We recently ran a list of 25 classic emo & post-hardcore albums turning 10 in 2023, and we dive even deeper into those albums on the new episode of the BrooklynVegan podcast. Joining us to discuss such classics as Touché Amoré's Is Survived By, Citizen's Youth, TWIABP's Whenever, If Ever, Foxing's The Albatross, Balance and Composure's The Things We Think We're Missing, and more is Drew Beringer of Chorus.fm (fka Absolute Punk), who documented so much of this scene in real time on AP.net back in the day. Come for the emo talk, stay for the tangent about Metallica's St. Anger. See the full list at https://www.brooklynvegan.com/25-classic-emo-post-hardcore-albums-turning-10-in-2023/. It's the one where David is joined by Chris Teti (guitar) of Connecticut band The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die.Since their formation in 2009, TWIABP have managed to successfully merge the worlds of post-hardcore, post-rock, indie rock, and more.Creating such a sprawling, and eclectic sound, leads to the listener discovering something new with each listen. Whether it's a new guitar part, a line of lyric, or even something buried deep in the mix, listening through a release from the band is never the same twice. For this interview, David asked Chris to bring 5 songs from TWIABP that he could share the stories behind. They discuss what went into the creation of the songs, as well as insight into production choices and tricks, that Chris made while paying on and producing the records. They also discover some of the easter eggs strewn throughout the entirety of TWIABP's discography, guaranteeing you'll never listen to the band the same way again.JOIN OUR DISCORD: https://discord.com/invite/2UhJ7YxJOIN OUR PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/growingpunkpodGRAB SOME MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/growingpunkpodWEBSITE: https://growingpunkpod.comTWITTER: @growingpunkpodINSTAGRAM: @growingpunkpodFACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/growinguppunkpod/

As broadcast October 14, 2021 with plenty of extra stones to throw for you podcast troublemakers. We begin tonight noting a lawsuit from 2003 by Barrington Henderson, the last of the original Temptations and a former member of The Dramatics who sued the band and Motown on this date for lack of royalties. After that, we had new joints from some people that are becoming legends right now such as Adrian Quesada, Web Web, and Flevans along with older joints from The Ebonys and a remix of an Otis Redding classic to boot! Lots of new tunes as well in our 2nd hour with Dan Lloyd, with albums already out as of last week from Sam Fender and The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, along with a new upcoming album from (speaking of living legends) Billy Bragg.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)The Dramatics – Your Love Was StrangeOtis Redding – Hard To Handle (DJ Spinna Galactic Funk Remix)Brownout – I Won't LieAdrian Quesada feat Brownout – Funky ChickMF Robots – Mother Funkin' Robots (alt vers)Flevans – Loose Gardener Part II (32:26)Web Web – Inner RevolutionWeb Web & Mulatu Astatke – Meskel Flowers (alt vers)Emanative feat Ahu – Turn The Lights OnMeernaa – BellsYellow Days – Belong TogetherThe Ebonys – Life In The Country Part III (62:41)Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes – Off With His Head ft CassyetteSam Fender – The LevellerThe World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die – TroubleDan Andriano and the Bygones – Dear DarknessGang of Youths – The Man Himself Part IV (93:00)The Last Gang – ShamelessCirca Survive – Impostor SyndromeWe Are the Union / Eve 6 – Sound System (Operation Ivy cover)Billy Bragg – Mid Century ModernNoah Gundersen – Atlantis ft. It’s time for a new season of the podcast! In this first episode back from the extended break, I sat down with Josh Cyr - who is the bassist from the band, The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die. We chilled out in the band’s tour van right before its sold out gig at the Great Scott in Boston - where Josh also played double duty playing bass for the opening act, Harmony Woods. Josh and I had a quick chat about his history in music, with TWIABP, and his perspectives on toxic and performative masculinity in the music scene. Essentially, our conversation can be boiled down to DON’T BE A DICK - which is fitting because one of the pieces of educational materials that our nonprofit provides goes by the same title. Alas, so thankful for Josh taking a moment out of his busy evening to chat with me.MUSIC NOTE:- This week you got to hear tunes from the new “Assorted Works” release from The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die. This 2xLP was recently issued by Triple Crown Records and it compiles a number of b-sides, songs from splits, and 7” releases into one massive collection of tunes from one of the most influential sources of music to hit the new wave of the emo scene for over a decade.- On this episode, you got to hear the tracks, “From the Crow’s Nest on Fire Street” and “Katamari Duquette.” You can check out the entire “Assorted Works” release through all of the streaming platforms! Also, snag a vinyl copy of the album as well!

We're back after a mini (and unforeseen) little break in our podcasting schedule. But, things are now back on track. This week's episode of the podcast looks at some follow-up on our last episode and The Wonder Years, Apple Music's trial ending and if we're going to keep paying for it, how we handle and get album advances, the new TWIABP album, the new Motion City Soundtrack album, Ryan Adams' '1989' cover album, and the whole Collect Records/pharma-bro thing. Thank you to everyone that listens to our podcast each week. We've got some really awesome things prepared for the future of the podcast and we're sorry for disappearing for the past three weeks. Welcome back to the Mind Equals Blown Podcast! This week, Nick is joined by Connor and Tim to breakdown some of their most anticipated upcoming fall tours. But it mostly gives them tangents to go off on, like how dope The Academy Is... were at Riot Fest, how stoked they are on the new TWIABP record, and why Bring Me The Horizon are getting praise for writing a boring radio rock album. It's certainly an interesting episode and it touches on a wide range of topics, so make sure to check it out! NOTE- We had some technical issues, so this one unfortunately has no theme song or intro, it just goes straight into the episode. It's abrupt and kind of awkward, but the episode is great so just overlook that. Thanks fam :)
