn’t surprised. For years, he’d grown up a JFK Assassination conspiracy theorist. But when he dug deep enough he found… nothing. Now he extols the sadly mundane truth — it was just Lee Harvey Oswald acting alone. How did he climb out of this, the most famous of rabbit holes?

The first two months of Trump's term have been a tour de force of chaos, bizarre hires and indecipherable decisions. Conspiracy theories operate on both sides of the equation. They are attempts to find an underlying rationale for moves by Trump and Musk, often presuming nefarious motivations of self-interest. Conspiracy theories are also being used as a tool to justify actions that are unpopular or destructive. From USAID to Fort Knox to anything "deep state," are these false conspiracy theories deliberately fabricated as misinformation or are they the convictions of True Believers?
