A dead whale discovered on Kilmacreehy Beach in County Clare over the weekend has been identified as a Sowerby's Beaked Whale — a rarely seen deep-water species found in the North Atlantic. The discovery has prompted an examination by the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, with researchers hoping to learn more about the animal and the circumstances surrounding its death. Alan Morrissey was joined by Stephanie Levesque to explain what happens when a whale strands on our coastline, what scientists can learn from these events, and why the public is being urged to keep a safe distance from stranded marine mammals. What would drive someone to voluntarily swim through the most dangerous ocean channels on the planet — no wetsuit, no cage, no way out except forward? In this episode, we sit down with Mark Sowerby, one of the few athletes in the world to complete the Ocean's Seven — often described as the Everest of open water swimming — a feat achieved by just 36 swimmers. His new film, Don't Be Prey, captures a decade-long pursuit across five continents and seven of the most brutal channels on Earth. From the freezing Irish Sea to the shark-patrolled waters of Hawaii, it's raw, unfiltered man versus nature — no protection, no shortcuts. But this isn't just a story about distance or danger. After a life-changing event leaves him searching for direction, Mark channels his anguish into purpose with the help of coach Tim Denyer. Together, they build a mindset around one simple but powerful mantra: keep the stroke steady, don't splash, keep the heart rate down — don't be prey. We go beyond the film to explore the swims that nearly broke him, the unseen moments of doubt, and what the ocean taught him about fear, patience, resilience, and staying calm when everything around you is chaos. This is a conversation about endurance — not just in the water, but in life. Let's dive in.

This week we explore the music of DSB. A British based band, previously known as the Dan Sowerby band. Digging into the roots of the blues and performing many live shows around the UK, the band became recognised by plenty of scouts and critics. But then the pandemic struck, and like many bands and musicians, this was a time to reflect. Dan remodelled the band and took a step forward developing the bandit an alternative rock stroke blues keeping some of those raw elements of the roots, but expressing his talent as a song writer and musician. Now the DSB, they have their own genre, carving out of this new stage....I enjoyed their music and look forward to catching up with them very soon. Motorcycle Rental Tenerife Edf. Raymond Bisha introduces a new album of works for string quartet by Florence Price and Leo Sowerby, who were both prominent members of the Chicago music community in the 1930s and 1940s. Most of Florence Price's compositions remained unpublished at her death, and her String Quartet in A minor was not performed in her lifetime. Her Five Folksongs in Counterpoint entwine and enrich the famous melodies with African American vernacular idioms and colourful harmony, while Sowerby's String Quartet in G minor reveals music undeserving of its decades of obscurity in the Avalon Quartet's world premiere recording of the work.

What We Cover In This Episode: Levi's journey with his own health and why helping people with others is so important to him personally [2:43] His take on what corrective fitness is, and a breakdown of the 4 key elements laid out by NASM [8:11] The steps that Levi took that led him to where he is today with his career and the qualifications he has obtained along the way [13:49] His advice for trainers that are struggling to see the pain with their clients and who want to get into more of a corrective fitness modality to help them [24:30] How acceptance of the therapy model is now greater since the pandemic, and why Levi feels this is good thing [32:15] The ways in which his clientele has evolved and the type of clients that excites him the most right now to work with [33:41] A look at what Levi is working on at this time and the significant pivot he is making with the coaching he offers [36:00] Quotes: “The medical professional that I had seen at the time told me that there was no hope in the medical realm for me, ordered me in a wheelchair and just sent me home. I decided I'm not going to give up hope, and I'm just going to learn everything I can.” [Levi, 3:18] “The place that they generally start is trying to train strength into weakened or disengaged muscles, which seems like the intuitive way to go. If I were to encourage anyone out there who doesn't have a corrective exercise background, just take it one step further and stretch out the opposing muscle, the one that's shortened and is demanding the joint.” [Levi, 11:30] “As far back as I can remember, I've always seen and perceived stress in peoples' bodies, just by looking at them. I know that might sound odd, but it's just always been how it's been, and as a kid I didn't necessarily know what to do with that information I was perceiving.” [Levi, 13:54] “It's so foundational, but if these were the first steps that people took and they aligned their body, then trainers like that are going to have way better chances of having those good outcomes.” [Levi, 30:09] “I think that's one of the silver linings that came out of Covid-19. People had to reflect inward, and modalities like what I'm talking about have more room because people are more willing to look at that.” [Levi, 32:36] LINKS: Levi's Instagram & LinkedIn Book A Call with Levi James Waslaski Gray Cook Dr. Kerry D'Ambrogio fitDEGREE's Business Portal https://calendly.com/fitdegree/support support@fitDEGREE.com https://www.instagram.com/fitdegree/ https://www.instagram.com/fitspot_guru/ https://www.instagram.com/whycoachingandconsulting/ https://www.fitdegree.com/blog https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChJ5rK6zWPXjbxtUQx3ys9Q
