By Mary Lindow This podcast is going to be directed towards the question that many people are asking, (and of course a lot of times believers don't “ask the question” because they fear that they are going to be judged for asking such a question!) But if we don't ask, we don't get answers, and so today's podcast is addressing “What is the Holy Spirit doing during this season”. I have spent time praying and seeking the Lord well for a good month now and it's been an interesting time since the last time we were together, and of course, the assignments God puts or put us into, IN different season of life, they never come without challenges and also without redemptive opportunities! And so, that's what I'm going to be addressing! I've heard from the Spirit of God about what I'm to share. I am cautious about giving a word for a specific year because it begins to be kind of a measuring stick for some people to then either compete with or, that's all they go by. “What the Lord said for 2024, 2023”, whatever, and they don't listen for themselves, because sometimes it's not about the year, it's about the season, and a season can be more than one year! It can be more than a week, it can be a month or two! Wherever we are in the Presence of God in our lives, walking with Jesus, we are in a season, and that season that we're in right now is a very different time. That's where we're heading today and I encourage you to share this word with those who are crying out to God for answers. The things that are coming up in this next time and in life for all of us, They're going to be challenging! In order to have the times of refreshing we are crying out for and, Are desperate for as believers, We must learn to rule and reign with grace. Refreshing rains will not fall, and cannot fall in full glory, when we refuse to lay down judgments, manipulations, and self invented “spiritual rules” that do not run parallel with the King of grace who is the ULTIMATE Mercy bringer in this present season. The conviction of God will be strong to cleanse the heart of falsity, the fear of man and the passivity of half repentance for works of the flesh. We can get all the people that we know around the globe to pray for us and to pray over us, but we cannot force out the devil and the darkness of our own unforgiveness and intentional blame-shifting. We give the enemy consistent access to our churches and our lives as long as we “lord it over others”, hiding our own sin, pretending that God does not see. To operate or flow in Mercy means to perform out of a desire to relieve suffering, and is motivated by compassion. The action of forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. Mercy shown, prevents something unpleasant or provides relief from suffering. IN THIS SEASON, THE SPIRIT OF GOD DESIRES EVERY BELIEVER TO DO THEMSELVES AN ETERNAL FAVOR. TELL THE TRUTH. God will protect you more for doing this than any self-invented cover-up ever could. And, you just might regain relationships with those you have used as stepping-stones to your own deviant self-empowerment. THE HEAVENLY KING OF GLORY IS ALWAYS AND FOREVER CREATING NEWNESS OF LIFE! If we are indeed man or a woman of prayer, the test will come of that deep prayer life when your enemies surround you, accuse you, and often attempt to execute and silence you. Some will manifest in this next year as false friends who use and abuse your friendships and contacts, in order to gain access to notoriety and power over all of the things you are supposed be preparing for yourself. They will exhaust and weaken you until you once and for all put upon the altar of surrender, any need for someone else to carry you or promote you. A man or a woman of prayer in these days, right now, will learn to sweep out iniquity, falseness, slander, and “hierarchical pecking orders” through goodness and humility. This is a time to trust, to depend upon, to lean upon, the goodness of the Lord. This is a time to trust in His sovereignty more than ever before. It is His right to define what grace is. It is not man's right. Prophetic Exhortation “And so says the Lord, the Spirit of Grace, the Voice of Wisdom, and the only Almighty One. As you cry out for times of refreshing, for a change in the hearts of men, for a move of my Spirit across the lands of Earth, my command to you is that you begin to create an atmosphere where I may speak My plans, according to My Word and according to My prerogatives. I will lead you and guide you with enough light each day, as you come to that narrow place with me. I will strengthen your weakened emotions and spiritual discernment as you dialogue in honesty with me. Some of you must quickly repent of foolish choices and foolish actions that have caused many to be shattered and shamed because you spoke out of a title or calling, rather than out of following my voice. Begin to dig wells in prayer. Become entrenched and immersed in it, never ceasing. Prepare places where my rain may fall and cause a fresh drinking place for those yet to taste of my goodness, as well as for those who are thirsty within my Body. Begin to dig wells in prayer in dry places, with humility and goodness. Lean upon me, trust in me, do not lean upon your own understanding, for you have well seen that having done this in the past you have missed many opportunities to prepare a way of salvation for others. “I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.” (Isaiah 48:10) So comfort yourself, weary and tried believer with this thought. Does not the word come like a soft shower, quieting the fury of the flame? Is it not a fireproof armor against the heat, which will then have no power? Whatever happens to you in this valley of weeping, know that I have chosen it for you. If you still require an even greater comfort, remember that you have the Son of man with you in the valley, in that “secret place” with you. There He sits by your side, One whom you have not seen but whom you love and whether you know it or not, this is the true friend who sticks closely by you. I will never leave one whom I have chosen as my own. Great grace. Great mercy. Great promise. All these are yours, extended from my hand, and for you to extend, from your hand. NOW IS THE SEASON… …To live out the heart and life of the servant as I lead you with the little light that you have at this time. It is all you need as long as it comes from me. It is a time to learn to march forward, to dig wells, to prepare, so that others may also drink freely with no restraints. When I come and speak to you and move among you, I express everything that is pure and lovely and has a good report and sin and uncleanliness depart. Peace also rains when I move with humble power. Gentleness will be the result of my transforming power. Harmlessness will follow, for hearts that are touched by me are never exhibiting any feelings of superiority, self-assertiveness, or showiness. My grace is sufficient for you, and you will find it if you will seek it, and above all if you will express it! “Be strong in the grace that is in me.” (2 Timothy 2:1) As a reservoir empties itself into pipes, so have I emptied out my grace for my people in this Next Wave of My Heart. From my fullness you have received “Grace for Grace”. Grace is always available from me, without price. “Keep yourselves then, from overconfident, arrogant sins.” (Psalm 19:13) You will certainly stumble if you look away from the One who is able to keep you from falling. Be very cautious about pushing yourself into the forefront of public gatherings and among the more visible. If you are to be used in higher visibility, let it be Me who promotes you there. Some who drive themselves to the forefront will also have greater scrutiny and unfortunate exposure of hidden agendas and unholy transactions in this season, and sadly will be brought low again because of their self presumption of importance. If your love is fervent, your faith constant, and your hope bright, continue nonetheless to be on your guard and cry out, “Keep us from temptation!” The seasons revolve according to my Divine appointment and man cannot change their schedule. In the spiritual as in the natural realm, man's power is limited. I alone can remove the winter of spiritual death from an individual or from a church. Let me hear you say, “Not my will, but as you will oh Lord!” As you yield to me my people, I will yield in return and bring the sweetness of my Holy Presence into your very homes, your gatherings, whether modest or larger numbers are attending. I look for honest, wisdom-filled, and humble people to move among and to move through. Let it be, as I desire! As I will! Allow me to determine what is the best for you. Be content to leave your prayer and your petitions in my hands. I know when to give, how to give, what to give, and what to withhold. As you visit me in the secret place of repentance and brokenness, as the path becomes narrower, seeking me earnestly and often times pleading with humility and resignation, you shall surely prevail! I am the light on your pathway. And, I AM all you need.” This Was A Strong Word From The Lord! I encourage you to listen to it and read it and meditate over it, several times, allowing the Holy Spirit to do a deeper work in your heart. When the Spirit of God speaks to us about a Season that we are in, or about things that are to come, we need to cleanse our hearts from being impatient, and allow Him to do that work that gets down deep inside and pushes out anything that we are running from, or, He begins to deal with the things that we have been asking questions about, and now he's bringing the answers. I bless you today and encourage you to dedicate yourselves to rich and set apart time in prayer and fellowship with the King of heaven. I encourage you to dig wells in prayer. It's not glamorous! But, I can tell you this we've been having prayer gatherings every Thursday evening now for well over two years now, actually, three now, and I can tell you that there have been nights where it seems like two hours went by and it felt like 15 minutes. The presence of the Holy Spirit is so sweet and thick, and you know the scripture talks about “the weight of his glory” (2 Corinthians 16-18) there is a presence of weight, a thickness of the presence of God, a rich atmosphere. We have seen the impossible take place in prayer! We have seen lives changed, we have seen court cases reversed, we have seen sick bodies be recovered and restored and miracles take place in families. We are grateful to the Lord that when we come together in his name, he is there with us, and that scripture that says whenever two or more gather in my name there I am in the midst of them, (Matthew 18:20), that can correspond with the scripture verse that talks about a threefold cord is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12), and that's like three strands of a braid. When we are braided together, that's a strong bond with the Lord and He is like a cord that's bound to us whenever we gather and it's not easily broken and cannot be broken by any other force, We live in the presence of a Sovereign, Mighty Force, and that is the Savior, Jesus Christ. Just as we are attempting to eliminate force out of our national relationships, and just as it is obvious today that the process of drastic penalties has not succeeded in preventing crime or in deterring people from violent selfishness (for that is what all crime is), and just as the social attitude (in contradistinction to the anti-social position of all law-breakers) is being regarded as desirable and taught in our schools, so it is beginning to dawn upon the public consciousness that the inculcation of right relations and the spread of self-control and the growth of unselfishness (and these surely are the goal, subjective and oft unrealised, of all legal procedure) are the needed approach to the young. The key for growth is the cultivation of harmlessness. Harmlessness is not negativity or inaction; it is a condition of "perfect poise, a completed point of view and divine understanding".

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Paper: Constitutional AI: Harmlessness from AI Feedback (Anthropic), published by Lawrence Chan on December 16, 2022 on The AI Alignment Forum. The authors propose a method for training a harmless AI assistant that can supervise other AIs, using only a list of rules (a "constitution") as human oversight. The method involves two phases: first, the AI improves itself by generating and revising its own outputs; second, the AI learns from preference feedback, using a model that compares different outputs and rewards the better ones. The authors show that this method can produce a non-evasive AI that can explain why it rejects harmful queries, and that can reason in a transparent way, better than standard RLHF: Paper abstract: As AI systems become more capable, we would like to enlist their help to supervise other AIs. We experiment with methods for training a harmless AI assistant through selfimprovement, without any human labels identifying harmful outputs. The only human oversight is provided through a list of rules or principles, and so we refer to the method as ‘Constitutional AI'. The process involves both a supervised learning and a reinforcement learning phase. In the supervised phase we sample from an initial model, then generate self-critiques and revisions, and then finetune the original model on revised responses. In the RL phase, we sample from the finetuned model, use a model to evaluate which of the two samples is better, and then train a preference model from this dataset of AI preferences. We then train with RL using the preference model as the reward signal, i.e. we use ‘RL from AI Feedback' (RLAIF). As a result we are able to train a harmless but nonevasive AI assistant that engages with harmful queries by explaining its objections to them. Both the SL and RL methods can leverage chain-of-thought style reasoning to improve the human-judged performance and transparency of AI decision making. These methods make it possible to control AI behavior more precisely and with far fewer human labels. See also Anthropic's tweet thread: Thanks for listening. Harmlessness as a virtue –– as an embodied energy, may be one of our most demanding calls as a species. It's a commitment to the Universal Truth that can be hard to uphold. It's tempting to wish harm on the harmful. The shadow self defines justice by metrics of punishment. But Harmlessness… harmlessness is the way our Divine Nature pursues justice. We speak Truth –– without superiority hooks, or malice. We hang above the drama and duality. We offer the course of Right Action. We stay mindful that we all come from the same source. Higher Love is a tall order in these days of division. Here's a short podcast on why the high road is actually highly efficient –– and makes miracles happen.
In this episode Andrew talks about the second factor of the Buddha's Noble Eightfold Path: "Wise Intention". Andrew discusses the link between Wise View and Wise Intention (the first two "wisdom factors" of the eightfold path), the 3 ways that the Buddha taught about intention in the suttas, and then finally he discusses the 3 wise intentions: renunciation, goodwill, and harmlessness. Renunciation combats craving and greed, Goodwill combats aversion or illwill, and Harmlessness combats cruelty or harm. We hope you enjoy!
The Buddha spoke many times of the importance of practicing harmlessness. The most harmful mind is the mind of anger. The nature of anger is that it wishes to harm its object. Just as the nature of fire is to burn, the nature of anger is to harm. In this episode, we look at the causes of anger and conflict in our hearts. Sometimes we are at war with someone, a family member, a person at work, with society, our government, or a political party. We can understand and touch the war within ourselves. We can lay our conflicts down and experience peace where there was pain and turmoil. How does anger arise? Anger observes an object it finds unpleasant, dwells with inappropriate attention on the faults of that object. Then anger arises when the mind has become unpeaceful and uncontrolled. The great Buddhist Master Shantideva said there are two reasons we get angry: when we don't get what we want and when we have to put up with things we don't want. Edict of ancient Rome was: “If you want peace, you must prepare for war.” The result of this traditional way of thinking: 2,000 years of war, misery, destruction and annihilation. Millions of serious casualties. In the atomic age it is now high time we reversed this motto: “If you want peace, you must prepare for peace.” This means disarming instead of rearming.” —Dalai Lama Inner peace in the minds of human beings is the only foundation upon which a last outer peace--a world without war--is possible. The way to heal ourselves and society is the same. Loving-kindness and compassion are the antidotes to anger and hatred. A powerful antidote to anger is to accept people as they are. Another is having compassion for their struggles and personality quirks. We all have a personality quirk or two…Thich Nhat Hanh says that "We are challenged to apply an antidote as soon as anger arises, because of the far-reaching social effects of individual anger." A profound understanding of interdependence arises when we see others with compassion and take universal responsibility for the correlation between our inner peace and outer, or world peace. The vast web of life is such that the action of one person reverberates across the entire web. Do we have a universal responsibility to end the war within ourselves as an act of nonviolence and peace for the whole world? Always wide awake Are the disciples of Gotama Whose minds constantly, day and night, Delight in harmlessness. -Buddha, The Dhammapada If you are interested in learning how you can work with JoAnn Fox as a Life/Spiritual Coach, visit https://buddhismforeveryone.com/coaching References and Links Buddha. The Dhammapada. In this last of a three episode series on Right Intention, one of the Noble Eightfold Path, we look at how to practice the aspect of harmlessness. Right intention has three parts: Renunciation, Loving-kindness, and Harmlessness. Buddhist Teacher, JoAnn Fox, also shares a meditation and daily mindfulness practice to help us cultivate harmlessness. What is harmlessness in Buddhism Harmlessness is a mind that opposes the wish to harm. It is also a path we cultivate gradually to its highest fruition—becoming harmless toward all living beings. It is compassion that helps us develop harmlessness. If there is the wish to harm or a lack of empathy that causes us to inadvertently cause harm, we use compassion to render ourselves harmless. Compassion is cultivated gradually until it is unconditional and extends to all living beings being exception. It is at this point that we possess the pure Right Intention of Harmlessness. What are the benefits of developing compassion: Creates good karma Purifies bad karma Makes our mind strong and resilient Solves problems between people Creates the cause of enlightenment The Dalai Lama has also said it is the cause of success in life. Recently, he has even said that compassion is not a luxury, but a necessity for the survival of humanity: “We need compassion and human affection not only to survive; they are the ultimate sources of success in life.” -Dalai Lama The best of paths is the Eightfold [Path]; The best of truths, the Four [Noble Truths]. —Buddha, The Dhammapada The eight parts of the Noble Eightfold Path: Eightfold Path are Right View Right Intention Right Speech Right Action Right Livelihood Right Effort Right Mindfulness Right Concentration References and Links Bodhi, Bhikku. This episode begins a series in which we take a deep dive into the practice of each part of the Noble Eightfold Path. The Noble Eightfold Path is Buddha's guide to a gradual path to happiness and, if one chose to take it all the way, to enlightenment. In this episode we look at Right Intention. Right intention has three parts: Loving-kindness, Harmlessness, and Renunciation. We begin with the practice of renunciation. What is renunciation? Renunciation is not giving up pleasures, shaving our head, or giving away all our material possessions. Lama Yeshe explained, “If a situation is difficult, we can renounce it by giving it up or avoiding it; this may be called renunciation but it is not the renunciation of samsara. Or perhaps our heart is broken because we fought with our friend, so we move to another city to escape further pain. Again, this is not renunciation.” Renunciation is abandoning the unreal expectation that lasting happiness can be found in anything other than the development of inner causes of haplessness, such as mental peace, universal love, and wisdom. Renunciation is not giving up anything external, not giving up pleasures. It is a deep knowing that the ordinary happiness that relies on impermanent things will only lead to disappointment and dissatisfaction and a wish to be free of this cycle of pain. In Tibetan, renunciation is called the mind of definite emergence, implying that it is the mind that will definitely emerge from dissatisfaction and suffering. To practice renunciation means that, as our experience of renunciation deepens, we begin to turn toward the inner causes of happiness. The deeper our renunciation, the more we solve our problems inwardly and create a stable inner source of happiness and contentment. “We can always find some external cause to blame for our dissatisfaction — “There is not enough of this, not enough of that” — but this is never the real reason for our restlessness and disappointment. What is missing is inside and this is what we all have to recognize. Satisfaction is not dependent on material objects; it is something that comes from simplicity, inner simplicity.” —Lama Yeshe The eight practices of the Eightfold Path are Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration. The Eightfold Path contains three basic parts: ethical discipline, mental discipline, and wisdom. Is there this itch of dissatisfaction that follows you? Or think of what causes you the greatest suffering in life… Could following the spiritual path help you solve this? Could following the spiritual path help you find satisfaction and happiness? Do you have the wish to follow the spiritual path? It is up to you to make strong effort; Tathāgatas merely tell you how. Following the path, those absorbed in meditation Will be freed from Māra's bonds. (276)* “All created things are impermanent.” Seeing this with insight, One becomes disenchanted with suffering. This is the path to purity. —Buddha, The Dhammapada References and Links Bodhi, Bhikku. The Noble Eightfold Path. This week we're discussing a single quality that you can cultivate to totally turn your life around: harmlessness. This is such a powerful quality because of the universal laws that we live by here on earth. These are the laws of karma, cause and effect, and the law of attraction. These laws are really all one. They apply to us as individualised sparks of divinity in relationship with one another here on the earth plane. As souls in incarnation we are all on the spiritual path of developing right relations. This means having a right relationship with ourselves, knowing who we are, divine beings, and living our lives as if we really know this.It also means having right relations with others, treating all other life with love and respect, and creating conditions that are for the good of the whole, and not just our poor little beleaguered egos! This is where harmlessness comes in. The practice of harmlessness is the ONE THING that is going to help you create right relations as well as satisfying causes and effects, and thus balance your karma and attract good things into your life.Resources:Join The Better Than Happy Zone MembershipJanine's Quick Start Guide to Doable MeditationFrom The Heart of A Gentle Brother by BartholomewProblems of Humanity by Alice Bailey
Triangles is a simple meditation/visualization practice that can be fit into the busiest of schedules. Three people form a group and agree to link each day in thought. They visualize a triangle of light and goodwill being formed between each of the group members. The network as a whole, provides a real planetary service, anchoring the light, love, and goodwill of divinity into human consciousness. www.triangles.org Each Monday at 3:00 pm (New York), 8:00 pm (London), and 9:00 pm (Geneva) Triangles offers a webinar in cooperation with the global Triangles Meditation Group. The webinar aims to provide a platform for Triangles members and those who are new to Triangles to come together with others from around the world to give subjective support to the strengthening and expansion of the Triangles network. The webinar includes a short introductory talk about Triangles, a Triangles meditative visualization and a group sharing of ideas and impressions. A talk and meditation o n the Practice of Harmlessness
This talk revolves around the second and third factors of the Noble Eightfold Path, namely the Intentions of Renunciation, Goodwill and Harmlessness – as well as the practising of Right Speech. Always pragmatic and practical, the Dhamma taught by the Buddha 2500 years ago, correlates perfectly with contemporary concepts of psychology: deluded and and ego-intoxicated, humans project their own fears and weaknesses onto others, rather than face these within themselves. This creates endless conflict and suffering. Loving kindness, gentleness, humility and frugality are the Buddha’s antidote… Teachings are available for downloading from the BSWA website, the BSWA Youtube Channel, the BSWA Podcast, and Deeper Dhamma Podcast. Whatever an enemy may due to an enemy, Or haters, one to another, Far worse is the harm From one's wrongly directed mind.” - Buddha, The Dhammapada, verse 42 Buddha must have known there would be haters one day, and “haters gonna hate hate hate.” It is hard when people criticize us or don’t like us. I remember my mother saying to me when I was little, “If you want someone to like you, like them first.” That is sage advice. Do you want someone to like you? Then like them first. This is the essence of this verse: first, we remove harm from our own heart. This is one of the most pivotal points in Buddhism--harmlessness. People talk about this concept with different words, non-harm, harmlessness or non-violence. In the 4th Century, Asanga said this, “What is harmlessness? It is compassion which forms part of the absence of hatred. Its function is non-harming.” Asanga explained compassion as the foundation of removing harm from our mind. Also, the function of non-harm is to prevent us from harming others. How do we get this mind to arise? First, we have to start being aware of when we’re harming other people. Sometimes we have to discover the subtle ways that we harm others. If the foundation of non-harm is compassion, it is two-fold. The foundation of removing harm from our heart is compassion for others as well as compassion for our self. To examine harmfulness in Buddhism, we also think about the law of karma. The law of karma says that everything that we do to others, we are doing to ourselves-- because it is literally going to come back to us. If we cause someone to feel a certain way, we will experience that same feeling in the future. The meditation is in three parts. First, we exchange self with others by imagining going into their mind and developing compassion for them. Second, you go back into your own body and ask yourself, “do I want to experience this harm that I cause them in my future?” Finally, you come up with a plan to change. Compassion, I believe, arises naturally from deep understanding. If you understand what they're going through compassion will rise naturally. However, if you're going to restrain yourself from doing something harmful this week, you need to make a plan that you're going to change your behavior when you see them next time. You plan to restrain yourself and you plan to try to generate compassion. Please join in the discussion on Instagram or Facebook at fb.me/Buddhismforeveryone References: The Dhammapada, by Buddha. Harmlessness… sounds pretty simple, in its most basic form it can be. But this is no easy feat along the Path. Some of us interpret Harmlessness as not physically hurting anyone, others as choosing to not eat animals or to not speak cruel words. While all of this can be part of, it is by no means all there is to embody if we are to commit to Harmlessness as a way of life and discover it can indeed be the Destroyer of our Limitation and the key to our Liberation.
Small things are big things! On this show we will discuss ways, big and small, to incorporate harmlessness into your life. We'll offer daily practices for noticing harm and shifting attitudes and actions toward altruism. Join us!
Being harmless is much more than being kind and it goes beyond having a friendly disposition. Our thoughts form reality. Being harmless is an all-inclusive way of being, living, and breathing which creates an inner and outer environment ofsupport, respect, dignity, and compassion. We'll explore the body, mind, and spirit aspects of harmlessness this week.
It is a fact that our modern culture offers more images and examples of harm than harmlessness. We may not be conscious of the myriad of ways that harmfulness pervades our every day life and thus reinforces separativeness, competition, and dualistic behavior. As we identify harmfulness, we can work towards its undoing.
What is harmlessness? Why do people choose actions that would harm another? Are there actions which may cause harm unintentionally or unconsciously? We will spend the month of July exploring the concept of harm and looking into ways of developing the ethic of harmlessness in our every day lives.

Episode 7, 7 December 2014, The Spark That Fires Us Into Action. Intro: Welcome to Buddhism Guide’s Audio blog. A contemporary look at Gautama Buddha’s Teachings, from Karma Yeshe Rabgye. [00:17] 1. Right Intention. [00:24] Right Intention is divided into three parts: Letting Go, Good Will and Harmlessness. 2. Letting Go. [00:47] What we are letting go of, is attachment to, or craving for, objects of desire. How much we let go is a personal thing, but the more we loosen our grip on objects of desire the less we suffer. Because Gautama Buddha stated that clinging to desire is one of the causes of our suffering. Until we are able to let go of this craving, we will never reach a place where there is no more suffering. So contemplating impermanence is one of the best ways of letting go of our clinging to objects of desire. It takes time to change our perceptions and it isn't going to be easy, but if we don't start we will never finish. A wise person is able to let go. To let go is actually to receive; to receive boundless happiness. 2. Good Will. [03:12] This is the opposite of ill will and is a mental state. When we have good will towards others, we wish them well, and do not want any harm to befall them. One of the best methods of building good will is to do the Meta Bhavana Meditation. 3. Harmlessness. [05:22] This is the intention to not harm anyone, either physically, mentally or verbally. We have to realise that we are not the only ones suffering; everyone wishes to be free of suffering but is still gripped by pain, despair, anguish, dissatisfaction, and other kinds of suffering. We must understand that we play our parts in other people's suffering, by not having compassion for them, not caring for their well-being, and not seeing that, like us, they want to be free of all kinds of suffering. Outro. [08:04] You can find more information about this subject in Karma Yeshe Rabgye’s books at http://www.buddhismguide.org/books/ The best way to catch a snake – A Practical Guide to the Buddha’s Teachings; Life’s meandering path – A Secular Approach to Gautama Buddha’s Guide to Living; Ripples in the stream – A Pragmatic Journey Through Gautama Buddha’s Teachings. This message looks at the basics of the faith: beginning with salvation!
Spiritual growth is not achieved by simply giving 30 minutes a day to meditation. It involves an hour-by-hour attempt, all day long and every day, to keep the consciousness at as high a level as possible. It presumes a determination to consider oneself at all times as the soul, and increasingly, as part of a group, with no interests or desires, aims or wishes apart from the good of that group. It necessitates a constant watchfulness every hour of the day to prevent falling back into the lower vibration.
"The practice of harmlessness is the best and easiest way for the aspirant to work. There is then nothing in him which is inimical to any life in any form, and he therefore attracts to himself only that which is beneficent. He uses the beneficent forces thus attracted for the helping of other beings. This has to be the first step, and the discipline it entails and the constant supervision of all the activities on the three planes of human evolution and of all reactions bring the emotional body under the dominance of the illumined mind. They also bring about the understanding of one's fellow men." TREATISE ON WHITE MAGIC by Alice Bailey
If harmlessness is the keynote of your life, you will do more to produce right harmonious conditions in your personality than any amount of discipline along other lines." A TREATISE ON WHITE MAGIC by Alice Bailey.
