Picture lock (or piclock for short) is when a movie is done being edited and the timing is locked in so it can go to color correction, sound design, scoring, visual effects, etc. But adding those elements helps inform the project and may spark new ideas that may require editing changes. This scares many inexperienced people and they don't make those changes. Here's a look at how you can do it without creating a nightmare for all those involved. With the recent win of Green Book for Best Picture, I think there was an audible moan heard around the world when it was announced. Certainly social media blew up in discussing either disappointment or happiness for the films win. But with some of the discussion being yelling and demeaning back and forths on social media, I wanted to have a calm convo on the subject.
