Will we preserve the Agrarian way that Wendell Berry calls "the given life"? Farms and non-profits throughout the Country are stepping up to that challenge. In the Ohio River Valley, Turner Farm is all in to preserve the way of life of a certain kind of agriculture. Appropriately located on "Given Road" in Indian Hills on the outskirts of Cincinnati, Turner Farm teaches responsibility to the earth and to the land we have stewardship over--existing to take care of what we've been given and to educate consumers and aspiring farmers. Their work assures that there will be a place for people to connect to their food and to the land for perpetuity. Danny Losekamp started thinking about these needs while he was still a soldier serving in Iraq. Abby Lundrigan was an art history major who decided her best future would be on a farm. Today Danny is Turner Farm's Manager of Livestock and Pastures and Abby is Crop Production Manager. They join us for Farm To Table Talk. www.turnerfarm.org

Today’s guest is Danny Harvey. Danny is the Director of Financial Planning & Finance Faculty at Prairie View A&M University. He is also a professional speaker and financial advisor. He came from humble beginnings where he didn’t go without, but he also didn’t realize how little they actually had. He was raised by a single-mother that taught him the principles of hard work and saving money. He became great at saving money even though he didn’t really know what he was saving it for. While going to college was something he wanted to do, it was also something he was told that he was going to do. Danny majored in economics at Texas A&M. His plan was to work for an investment firm, get rich, and then eventually become a professor and financial advisor when he was old and gray. But, life doesn’t always go as we plan. He transitioned to a position as a professor and advisor far sooner than he thought and he isn’t looking back. Today Danny will share with us more about the lessons he wished he would have listened to when he first heard them in college along with the lessons that he is working to teach high school and college students. In This Episode We Discuss: Why it’s better to be wise and learn from someone else’s mistake instead of always using life and personal experience to learn lessons the hard way. Why we need to start educating students about personal finances in high school instead of waiting until college courses. Danny talks about a program he started with this classes where the college students go into high school classrooms to educate the students. Understanding that money is a tool and you need to know how to put that tool to work for you and your future. And, the sooner you do it the better it is. The importance of having a fluid financial plan that is able to adapt as your life and goals change. Danny on Instagram: instagram.com/mrdannyharvey/ Danny on Twitter: twitter.com/mrdannyharvey Danny on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/danny-harvey-mba/ Word of the Day: Wisdom I liked the way Danny defined wisdom as learning from someone else’s mistakes. Why learn financial mistakes the hard way? It can take a long time to recover from handling your finances wrong. That’s one reason regular discussions about money is so important. The more you can learn from others the fewer hard lessons that are going to come your way. If you still feel stuck or have questions start asking everyone around you. If you have financial questions, suggestions for guests, or would like to share your own money memoir, please contact us through our website worth-listening.com. If you're liking the show, make sure to let me know by leaving a review or sending an email to podcast@worth-listening.com.

It's a hard hitting episode where Harry and Danny get to know each other better by talking about how strict each others parents are . Who won in this battle of the comedians? Well let's just say the winner is the first ever 12 year old jewish Santa Claus. This and the startling revelation that dogs are fun to own. Also the N word might have came up like 10 times.
