Jen Hatmaker grew up in the church, surrounded by family and community, eventually rising up to become a central figure. But, over the years, she became increasingly uncomfortable with not so much the core tenets and teachings, but rather the trapping and limitations of the institution. She struggled with what she saw as a stifling of power, expression and contribution in the context of women, the exclusion of LGBTQ+ and gender-fluid or nonconforming people and more. So, she did something she knew would leave her labeled a pariah and outcast by many. Still, it was the thing she couldn’t not do.Jen had no idea what was next, or even if faith, or any approach to organized religion would play a role in her life, let alone her vocation. But, over time, she came back to those same core tenets, but in a way that felt far more expansive, equitable and inclusive, and build a new community that welcomed all into more of what she described as a “wild faith.” She’s since written numerous books, including NY Times bestsellers For the Love and Of Mess and Moxie. She hosts the For the Love Podcast, speaks and created the Jen Hatmaker Book Club where, in her words, she “nerds out every month with thousands of women who believe good books are everything and stories still matter.” And she leaders an online community of millions of women. Here latest book, Simple and Free: 7 Experiments Against Excess (https://amzn.to/2PdDFSL), is a fascinating take on excess, bundled with a series of experiments that invite us to explore what happens when we strip down key parts of life to their essentials. You can find Jen Hatmaker at:Website : https://jenhatmaker.com/Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/jenhatmaker/Check out our offerings & partners: Peloton: Access high-energy workouts, instantly. My family and I met Anna LeBaron last year at a book launch for best-selling author Kindra Hall and her book “Stories That Stick.” We had a terrific conversation with Anna. That led to a dinner a few months later after I read her Memoir: The Polygamist's Daughter. We will talk a great deal about her story growing up.Anna quit her 17-year career launching cargo aircraft for the automotive industry to launch books full time for the publishing industry. Anna knows how to help launch books. She began book launching five years ago. Since then she has launched over 70 books, including 8 New York Times Best Sellers which include:“Of Mess and Moxie” by Jen Hatmaker"Girl Wash Your Face"by Rachel Hollis"Girl Stop Apologizing" by Rachel Hollis"Everybody Always" by Bob Goff"Grateful Americans" by Gary Sinise"The Sound of Gravel" by Ruth Wariner"Get out of your own way" by Dave HollisIn her spare time she is a public speaker. She shares her inspirational story of escaping a cult, healing, and creating a life that she’s proud of. Anna speaks at writer’s conferences and retreats about book launching and other topics. Anna coach’s others on harnessing the power of social media and building an authentic platform so they can reach those they are called to serve.

Today I'm sharing some things that I am loving lately, in all aspects of my life. Everything I talk about is linked below: Show Notes: Fav Food: Pasta Salad and Crockpot Ribs (stand the ribs up tall around the sides of the crockpot and add 1/2 cup water to the center after coating them with dry rub of your choice and after cooking on low all day, place on a sheet pan, coat with bbq sauce and broil for a few minutes) Fav Clothes: Fav Online shop lately is Poppy and Dot (follow them on Insta) and I am loving these new jeans I got. Cute frayed bottom (but not too intense) and higher waisted. Podcasts: The Life Coach School is obviously a fav but my recent favs are the episodes called "#12 Boundaries" and "#35 Believing New Things". Life changing. I also really liked The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey's episode with Catherine Lowe (from the Bachelor). So interesting to get a behind the scenes. She's so candid. Life is messy. We know this. But women––ordinary, everyday women––have never been braver, stronger, or more self-empowered. We are, as Jen Hatmaker says, bringing moxie back. In this episode we get to chat with one of our favorite women on the planet about her new book “Of Mess and Moxie: Wrangling Delight Out of This Wild And Glorious Life.” With her classic humor and warmth, Jen gives us the pep talk we didn’t even know we needed—permission to leave our mom guilt behind, chase our God-given talents, and ‘feel our feelings’ whether we’re sending kids off to kindergarten or college this fall. Plus, because we couldn’t resist, we also ask her about incredibly important things like fashion, Whole30 and This Is Us. Like what you heard?
