O Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (Mapa) participa da maior feira de pescado do mundo, a Seafood Expo Global, que acontece até quinta-feira (28) em Barcelona, na Espanha, com o objetivo de aprofundar as tratativas para a retomada das exportações de pescado brasileiro para a União Europeia. Além de visitar os estandes dos mais de 100 países presentes na feira, a equipe do Mapa está se reunindo com empresários e representantes de governos para ampliar a articulação comercial. O secretário de Aquicultura e Pesca do Mapa, Jairo Gund, disse que um dos objetivos da feira além de restabelecer as exportações de pescado para a União Europeia é consolidar o trabalho feito pelo Brasil no crescimento do setor. Também foram realizadas reuniões com autoridades do Reino Unido para tratar da abertura daquele mercado, que segue as mesmas regras que a União Europeia. As exportações de pescado do Brasil para a União Europeia estão suspensas desde 2017, após questionamentos apresentados por autoridades do bloco depois de uma missão de auditoria. A Secretaria de Aquicultura e Pesca vem trabalhando em conjunto com a Secretaria de Defesa Agropecuária na elaboração e implementação de medidas para o controle higiênico-sanitário da cadeia produtiva de pescado nacional, em atendimento aos requisitos da comunidade europeia.
