Tubi may not have the same name recognition as Netflix or Hulu, but the streamer continues to offer original content, with several recent programs targeting younger viewers. That's the case with "Kissing Is the Easy Part," an adaptation of a romance novel by Christine Duann. The film stars Paris Berelc and Asher Angel, who both chat with co-host Bruce Miller about the film. Before that, Miller and co-host Terry Lipshetz chat about the Winter Olympics, which are in full swing, as well as their interactions with Olympians over the years. Miller also talks about the new miniseries "Love Story," the FX/Hulu program from Ryan Murphy that looks at the relationship between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. And finally, Lipshetz not only names off all of the "Bridgerton" characters A through H, but offers his thoughts on the latest season, which recently dropped the first half of season 4 on Netflix with the second half to come at the end of February. This season takes a Cinderella story approach with Benedict and his love interest. About the show Streamed & Screened is a podcast about movies and TV hosted by Bruce Miller, a longtime entertainment reporter who is the retired editor of the Sioux City Journal in Iowa and Terry Lipshetz, a senior producer for Lee Enterprises based in Madison, Wisconsin. The show was named Best Podcast in the 2025 Iowa Better Newspaper Contest. Theme music Thunder City by Lunareh, used under license from Soundstripe. YouTube clearance: FV694ULMCJQDG0IY

Humans do some pretty weird things. Some of us will sit in searingly hot rooms or jump into icy ponds. Others risk their lives trying to climb to new heights or dive to new depths. And every once in a while, two otherwise normal-seeming humans will lean in close to each other, open mouths, lock lips, and swap a hearty helping of microbes. You may even know people who've done this. But why? Are we the only animals who kiss? What could be the deeper origins of this truly bizarre behavior? My guest today is Dr. Matilda Brindle. Matilda is an Evolutionary Biologist at the University of Oxford. She's interested in understanding the origins of behaviors and traits across the animal kingdom. But it's not just any traits she's interested in—she tends to favor those that are a bit risque. Here, Matilda and I talk about the puzzle at the heart of human kissing behavior. We discuss the possible adaptive functions of kissing—and of romantic kissing in particular. We walk through her recent paper in which—drawing on observations across primates species—she and her colleagues reconstructed the phylogeny of kissing behavior. They found that kissing is present in almost all the Great Apes—and also in several species of monkeys—and that it may go back around 20 million years. We sketch different proposals for how kissing may have evolved, such as the idea that it originally grew out of "premastication"—the practice of chewing up food for infants and transferring that food by mouth. And, of course, we consider the cultural side of kissing—and how to make sense of the fact that, despite these ancient roots in the primate lineage, romantic kissing is by no means universal to all human groups. Hope you enjoy this one, friends—offered in spirit of Valentine's Day, of course. Kissing may seem like a light-hearted or frivolous topic, but—as I hope you'll appreciate—it opens up some big, thorny, compelling questions. And, in fact, it's finally attracting serious attention from scholars of all kinds interested in the different dimensions of social behavior. Without further ado, here's my interview with Dr. Matilda Brindle. Notes 3:00 – Dr. Brindle's paper, 'A comparative approach to the phylogeny of kissing,' coauthored with Dr. Catherine Talbot and Dr. Stuart West. 10:00 – An academic review of "postcopulatory sexual selection." 15:45 – The study examining the convergence of oral microbiota in kissing couples. The same study quantified the amount of microbial transfer during kissing. 18:00 – For more on the "grass-in-ear" phenomenon among chimpanzees and other such arbitrary-seeming animal behaviors, see our earlier episode about animal cultures. For the more recent "grass-in-bum" phenomenon, see here. 21:30 – For Dr. Brindle's work on the adaptive functions of masturbation in primates, see here. 32:00 – For popular coverage of Dr. Brindle's work, highlighting the likelihood that humans and Neanderthals kissed, see here. 39:00 – The book, Biological Exuberance, by Bruce Bagemihl. 43:00 – For the study on the presence of romantic kissing across cultures, see here. 47:00 – For indirect (linguistic) evidence for the prevalence of "smell-kissing" across Southeast Asia, see here. For more on this style of greeting, see Kensy's post here. 50:00 – For the proposal that kissing is rooted in "oral grooming," see here. 58:00 – For the larger special issue on the origins of kissing, of which Dr. Brindle's paper is part, see here. 1:00:30 – For Dr. Brindle's work on "bacula" (aka "penis bones"), see here. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re single and still hoping to find love, this might be the perfect moment to rethink how you date. There are very different takes on modern dating, ones that challenge swipe culture, instant chemistry, and even something as basic as kissing on a first date. Her ideas have sparked a lot of conversation online, but at their core, they’re about slowing down, setting boundaries, and being more intentional about who you let into your life. Chantal Heide, Canada’s Dating Coach, spoke to Andrew Carter.

Welcome to another FULL SHOW episode of The Rizzuto Show, your favorite daily comedy podcast where common sense taps out and chaos takes the wheel. On today's episode, the crew tackles winter survival mistakes, social etiquette nightmares, and the very thin line between being helpful and becoming a Dateline episode. We kick things off with cold-weather car chaos, including why pouring boiling water on your windshield is a fast track to buying a new one. From broken ice scrapers to keys snapping off in car doors, the show relives some truly traumatic winter vehicle memories—proving once again that our parents somehow survived the ‘90s without hand sanitizer or logic.Things escalate when Lern admits to waking up a stranger who was asleep in her running car at a gas pump. Was it the right thing to do? Was it wildly unsafe? Should you ever approach a sleeping stranger? The room splits immediately, instant feedback pours in, and suddenly paramedics, gut instincts, and Ted Bundy references enter the chat. Just another calm morning on a daily comedy show. From there, the crew debates the art of car napping, the safest places to snooze between jobs, and why sleeping near playgrounds is always a hard no. Add in rest stop horror stories, debit-card-out-the-window driving hacks, and aggressive opinions about heater naps, and you've got a masterclass in American exhaustion. The episode also tackles one of life's biggest modern dilemmas: is it rude not to talk to your Uber driver? From quiet ride preferences to unhinged conspiracy chats, the gang breaks down the polite ways to avoid conversation without becoming a monster. Bonus content includes massage therapists who chew ice mid-session and why that should absolutely be illegal. Then it's time for Facebook Marketplace Price Is Right, featuring a homemade Predator helmet with real dreadlocks, questionable pricing strategies, and immediate rule disputes—because nothing says democracy like arguing over cosplay gear from Eureka, Missouri. The chaos continues with National Fart Day, showering-with-a-friend discourse, disaster preparedness reminders, and a shocking realization that some people don't know where their smoke detectors are. The show wraps with some hometown pride as St. Louis racks up major nominations as one of the best beer cities in America—because if there's one thing STL knows, it's brewing and arguing. If you like sarcastic humor, awkward social situations, weird news, and conversations that spiral wildly out of control, this daily comedy podcast is exactly what you deserve.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Winter driving hacks you should (and shouldn't) tryMale Cook Died In Olive Garden HorrorEastbourne: Former public toilet to become Mexican restaurant and shop as plans approvedThe Best Super Bowl Snack Of All Time, According To Delish FansHoney product recalled over undeclared erectile dysfunction ingredientSt. Louis Galleria restaurant recently closed with little notice after more than 30 yearsNew study finds the “100 Most Romantic Restaurants” across the countryThe Most Romantic Drive-Thru in the U.S. Is Opening Just in Time for Valentine's DaySt. Louis nominated top beer city in USA TODAY 10Best awardsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week's Mixtape Rewind takes you back to where Matt and Sam reviewed memorable first tracks from albums. The first track can make you stay, skip, or fall in love. We dove into 12 album openers that don't just start a record — they define it — and traced how a great intro sets the promise for everything that follows. From the sunlit optimism of the Beach Boys' Wouldn't It Be Nice to the neon stride of Taylor Swift's Welcome to New York, we explore how artists use track one to signal a theme, a shift, or a dare.We share the moments that hooked us: Alanis Morissette cutting straight to the bone on All I Really Want, Pearl Jam's Once roaring to life as a debut mission statement, and Chance the Rapper turning gospel joy into a full-album thesis on All We Got. We also talk about pivots and reinvention — Springsteen's The E Street Shuffle breaking from his Dylan-leaning debut, and Swift's leap from Nashville to skyscraper synth-pop — and why that boldness belongs right up front. Along the way, we celebrate high-voltage openers like Sleigh Bells' Tell 'Em, the literate punch of Titus Andronicus' A More Perfect Union, the tender sting of Dashboard Confessional's Hands Down, the bittersweet charm of The Shins' Kissing the Lipless, and Andrew Bird's Fiery Crash turning an airline safety demo into a meditation on mortality. This is a love letter to sequencing, storytelling, and the lost art of letting an album guide your night. Matt and Samer go through twelve songs that served as the opening tracks for some amazing albums. You can find the mix here on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/04FSmhh5ejKJ5oDdPr1WED?si=060ea013ab8c4c761. Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey react to Episodes 1–6 of FRIENDS Season 5, the immediate aftermath of the iconic London wedding cliffhanger and the beginning of one of the show's most beloved eras. These episodes kick off with big emotional fallout, escalating romantic tension, and a string of classic sitcom misunderstandings that push the group into hilarious new territory. This stretch includes Episode 1, “The One After Ross Says Rachel,” dealing with the shocking consequences of Ross's wedding mishap; Episode 2, “The One with All the Kissing,” where secrets ripple through the group; Episode 3, “The One Hundredth,” a milestone episode centered on Phoebe's labor; Episode 4, “The One Where Phoebe Hates PBS,” featuring quirky guest appearances and emotional bonding; Episode 5, “The One with the Kips,” which turns romantic tension into full-blown chaos; and Episode 6, “The One with the Yeti,” exploring jealousy, insecurity, and some very cold relationship moments. Iconic moments from these episodes include Ross facing the fallout of his wedding, Phoebe giving birth to triplets, the secret romance that begins to quietly change the group forever, and escalating jealousy that fuels some of the season's funniest and most heartfelt scenes. This run marks a tonal shift for FRIENDS, blending broader comedy with deeper long-term storytelling. Welcome back, everyone, for the conclusion of my interview with Author and retired FBI Special Agent Seamus McElearney. Séamus McElearney began his distinguished career with the FBI in 1998, joining Squad C-10 of the New York Organized Crime Branch. Tasked with investigating the Bonanno and DeCavalcante crime families—infamously known as “the real Sopranos.” In December 1999, he was assigned to arrest Anthony Capo, a violent soldier in the DeCavalcante family, as part of a sweeping indictment. Not only did he safely execute the arrest, but he also achieved a historic breakthrough: persuading Capo to become the first made member in the family’s century-long history to cooperate with law enforcement. This unprecedented move triggered a domino effect of cooperation that ultimately led to the dismantling of the DeCavalcante family. In all, 71 defendants were convicted, and 11 murders were solved. Following this six-year investigation, Séamus was promoted to lead Squad C-38, overseeing the Colombo crime family. Under his leadership, the squad dismantled the Colombos through a series of operations—including spearheading the largest Mafia takedown in FBI history. As Supervisor, Séamus oversaw investigations that led to the conviction of more than 200 defendants and the resolution of 20 murders. Throughout his career as an Agent and Supervisor, Séamus helped convict ten Mafia bosses, recover five bodies, and solve the murder of an NYPD officer. He was part of historic FBI teams that dismantled three organized crime families—an achievement no one else can claim. Seamus is also the author of the popular book, Flipping Capo: How the FBI Dismantled the Real Sopranos. I’m a fan of the TV show The Sopranos, so it was amazing listening to Seamus explain how the “Real Sopranos” operated and how they were dismantled and brought to justice by Seamus and his team. Please enjoy my conversation with Seamus! In today’s episode, we discuss: · How he got Capo to flip. · Capo was a soldier in the mob. What is the rank system of the mob? · What is involved in a ‘made man’ ceremony? (Kissing rings, burning saints, etc...) · Why are we so fascinated with mobsters? · What is the FBI’s role in WITSEC? · How do you keep a rat safe if they are in jail or out on bail? · 9/11, how the FBI changed after that day. · How long did it take to put together the case against the DeCavalcante crime family? · How did the DeCavalcante crime family coexist with the five New York crime families? · Is it true that old-school mobsters didn’t mess with women or children? When did this change? · The Sopranos. What did Hollywood get right and wrong about mob life regarding The Sopranos? · The advice he would give to someone who wants to be an FBI agent. · Sylvester Stallone’s series, The Tulsa King. All of this and more on today’s episode of the Cops and Writers podcast. Visit Seamus's website to learn more about him and his book. Check out the new Cops and Writers YouTube channel! We learn about the Selena documentary, and the life, career, and death of the Tejano singer, who was killed by a disgruntled employee. We find out the evolutionary advantage of kissing, which animals do it, how scientists define "kissing," and why it actually could protect us from harm. Susie explains why raccoons might become the next domesticated animals, why they seem to be ushering in their pet era, and why experts are convinced it's inevitable. We discuss the new female test dummy (or smartie as Susie calls her), and why it took so long to get it made, why people still aren't happy, and why it's so expensive to make. We're mad at the Guinness World Book of Records again because of their evolving business model and the schemes they're using to make bank. And Susie talks about the Stiller and Meara documentary, about the comedy duo and their famous son, Ben Stiller, and why despite their fame, they're more relatable than you'd think.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDYGo to https://cozyearth.com and use my code BRAINCANDY for up to 20% off!Get $35 off Aura's best-selling Carver Mat frames - named #1 by Wirecutter - by going to https://auraframes.com and using promo code BRAINCANDY at checkout.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
