Today's topic is relevant to many different types of businesses and entrepreneurs, and it's something I have pondered along my own journey. We are taking a look at owning an audience compared to “renting” an audience through social media platforms. Social media can be overwhelming with many challenges, and the number of followers is not always a reflection of the success of a business. Join us to learn strategies to help you own your audience! Our Featured Guest Craig Morris Craig Morris works with creators to monetize their knowledge. He has worked at Google for the past seven years, and we connected through our mutual friend Kevin Shen, a previous STC guest. Craig has learned a lot about the power of social media, email lists, and more, and he's sharing his tips and strategies with us. If you've debated the merits of creating an email list and wondered if it's worthwhile, you will find today's conversation helpful and informative. Here's the 2021 schedule for BYU:UVU took to the road and beat Concordia, 10-7. The Wolverines will head to Colorado for games against Adams State and CSU-Pueblo this weekend. The MCLA released its plan for something resembling a postseason this year. I think it's easy for most of us in Utah to think things are somewhat back to normal but when dealing with a nationwide organization, it's not so simple. Enter the 2021 MCLA Invitational. This sums it up: I had a thought the other day; does a shortened season last year with no season or no meaningful season this year help or hinder a players desire to play? Let's say you were a Freshman in college in 2019 at an MCLA school. You rode the bench or maybe got a little playing time. Last year, as a Sophomore, your team played 3 games and you saw no time before your season was cancelled. This year, you are a Junior in school but still a Sophomore in eligibility. Your team isn't playing or doesn't want to go to the MCLA Invitational. Does this make you want to play your Senior season more or less? Will teams be younger overall next year? What do you think? Utahns AbroadRyan Baker (Juan Diego) had 3 groundballs on defense for Bryant in a 14-8 loss to Stony Brook.Logann Eldredge (Herriman) had 4 goals and 3 assists against Kent State on Friday. Bubba Fairman (Brighton) had 1 goal and a groundball for Maryland in a 20-9 win over Michigan. Zack Franckowiak (Corner Canyon) had a groundball for Rutgers in a 11-9 upset over Penn State. Several Utahns featured in the Southern Virginia 21-16 loss to Hampden-Sydney. Box Score | Video - Tennison Schmidt (Brighton) had 6 goals and 1 assist. Chandler Wescott (Bountiful/BYU) had 4 goals and 3 assists. Dalon Hampshire (Bountiful/BYU) had 18 saves. On the Women's side at SVU, Alissa Johnson (Olympus) had 6 goals and 1 assist in a 14-13 win over Centre. Today, we talk with Prof. Maarten Wolsink, who has studied acceptance issues in infrastructure projects, especially renewable energy, for decades. He tells us what's wrong with calling people NIMBY. We briefly return to Rhein-Hunrück to speak with Frank-Michael Uhle about why acceptance was so high there before turning to Marie Leer Jorgensen, who just finished her PhD on Denmark's three policies to increase acceptance. They have been copied in other EU countries, but she problematizes the whole issue. And finally, Craig tells us what he means by "identification instead of acceptance." But in the meantime, I don’t want to be said in a position where I’m 50, 60, 100, 200 deep on an item that really has as no chance of doing better than break even because then my money’s just sitting there not doing anything. Episode 40: The Trumpet Repertoire Project with Dr. J. Peyden Shelton http://www.peydenshelton.com http://www.peydenshelton.com/trumpet-repertoire-project.html A current resident of the greater Washington D.C. and Baltimore area, Dr. J. Peyden Shelton has gained a rapidly growing reputation as an active clinician and performer throughout the United States and Canada. Dr. Shelton has served on the faculties of both the University of Rochester and Cornell University as an Instructor of Trumpet. In these positions, he recruited and maintained two studios of both undergraduate and graduate students. He also served as chamber ensemble coach for numerous student ensembles. While pursuing his doctorate in Trumpet Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music, Peyden served as the head teaching assistant for the Eastman School's trumpet studio under Professors James Thompson and Douglas Prosser. Before going to the Eastman School of Music, Peyden attended the University of Miami's Frost School of Music as a Mancini Fellow and teaching assistant for Craig Morris. While working toward his Masters in Music, Peyden served as the principal classical trumpet for the Henry Mancini Orchestra. There, Peyden has recorded and played with many musicians including The Beach Boys, Lou Gramm of The Foreigners, and Gloria Gaynor. Peyden is also featured on Pharrell Williams' track entitled,"I Am Other." In addition to his performances with the Mancini Orchestra, Peyden also served as a substitute and utility trumpet with the New World Symphony under the guidance of maestros Michael Tilson Thomas and Esa-Pekka Salonen. In March of 2014, Peyden was awarded 1st place in the Graduate Solo Division at the National Trumpet Competition in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Since that time, Peyden has been featured as a soloist with several ensembles throughout the East Coast. His most recent performances include Alexandra Pakhmutova's Concerto for Trumpet, Duke Ellington's Concerto for Cootie, Bruce Broughton's Excursions for Trumpet and Band, as well as Donald Hunsberger's famous arrangement for Wynton Marsalis of J.B. Arban's Fantasie Brillante. Peyden has performed as a soloist with a wide variety of ensembles including The Winds of the Blue Ridge, Southwest Virginia's premiere wind band, Cornell University's Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and the Reston Symphony Orchestra. He has been featured as soloist in chamber music settings including the Eastman School's Tuba Miram, and the Eastman Brass Guild. Along with having an extensive performance background, Peyden holds a Bachelors of the Arts with a focus in Music Education from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He has given numerous clinics and masterclass for both secondary school students, as well as numerous collegiate masterclasses throughout the United States. His clinics focus on strengthening basic fundamentals while finding ways to develop each player's own sound. In his current positions with Symphony Number One, The Washington Chamber Orchestra, and principal trumpet of the Hunt Valley Symphony Orchestra, Peyden helps to promote both traditional performance repertoire, as well as new works for solo and chamber ensembles. He is strongly committed to furthering the growth of his own instrument's repertoire and is currently commissioning works that showcase the trumpet in a solo setting that may function not only as art music, but also serve to provide key pedagogical elements to younger performers.
In this podcast, Myanna Dellinger interviews Craig Morris on his experience and views regarding how the German energy sector transitioned from fossil fuels to modern energy sources through grass-roots movements. The lessons learned have been adopted by other countries and maybe there is hope of using this model for an energy transition in more stubborn countries such as the United States. Craig Morris (@PPchef) is currently a Senior Fellow at the IASS. Coauthored with Arne Jungjohann, his book Energy Democracy is the first history of Germany’s energy transition, the Energiewende. He has served as technical editor of IRENA’s REmap and of Greenpeace’s Energy (R)evolution. In 2008, he cofounded Berlin’s PV Magazine; in 2010, Renewables International. In 2012, he became lead author of EnergyTransition.de. In 2014, he won the International Association of Energy Economists’ prize for energy journalism.

Mike and Billy interview Nick Costner during the first hour of the Jan. 24th, 2009 show. Songs About Golf is a division of Nick Costner Productions, 1310 N. 20th Street, Paragould, AR 72450. They produce music in various genre's, primarily for Baby Boomers and up. Their most recent project, We're Gonna Play Golf is the classic golf album for men and women who love and understand the game of golf and who want to be entertained with golf's funny aspects. Here is a little bit of information about some of the great people who participated in this project. Ken Mock is the bass player on this CD and he also owns the studio, Sound Impressions, here in Paragould. Ken plays bass in the praise and worship band for one of the most dynamic non-denominational churches in Northeast Arkansas. Craig Morris is our piano player and backup harmony singer. Craig is a fabulous person, who plays piano for the legendary Loretta Lynn almost every week and has been on more albums coming out of Nashville, TN than you could imagine.Donna Rhodes does all the female backup vocals on We're Gonna Play Golf and has sung backup on a plethora of famous albums out of Nashville for years. Josh Costner is my son and I am so proud of him. He's a great backup singer, actor, mandolin player, guitar player and comedian. Me, well I just write the songs, play guitar, sing the lead vocals, act in the skits and play golf. My wonderful wife Margaret, not on the album, is the beauty and brains of the whole outfit. Without her, none of this would work. We know you are going to love this CD and we'd love to hear from you, so please contact us whenever you can.www.songsaboutgolf.com.Avila Beach Golf Resort - www.avilabeachresort.com Blacklake Golf Resort - www.blacklake.comInn at Avila Beach - www.avilabeachca.comAvila LaFonda Hotel - www.avilalafondahotel.comGolfland Warehouse - www.golflandwarehouse.comSlickstix - www.slickstix.comFor more information on Golf Talk Radio with Mike & Billy visit www.golftalkradio.com and visit www.centralcoasttoday.com for Golf Talk TV with Mike & Billy.
