Join Joe McDonald as he shares a heartfelt story about an unexpected encounter at a rest stop. While initially laughing at the sight of a beat-up trailer with a “Just Married” sign, Joe's experience took a turn. He realized that the people inside were struggling, and despite his initial reaction, he felt compelled to give them everything in his wallet. This moment of spontaneous giving reminds us that Step 12 is about practicing these principles in all our affairs, including showing compassion and generosity where we least expect it.In Alcoholics Anonymous, Step 12 is about carrying the message to others and living by spiritual principles. Joe's story highlights the importance of giving freely and selflessly, even when the circumstances seem unusual or humorous at first. To support and learn from journeys like Joe McDonald, please like, comment, and share. As more mothers enter the world of entrepreneurship, studies show that balancing passion and family can be overwhelming - even paralyzing. The pressure to turn a passion into a profitable business while keeping up with the demands of parenting can leave many feeling unsure of where to start or whether they have what it takes. With social media filled with perfect images of other moms seemingly "doing it all," it's easy to feel like you're falling short if your journey isn't picture-perfect. But here's the truth: Success doesn't require perfection, and you don't need to have it all figured out before you begin. What if instead of waiting for the "right time" or having the perfect setup, you took the chance by “failing forward”? Could being messy and imperfect actually be the secret to making your passion profitable? In this episode, I talk to cookbook and Substack author, Caroline Chambers, who built a successful business while balancing motherhood. She shares why action is the key to clarity and how to start small, monetize trust, and grow your passion without waiting for the perfect moment. Things You'll Learn In This Episode Why You Should Be Open to Change If you're feeling stuck, it might be because the path you're on isn't where your true passion lies, and trying something new could open doors you never knew existed. Are you holding yourself back by staying in your current routine? “Failing Forward” is Okay Success comes from learning, not perfection. What could you achieve if you let go of needing everything to be perfect and just started? Turn Trust into a Business Building real trust with your community encourages support and can create opportunities for making money. Have you thought about how you could turn the trust people have in you into something valuable? Guest Bio Caroline Chambers grew up in the kitchen on her mom's hip, learning how to cook in their Winston-Salem, North Carolina, home. Her professional food career began in her early twenties when she worked as a chef and caterer. After a stint in a professional test kitchen, Caro struck out on her own as a freelancer, developing recipes for a host of publications as well as brands such as Boursin Cheese and Kim Crawford Wine, and in 2018, she published her first cookbook, Just Married. In 2020—at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—Caro began sharing her recipes and connecting with home cooks on Instagram (@carochambers ), and launched her newsletter, What to Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking, which flew to the top of the Substack charts; her podcast, So Into That, followed in 2023. Caro's latest cookbook, What To Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking, is available for pre-order and will be out on August 13, 2024. Caro lives in Carmel Valley, California, with her husband, George, and their three young sons, Mattis, Calum, and Cashel—one of whom can almost always be found in the kitchen on her hip. Three adventures of rediscovering my hot Milf empty-nesterBy Fugman. Listen to the Podcast at Steamy Stories. The Side of the RoadBlame it on the classic car and the mix tape.By Fugman.Sometimes you just need a drive through the countryside to calm your nerves. Things have become hectic at work lately, and I told Cherish that we should go for a long drive this Labor Day weekend, just to get away from everything for a day. Cherish agreed with me and we made plans to be gone for the weekend. Our daughter went off to college last weekend and we were finally back to just the two of us. All those memories of our early married years, before a baby surprised us; they were days of enjoying our nude sanctuary. We pledged we would return to that life. But life gets complicated and pressures mount, even when we aren't parenting. The upside was that a pregnant bride at nineteen, can still be a hot-looking empty-nester at age 37. And Cher is one hot milf.We agreed we would go to the bed and breakfast a couple of towns over, the route we took brought us through the very sparsely populated countryside, exactly what I needed.I could not wait until our trip, it seemed like the rest of the week dragged on and on; working late. Once Friday afternoon hit, I was anxious to get home, pack the car and grab Cherish for our weekend away. When quitting time came around, I was already in the car and on the way to load the classic car and go.When I reached the driveway, Cherish was waiting on the porch wearing a little tank top, white shorts and a light denim jacket. She was holding a small overnight bag.She smiled when she saw me arrive, “Ready to go?” she asked. I shook my head yes, went inside and grabbed my bag, and loaded the old 1969 Charger I kept just for weekends like this. I opened the car door and she jumped inside. I think she was as excited as i was to get out of the area for a couple of days. We went on our merry way. It was a beautiful early September evening.“I made a playlist for our ride,” she smiled and started the first song. “I Wanna Sex You Up” by Color Me Badd; came through the aftermarket stereo sound system.I wanna sex you up(A tick tock, ya don't stop-stop, to the)All night, girl, you make me feel goodI want to (let me rub you down)I wanna sex you upI glanced at her and smiled. “Let's Get It On,” by Marvin Gaye, came on. We slowly worked our way out of the neighborhood, then out to the highway.I've been really tryin', babyTryin' to hold back this feeling for so longAnd if you feel like I feel, babyThen, c'mon, oh, c'mon, whoaLet's get it onAh, baby, let's get it on. We stopped just outside of town, at my favorite country Barbeque restaurant for a meal. Not in any hurry, we had a couple beers after the meal, then came out to the car as a gorgeous sunset was in its early stages. Then “I Want Your Sex” by George Michael.I've waited so long babyOut in the coldBut I can't take much more girlI'm losing controlI want your sexI want your loveI want your sexI want your, sex, sexCher bounced to the beat and held an imaginary microphone to her mouth as she pointed her sultry finger at me, while mouthing the repetitive lyrics. It's naturalIt's chemical (let's do it)It's logicalHabitual (can we do it?)It's sensualBut most of allSex is something that we should doSex is something for me and youSex is natural, sex is goodNot everybody does itBut everybody shouldSex is natural, sex is funSex is best when it's, one on oneOne on one I was starting to see a pattern, “Lay Your Hands on Me” by Bon Jovi started to play and I pulled over into the entry to a field, next to the pavement. Now, now, now babyDon't you know I only aim to please? If you want me to lay my hands on youWhat you gotta do is(Lay your hands on me), lay 'em on me(Lay your hands on me), come on, come on, come on(Lay your hands on me), everybody's gonna help me nowI opened her door and brought her to the front of the car and pushed her back and kissed her deep. The next track started to play, “I'm on Fire” from Bruce Springsteen. At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wetAnd a freight train running through the middle of my headOnly you can cool my desireOh, oh, oh, I'm on fireOh, oh, oh, I'm on fireI broke from our kiss and smiled at her, then I asked; “How long were you planning to let me drive before you wouldn't wait anymore?”“Not much further, you got the hint pretty quick!” she said with a sultry grin. Her heel found a solid ledge of the front bumper, and she hiked herself up onto the corner of the warm hood, I stroked her legs as she reached for my belt. I looked around at our surroundings, and other than an old barn located about 300 feet from where I pulled over, the sun set on the tall grass around us. We were completely alone, no one would know or care what we were about to do.Kim leaned back a little and unhooked my pants and licked her lips, “That's What I Like,” by Bruno Mars came on and we both giggled.Jump in the Cadillac(Girl, let's put some miles on it)Anything you want(Just to put a smile on you)You deserve it baby, you deserve it allAnd I'm gonna give it to youCool jewelry shining so brightStrawberry champagne on iceLucky for you, that's what I like, that's what I likeLucky for you, that's what I like, that's what I likeSex by the fire at nightSilk sheets and diamonds all whiteLucky for you, that's what I like, that's what I likeLucky for you, that's what I like, that's what I likeIt was perfectly timed. Her hand moved over the front of my pants and she moved it slowly up and down.I went to work on getting her white shorts off, she lifted her ass so that I could remove them without hesitation. She laid down on the hood as I dropped my mouth to her opening.“I just want you inside of me now, we can do all of that tonight at the room!” she said insistently, “Just do me now!”I pulled her down off of the hood, “Turn around, hands on the car ma'am!” I commanded as if I was pulling her over. She obeyed and got into character, “Okay officer, I'll do whatever you want, just don't give me a ticket!”I pushed my pants and underwear down, my turgid cock escaped and lurched outward, as if it caught the scent of a wet cunt, nearby.“Spread em, I need to check you for weapons” I said as she followed every instruction I gave her.My hands slid up her bare legs and grazed over her privates.“Do Me Baby!” she begged as “Just What I Needed” by the Cars came over the speakers. I don't mind you comin' hereAnd wastin' all my timeI guess you're just what I needed (just what I needed)I needed someone to feedI guess you're just what I needed (just what I needed)I needed someone to bleedI stood straight up and pushed her further onto the car. I held my erection and moved forward to slide into her. “I need to do a cavity search, miss. Your compliance will make this more pleasant for both of us.”“Oh Yeah, that is what I need!” she said as I slid into her moist opening. I slid in and out of her slow and shallow at first, but with each thrust, I went further inside of her. Her hands firmly planted on the hood, accepting my thrusts while pushing into me to gain more depth. She started to breathe heavier as I started to pick up speed.I held her hips firmly as I took control and plowed back and forth into her hungry body. She moaned every time i buried my hardness deep within her. Her hands gripped the edge of the hood as I forcibly took her and did not stop. I was pumping in and out of her as she was begging me to make her come.“Oh please baby, I need to come, make me come,” she said softly.I took it upon myself to push her over the edge as quickly as I could. I slipped a hand around and touched her clitoris.“Oh yes, just like that!” she was begging me to finish her off again.I pinched her clit and she pleaded for me to shoot inside of her. “Please baby, I need you to fill me with it!”She was talking dirty and I was loving it, my erection was rock hard and plowing deep inside of her as I felt the tickle way back inside.I said to her softly as I am plunging in her “I hope you are ready baby, because here I...”She screamed out her orgasm, “Come!”I pushed into her for all I was worth and grabbed her hips tight as I exploded deep inside of her. I held myself inside deep as every last drop of semen flew inside of her wanting hole.“Oh Baby, I needed that!” She said. Once I started to get feeling back in my legs, I started to slide back, removing my softening member. “No, not yet, I'm still enjoying you being inside of me.” I couldn't argue and I remained inside of her until she released my softened manhood with a slurp sound.“Pour Some Sugar On Me” by Def Leppard came on and she laughed. I'm sure that won't be a problem.“You Make Loving Fun” by Fleetwood Mac came on as I pulled out onto the road and we headed out of town.It would be different and you know it willYou, you make loving funAnd I don't have to tell you but you're the only oneYou, you make loving funIt's all I want to doYou, you make loving funIt's all I want to do We spoke about the experience and re-lived it all weekend long.By Fugman for Fugman's Sexy Stories. The Surprise!Road Trip surprises, and then even more surprises.By Fugman. My wife Cherish and I found ourselves driving across the state on a beautiful autumn day, for a friend's wedding. On the way there we stopped at a big truck stop for gas and a bite to eat. Cher was seated at a table in the sandwich shop when I finished fueling. I opened my phone's lodging app as we ate. A few minutes later, Cherish went to the travel plaza's restroom as I booked the room just 20 minutes down the road. I asked for a nice room and some champagne to be waiting in the room. I had already picked up massage oil to surprise her. When she came out of the bathroom, I told her; “Our room is booked, it's just 20 minutes down the road. “We left the travel plaza and made the short trek down the highway, then pulled in and parked in a big modern hotel-motel complex. It seemed like one of the newer & nicer motels and the ambiance of the lobby was nice. It had 2 stories, with both interior halls, leading to a massive indoor solarium & pool. About 20 rooms lined the walls of the solarium. Another 20 penthouse suites were on the 2nd floor balcony. About 40 exterior-facing rooms were accessible from the parking lot which wrapped around the complex. I checked in at the desk and got our key cards. I'd gotten the last available room, which was on the backside of the building. I went over to the lobby sofa where Cher was relaxing. I told her, “Go ahead down the hall, past the solarium, then out the far door, and go to room 128, there is a surprise waiting for you!"She kissed me and said "don't take too long, sweetie.""I'm just gonna park the car around back & grab the bags. Don't start without me," I said, as I headed the other direction, out the lobby front entrance.I parked just beyond the room. The lot was full and the sun was setting. The car next to mine had white letters on the back window, announcing; “Kyle & Betty' and ‘Just Married' written in shoe polish. I slung my duffle strap over my shoulder as two obviously tipsy bridesmaids giggled while walking toward the solarium entrance. Grabbing my wife's 2 bags, I muttered to myself; "How can one person need all of this for only two days?" I finally got all of her things ready and I headed down to the end of the sidewalk, towards room 128. I used my key and was shocked to see Cherish naked on the bed kissing and fondling a mysterious curvaceous naked woman. This woman was incredibly sexy and both of them woman seem to be enjoying themselves."Um, honey; what's going on?" I asked sheepishly. I was shocked and excited at the same time. My wife has told me in the past that she never had a chance to experience the love of another woman, and she was always curious and excited by the thought. But come on, I only left her alone to grab the bags for 5 minutes."Hi, honey;" she said with a smile, "thank you for Leah, she is sexy as hell."

Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweetLittle miss innocent sugar me, yeah, yeahNow c'mon, take a bottle, shake it upBreak the bubble, break it upPour some sugar on meOoh, in the name of lovePour some sugar on meC'mon, fire me upPour your sugar on meI can't get enoughI'm hot, sticky sweetFrom my head to my feet, yeahWe started to get dressed and we noticed that we weren't alone anymore. I never heard the police car pull up behind me, and we were too into it to notice anything anyway. The officer told us “Sorry, I didn't want to interrupt, you two looked so happy, but can you take it somewhere else.“Sorry officer,” Cherish said as she pulled her clothes back on and jumped in the car.“Sorry about that, the moment struck sir!” I said “Thanks for not interrupting us, we were close to finishing anyway.”He said “I know, I heard!” smiled and walked away singing ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me!'I hooked my belt and opened the door, just as I was about to get in, the police car went by slowly as he told us to have a good night. Att överösas med kärlek och bekräftelse av sin nyfunna partner - låter inte det som en perfekt start på en relation? Inte nödvändigtvis. Modeordet "lovebombing" handlar om att med överdriven dedikation och smicker försöka manipulera sin partner. För vad händer med oss när kärleksfloden plötsligt upphör, eller bara flödar ibland? I recently asked you for your questions, feedback, and topics you want to hear more about and you gave me a ton of great ideas. One of the most common questions was a version of, “So what's your deal? What's your background, and what exactly do you do now?” Good question. How did I wind up as a recipe developer/cookbook author/whatever-I-decide-to-call-myself-that-day? You're about to find out.In this first solo episode, I share my “villain origin story” along with, of course, a few of the things I'm into right now.I talk about where I come from, how I met my husband George, my crazy idea to start a catering company in San Diego, working in a test kitchen, and how that evolved into what I do today.Next solo episode, I'll get into the nitty gritty of what my day-to-day looks like as a full-time creator, including how I make money, what I love about my job, what I don't love as much, and my goals for 2024 and beyond.I also get into:* Is a few days apart occasionally a good thing for married couples? (yes)* The small but *wonderful* change I think you should make to your kitchen (possibly my favorite part of the renovation…?!)* How I learned to write recipes that people can clearly read, understand, and cook from* The story behind my “Just Married” cookbook* How COVID lockdowns inspired What to Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking* My weather-related So Out On and my IRL LOL of the week* How to make an egg quesadilla with chili crisp* My cookbook… coming soon!Links:* Kate Hutchison, the interior designer who designed our home* Red Clay Chili Crisp (code CARO15 should work)* Book Lovers by Emily Henry* Food writer and cookbook author Melissa Clark* My fave former boss, Ben Pote, has a restaurant in Greenwich, CT called Wildacre Rotisserie. He's a frequent Food Network regular. An award-winning cookbook writer. A digital series host. A frequent talk show guest. One of People Magazine's "Sexiest Chefs Alive." And the first-ever two-time champion of the "Chopped" TV series. Figure out who this week's guest is? Of course, it had to be the man, the myth, the legend Chef James Briscione blessing us with his presence this week's episode of The Raw Ingredients. Chef Pete and Chef James will take you on a tonal trip through Chef James' life and career where you'll learn that you can't shortcut the seasons of your life where you're meant to grind it out - it's that grinding that gives us the finished, polished edges that make us better than we were. They'll also focus on earning respect through a method that sounds simple but is not the path for the lazy and undedicated - it's called work, hard work and showing your team that you aren't afraid to trudge down into the trenches and muck in with them. To know Shobhana is to know the essence of grace and gratefulness which suffuses her work. I have time and again, on reading her poems, kept the book down and held back my emotions. She gets to the heart of the matter with quick acuity, but an understanding, which is gentle, kind. She holds the reader close to her heart, as she leads him through her hurting poetry. Shobhana Kumar has two collections of poetry: The Voices Never Stop (2012) and *Conditions Apply (2014), from Writers Workshop, Kolkata. Her work has been anthologized in journals and books of poetry and Japanese short forms. Her poem, ‘Just Married' was selected and translated by Gulzar in his monumental work, A Poem a Day, published by HarperCollins. She has authored six books of non-fiction covering biographies, corporate, industrial, and educational histories. Her short stories have been published or are forthcoming in a few anthologies. Kumar is Poetry Editor of Sonic Boom Journal and its imprint, Yavanika Press. She is also part of The Quarantine Train, a poetry workshop founded by Arjun Rajendran. She works in the spaces of corporate communication, branding and advertising, and education. Along with a group of friends, she runs Small Differences, an NGO working with elderly, abandoned people and the transgender community. Her latest book “A Sky Full of Bucket Lists” is published by the finest independent publisher of poetry Red River. It was chosen by the redoubtable Arundhathi Subramanian as one of the finest books of 2021. It can be purchased on Amazon or Papyrus She spoke to me at length about her poetry, her growing up in Lovedale, the work she does in her NGO and why Mary Oliver is such an inspiration. This is a peerless episode from Red Rivers Sessions presented to you by Uncut Poetry. In Red River Sessions, we talk to published poets, about their poetry, their craft and what haunts them. It is brought to you by Red River, which is the premier independent publisher of poetry books and Uncut Poetry, a much-loved poetry podcast. The truth is, in the end, Kelly chose the man she loved. It's that simple. Cans bounced around, smacking the pavement behind my bright red pickup truck. Kelly and I drove into Gatlinburg with "JUST MARRIED" painted on the back windshield and along the sides of my brand new 91' Sonoma. Shiny gold rings on each of our hands completed the perfect honeymoon portrait. We were barely in our twenties, and everything was falling into its place. The both of us were together at last. Cars buzzed by and honked while fellow vacationers yelled, "Congratulations." We both waved back and thanked everyone as we made our way up the mountain road. If I had to guess, romance was probably born in places high up like the Smokies or on sandy beaches. We'd saved up enough money for a five-star hotel the first day, but the final two would be spent in a simple cabin at the KOA Campground in Cherokee, North Carolina...

Two of our favourites! Californian punks Joyce Manor and their 2014, 19-minute long album 'Never Hungover Again' is up against defunct emo outfit Glocca Morra and their record 'Just Married'. If you haven't listened before, do yourself a favour.
This week, Kristin tells Mogab all about Brittany Murphy and the mysteries surrounding her death. Brittany Murphy was a talented actress who starred in movies like Clueless, Girl Interrupted, Just Married, and 8 Mile. When she was 32, Brittany died suddenly of supposed "natural causes". People were confused - how could a healthy 32 year old woman die suddenly of natural causes? And then her husband, Simon Monjack, started doing interviews, and boy were they CREEPY. It made people wonder - could there be someone to blame for Brittany's death? Kristin and Mogab also debate such philosophical questions as who is better: Eminem or TI? Is it offensive to compare Brittany Murphy to Lucille Ball? Is it a crime to have seen not a single one of her movies? Welcome to this fifth episode of Dior Talks. This podcast series will explore the connections between Creative Director of Women’s collections Maria Grazia Chiuri and contemporary women artists and curators. In this episode, series host Katy Hessel, a London-based curator, writer and art-historian, talks to Tomaso Binga about her long and influential career as a feminist conceptual artist, in the wonderful setting of the seminal Galleria Il Mascherino in Rome. Tomaso Binga was born Bianca Pucciarelli in Salerno, southern Italy, in 1931. At the age of 18 she left her hometown and moved to Rome and she started making art in the 1960s. She was first asked to exhibit her work in a gallery setting in 1971 and was initially wary of exposure, preferring to leave art world recognition to her critic husband. However, she overcame her reticence and proceeded to create and exhibit a series of highly controversial and provocative works. The alter ego came about in the early 70s, when she decided to take a man’s name as a statement about the deeply ingrained sexism of the art world and indeed the world at large. The name was an homage to Marinetti, the surrealist poet whose work has been a lifelong inspiration for Binga. ‘Tomaso Binga’ was created as a challenge to men and their hegemonic status. Binga is best known for her seminal Alphabet works of the 1970s, in which she used her own naked body to form the letters of the alphabet – which was used as part of the scenography of the Dior Autumn-Winter 2019 show – and her 1977 performance, Just Married, when Bianca Menna married her male pseudonym Tomaso Binga. She has been a major influence on generations of women artists. She was a Professor at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Frosinone and is a vice president of the Filiberto Menna Foundation in Salerno. She has had exhibitions and participated in festivals and performances throughout Italy and internationally, including the 38th Venice Biennale, the 14th São Paulo Biennial, and the Biennale de Lyon. No Sell Entertainment's weekly movie review podcast takes on the movie "Just Married" (2003) starring Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy.
You take the fun, you take the drunk, you take them both and there you have the Wrecks of Life, the Wrecks of Life. We don't own that melody or that song, don't sue us, we're broke. The wedding is over and one couple emerged victorious while the other ended in a quiet disaster. To go broke or to bro go? What happened to Christmas time and where did we all go wrong?
Five years ago, photographer Eric Pickersgill and his wife, Angie, were lying in bed, backs turned to one another, looking at their phones. When Pickersgill dozed off, his phone slid from his hand and hit the floor. The sound jolted him awake. As he told the BBC, he saw the scene from the perspective of the ceiling fan in his mind's eye. There he was, hand frozen in the same position, only minus the phone. He and his wife were “so close physically but psychologically and emotionally so separated from one another.” This inspired a project that depicts how technology dominates our lives, often to the detriment of our most important relationships. The remarkable series of photographs is called “Removed.” The pictures run between startling and comical. In one, a newly married couple sits on the hood of a car marked, “Just Married” staring at non-existing phones instead of each other. In another, a crowd at auction sit gazing into their empty hands as if they were at a palm-readers convention. The photos are all posed, but this project ought not be dismissed as a mere stunt. As Pickersgill told the BBC, he didn't know the people in the pictures beforehand. He saw people looking at their phones, explained his project, and asked them if they would be willing to pose. Perhaps the reason they agreed is that they saw themselves in the point he was trying to make. Of course, if any of us were photographed throughout our day, chances are we'd be caught in similar poses. Who among us is not, at some level, hitched to our glowing rectangles? As the display's curator put it, “Removed” lifts “the veil of contemporary technology's hold on our devotion.” It also reveals how much this “devotion” isolates us from other people. In her 2011 book, “Alone Together,” MIT psychologist Sherry Turkle wrote about how the technology we think gives us more control actually controls us. Our phones are, as Pickersgill graphically illustrated, the last things we look at every night and the first things we check every morning. In “Alone Together,” Turkle describes teenagers who are actually afraid of phone calls because they require a level of “intimacy” and spontaneity they cannot control. Texts and social media are conducted by us, on our own terms, and can be stage-managed and honed to ensure that others see only what we want them to see. In the eight years since Turkle's book was published, our “together aloneness” has only become more entrenched, and the psychological impact Turkle described more pronounced and more tragic. According to a recent study by the American Psychological Association, “rates of mood disorders and suicide-related outcomes [among adolescents and young adults] have increased significantly over the last decade.” And, the researchers directly state that “The increase in adolescent major depressive episodes began after 2011, concurrent with the increased ownership of smartphones and a concomitant increase in digital media time in this age group . . .” Our devotion to our glowing rectangles isn't giving us the control we thought it would. On the contrary, it has been a key ingredient in the spread what former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy called an “epidemic of loneliness,” which is, according to Murthy, as bad for our health as smoking. Perhaps that's why people were so willing to pose for Pickersgill. Like smokers who know they should quit for their own good, maybe we understand we really would be better off without a phone in ours hands all the time. Maybe we should give it a try, even if no one is taking our picture.

James Briscione’s stellar cooking career began humbly: As a teenager, he washed dishes at a now defunct restaurant (named Jubilee) on Pensacola Beach. He quickly rose through the ranks, at age 24 becoming the chef de cuisine at the Highlands Bar and Grill in Birmingham, Alabama, which is considered one of the best restaurants in the South, and later the sous chef at the prestigious New York City restaurant Daniel. Today Briscione, who lives in New York City, is a top-tier chef, author of three books on cooking, director of culinary development at the Institute of Culinary Education, and a three-time champion on the Food Network’s cooking competition series Chopped. So what is he doing on STEM-Talk, you might ask? Briscione is also versed in the science of cooking and flavor. He partnered with IBM in creating the “Chef Watson” project. This computer-based program generates hundreds of novel flavor combinations based on the compatibility of chemical compounds in food. In this episode, Briscione talks with IHMC Director Ken Ford and IHMC Chef Blake Rushing about the art and science of food, and Briscione’s career as a chef. Briscione’s three books include: “Just Married and Cooking” (with his wife Brooke Parkhurst): http://amzn.to/2eDIpJD; “Cognitive Cooking with Chef Watson”(http://amzn.to/2g04Kq0); and “The Great Cook: Essential Techniques and Inspired Flavors to Make Every Dish Better.” (http://amzn.to/2elhlDr). He also has his own, new television show on the Food Network called “Cooking with Dad.” Briscione, his ideas on cooking and his own culinary creations have been featured in the New York Times, NPR, the New Yorker, Time Magazine and hundreds of other media outlets throughout the world. Briscione’s recent talk at IHMC, entitled “Who teaches the cooks to cook?” can be viewed at http://www.ihmc.us/lectures/20160811/ Dive into this delicious interview—an entertaining and informative conversation between three foodies. 00:32: Ken introduces Blake Rushing as the guest co-host of this episode of STEM-Talk. Rushing is IHMC’s chef, as well as the owner of Union Public House in Pensacola. 1:00: Ken introduces James Briscione as, “Working in the boundary spaces between the science of food, science and taste and even AI systems, such as Chef Watson.” 1:49: Dawn reads 5-Star iTunes review from “Beautronical:” “I am continually enthralled by the variety and depth of ideas presented here. Also, it is rare that one finds great minds matched by great voices. Given the ketogenic bent of certain interviewers, perhaps mellifluous is the wrong term, but I’ll use it nonetheless.” 4:42: Ken introduces himself and Blake Rushing as hosts of the interview; and then welcomes James to the interview. 5:05: James says he remembers the food made by his Italian grandmother. Among them: chicken cacciatore (although the mushy carrots bugged him.) The “greatest mashed potatoes… Sunday red sauce; sausage and meatballs loaded down with pecorino cheese.” 6:55: “True learning doesn’t often happen until you’re in the kitchen every day,” Briscione tells his students. He didn’t go to culinary school, but has been in the kitchen since he was 16. 8:15: At 16, he was a bus boy washing dishes for two restaurants: fine dining upstairs and casual beach dining downstairs. 9:33: As a teenager and at the beginning of college, Briscione thought, ‘There’s no way I am going to spend the rest of my life in a kitchen.’ He was working on a degree in sports medicine in Birmingham, and worked summers at the restaurant [in Pensacola]. After his second summer, something clicked: he changed his course of study from sports medicine to nutrition. 11:00: James knocked on the back door of Bottega Cafe [in Birmingham] http://www.bottegarestaurant.com/cafe/ and said, ‘I want to work here.’ He got a job as pizza maker with a wood-fired oven. He remembers stretching the dough and putting the toppings on it, then handing it off to the next guy.

This is like Amazon being the dominant seller of DVDs and Blu-Rays on line holding Warner Home Video over a barrel (as it is now) to negotiate prices. Wedding Bells, this film smells, Ashton laid an egg! Ring in the new Millenium for the Thirteenth time by watching JUST MARRIED starring Ashton Kutcher, Brittany Murphy, and the French Alps! Ashton is a radio traffic announcer and Brittany is just a rich girl who’s gone too far, (but you know it don’t matter anyway), by marrying Kutcher and taking him on the Honeymoon from Hell. These two may be young and blessed with perfect skin (Ashton looks like a Gelfling from Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal), but the gods of matrimony have cursed them eternal postnuptial kerfuffles. Ashton accidentally kills Murphy’s prized puppy and lies about it while Brittany accidentally sleeps with her ex-boyfriend. Luckily, he’s stalking them as they traverse the French Alps into Venice. But don’t worry, this movie made a lot of money. It made so much money.
