IntroductionWelcome to Full Cow, a podcast about leather and kink where your host, Edge (he/him), shares his 30+ years of experience in the community. For this episode we're going to think about bondage. In the first segment, Edge shares his experience with bondage both as a bottom and as a Top. Then, in the second segment, we'll look at some basic bondage info, including safety, ropes types, and knots. Then we have a chat with Master Dart, who offer his experience with bondage and general insight into kink. As a special bonus, the episode ends with Edge reading his erotic story, "Hemp."Related LinksI learned shibari by reading The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage by Midori. If you're a book / written word person, you might want to check it out.Common ropes are hemp and MFP (multifilament polypropylene) and the knots to learn are the square knot and the lark's head knot.Twisted Monk makes beautiful hemp rope and has amazing how-to videos.Learn more about Master Dart on his website or follow him on Twitter.Check out one of Master Dart's recommendations, Two Knotty Boys.If you're interested in my stories, you can purchase The Stories of Edge in Kindle format.Support the show

This week on The Swingset, we return to the scorching 107 degree heat of Austin, Texas, where Ginger and Cooper attended and presented at Camp Ravish. On the last day of Camp, they sat down with several other presenters there, including The Two Knotty Boys, Melissa Jones, Bella LaVey, Rihannon Ixchel, and Miss O Kissed, to talk about the state of affairs for those of us plying a sex positive trade, while skirting around the issue of that big orange thing crashing toward us all. (A quick note, again we were outside in the heat, so we had both fans and a fountain to contend with, but fuck it, we did it live!) Hope you enjoy! After tonight's episode, you'll also be able to hear some audio erotica, a short story called Go For Launch - Double Penetration For Science, read by Angela Elmore of the By the Bi Podcast
About this episode... In our final nugget for the April monthly topic of Sex workers, Miss Laura chats with Michael - a member of the kink community, a Shibari rigger, and someone who has worked on photo shoots in and around the sex work industry for many years. He also identifies as a wolf in our barnyard - believing these animals to amazing, social, and are protective and loyal in their packs. He has always respected wolves - knowing they do what is best for their family. Side note: Shibari is intricate rope bondage using some traditional Japanese techniques and of course a few modern twists. Michael considers himself to be a part of the sex worker community through his rigging for photo shoots, creating promotional pieces for cam girls and others who are working, as well as someone who has dated and is involved with several people who work in that industry. He shares a few of his experiences with partners in the sex work industry. A commonly heard sentiment in many of our episodes across a range of topics, he cites that communication is a key in any relationship to making things work, especially when you are involved with someone working in the sex trade. He suggests that you need to be able to communicate clearly with them, especially since part of their job is to be intimate with others - to make sure you understand where you stand in their life and they are able to clearly communicate where you stand and what they need from you to support them. This is critical in dealing with any jealousy issues that can come up. A little about Michael... I've been a part of the BDSM community of the San Francisco Bay Area for a very long time. If you want background on my various kinks and fetishes, I can tell you that all of the stories will start with "So there was this girl..." I have been a shibari rigger, working with rope and using it to bring accentuate the beauty of the human form for somewhere around ten years, and have trained with Two Knotty Boys and with Midori. I've taught shibari classes. I've tied for photo shoots and had my rope work find it's way into a magazine or two (including a horror magazine) and onto the front page of the now unfortunately defunct zivity.com. Around seven years ago, "there was this girl" who had something of a fetish for hypnosis, and the erotic applications of it, so being quite smitten with her, as well as intrigued with hypnosis and fascinated with the human mind, I went off and got certified as a hypnotist. Well, the relationship didn't last, but hypnosis (especially its erotic and BDSM applications, but also the things that I could use it for to help those I cared about) kept my attention, became something of a passion of mine. I've gone so far as to seek certification as a clinical hypnotherapist. I help with a quarterly Goth/Industrial dance club and BDSM dungeon down in Santa Cruz California called "House of Nox". While my housemates are either spinning a set at the turntables, doing a tarot card reading, or perhaps playing with someone on the spanking bench or St. Andrew's Cross, I can be found with my portable suspension frame, 700+ feet of rope, and various toys, tying people up or working them over with a violet wand. I really enjoy...

You can call in at 865-268-4005 to leave your question or visit the Krypt at kudrinskrypt.comRules to Love by:1. Safe, sane, consensual, and informed2. KNKI: Knowledge, No Intolerence, Kindness, Integrity3. “Submission is not about authority and it’s not about obedience; it is all about relationships of love and respect.” -Wm. Paul YoungOn this episode of the Krypt we are going to talk about BDSM in Literature, and no we’re not discussing 50 Shades but first, I have to welcome my amazing co-host, Funsize.Literature both fiction and nonfiction is a staple of civilized society. The lifestyle is a society in and of itself and we have our literature. Our fictions delve into our deepest fantasies and our non-fictions help us learn and share with others. Funsize you are a huge connoisseur of the written word. What books do you find span the scope of our world the best? Non-fictions:The Topping and Bottoming SeriesThis is a series of books that has been around since the mid 90’s. Written by Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy, these books, explore the basics of each perspective in the lifestyle. Dossie Easton also wrote the Ethical Slut which explores polyamory. The Ultimate Guide to Kink by Tristan TaorminoA very well written basics guide to everything you need to know when you first enter the lifestyle. Of course there are a lot of interesting things to be found within these pages even if you aren’t new. BDSM: How to Take Your First Steps into BDSM Another great book for newbies by Scarlett Dalton. Life, Leather, and the Pursuit of Happiness by Steve LenuisThis particular book delves into the history of leather culture and the beginnings of modern BDSM as we know it. History is very important so this is really a must read. You should also check out the Leatherman’s Protocol Handbook by John D. Weal. Other nonfictions to check out when you have a moment are:Raven Kaldera’s books Power Circuits: Polyamory in a Power Dynamic, and Sacred Power, Holy Shrine. Two Knotty Boys and Two Knotty Boys Back on the Ropes, a couple of interesting, educational, and entertaining books on learning the art of rope bondage. Elizabeth Cramer, Kuldrin I know you love her writings just because she keeps things short and simple, which works well with your busy schedule. She has written something like six or seven books detailing how to be a dominant and how to be a submissive. We’re both huge fans for a reason. And finally, Igniting the Fire: the Art of Romantic Submission by Master Arcane. This amazing book illustrates the BDSM dynamic through the eyes of a truly caring dominant. I’ve personally read this book at least twenty times over. If you want to get an idea of what you’ll be reading definitely go back and listen to the amazing interview between Kuldrin and Master Arcane. https://kuldrinskrypt.com/s01e14 There are dozens of others we could recommend but in order to keep me from talking until I’m hoarse this is the list we’re going to have to settle for today. If you have any more suggestions feel free to join in the discussion on our Fetlife group, Kuldrin’s Krypt. FictionSo our starting point for this particular half of the list is a rather obvious choice; the granddaddy of Sadism, the Libertine, Marquis de Sade. Justine explores a whole world of human sexuality, torture, imprisonment, and the duality of the justice system. Even if it doesn’t quite explore true BDSM and power dynamics it is a wonderful read. 120 Days of Sodom is a novel of erotic orgies. While this sounds fun in a sense, this particular tale is all about sexual abuse, torture (not the fun kinds), and finally the slaughter of several characters involved. There are several other works by de Sade, many of them available for free in PDF format. It is however, important to remember while de Sade inspired the word sadism for his works on featuring pain in a sexual setting, much of what is actually portrayed is not respectful or caring. It is in fact abusive and often non-consensual acts in vivid detail so if you can not stomach these things, be sure to skip these classics. The Way of a Man With a Maid by anonymous is actually one of my favorites. This novel portrays a man who is fascinated by a young woman, which leads to acts of obsession, bondage, and questionable consensual content. It’s highly erotic but can again doesn’t accurately portray the consent necessary for anyone truly in the lifestyle. Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty series illustrates the traditional tale of sleeping beauty in a more erotic light. It truly does display certain fetishes and parts of the BDSM lifestyle. Maya Banks the Enforcers Series, Mastered, Dominated, and Kept, are three books which mix the erotism of BDSM with more romantic notes. Quite enjoyable. The Kushiel’s Legacy Series by Jacqueline Carey, which set off my exploration of the lifestyle. I read the very first novel in this series when I was only thirteen years old and when it’s subject matter was discovered it led to a talk which led me to my training years later. It’s still one of my favorite’s not only because of the highly masochistic main character, or the erotic scenes, but also because of the political intrigue. And finally the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series by Laurell K. Hamilton. The series as it moves along begins to depict more of the lifestyle and even features a submissive character, Nathaniel, to explore what it’s like for some of us out there. What’s more is that these novels, despite their fantasy/ sci-fi setting, still manage to (mostly) accurately display everything from fetish clubs, to power dynamics, to the roles of protectors. I’m clearly a huge fan. So these were the literary works we’ve chosen to delve into. As we said before there are tons more to be found. A final note or two.I’d like to thank our Executive Producer Jeremiah, Our Senior Producer Matt, Producer Missy Lynn and our Jr. Producers K-2SO, Irish Mt. Dragon and The Accidental Trucker. A long long time ago (OK not that long ago really in the scheme of things but when we are talking about the internet things have changed rapidly) if you wanted to learn about something then your choices were to go to school, read a book, find a community to educate you or learn on the job. Obviously there are lots of overlaps between these things and they didn't, and still don't, operate in isolation of one another but what if the subject you wanted to learn about or the community you wanted to find was not what one would call main stream? Clearly that made things much harder, it is not like you could take a BDSM 101 class at your local college however if you had a good library there is a chance you might have picked up a book or two on the matter but otherwise your only hope was to find likeminded folks and create a community. Classified ads were one such place where you might have had some luck but clearly that was not without its pitfalls too. Without a doubt the internet has changed all that. Now anyone with access to a computer (or electronic device) and an internet connection quite literally has more information and knowledge at their fingers tips than they could ever possibly have time to read and that goes for kink too. It is quite literally a whole new world where finding information is no longer restricted because the subject you are interested in is adult or niche in nature. In fact it was almost as if the internet was designed with exactly that in mind. I was in my mid 30's when I first started to be interested in kink and it was the internet that led me to my biggest discoveries about my sexuality. Online I found not only information but communities of people who were interested in the same things as me. Suddenly I not only had things to read and learn from but people to talk to about it as well. Without a doubt the internet changed my life in that regard, I went from someone who had always felt like something was missing to someone who not only had a clue what that was but eventually found it and took that knowledge and experience and shared it with others online. So we know that the internet is full of wonderful juicy information but we also know that there is an awful lot of it and to be quite frank not all information is created equal. There are numerous articles online that explain, in what at first glance almost sounds convincing, why the earth is flat but that does not mean they are the articles you should be taking to heart and basing your geographical knowledge on and the same can be said for kink and sex related content. So how do tell the good from the bad? Clearly this is the tricky bit when content is so plentiful the issue becomes not the amount or even finding it but identifying if it is any good or not. There is no one single way of doing this but something's to keep in mind when reading: Don't rely on one single source or person. If you read something you like or that strikes a chord with you search for more content on the same subject and see if the advice, opinions, thoughts being shared support or compliment the piece or directly contradict it. If it's not obvious try to find out whom the author is. Are they a name you recognise? Do they have experience in the subject? Are they considered an authority by others? Have they published in multiple places? Of course not every well written piece is written by someone like this. There are many brilliant articles about kink related subjects written by anonymous individuals so don't discount something just because the person is not a name. If the article speaks to you then have a look around to see if their opinion is shared or... Read the comments. Hopefully the piece will have the facility for commenting and have some comments left by people on it. Read them; Are they positive? Do the comments indicate that the piece is useful, enjoyable, liked etc? If applicable has the author replied to any comments and if so do those replies seem positive? Watch out for pieces that deal in absolutes. Kink is rarely about absolutes, for example there is no one right way to be a submissive or a dom and anything that tells you there is should be treated with scepticism. Talk to other people. One of the great things about the internet is that it has made it much easier to find communities of people who share interests and that is particularly true of the kink community. There are whole sites like Fetlife where you can make friends and social media platforms like Twitter that have thriving kink communities of people who share content that they have found. Trust your gut. This is probably the most important one of all but if you read something and it resonates with you then that is all that matters. ) Some places to start As I have already said content is plentiful and finding the good stuff can be tricky but here some suggestions of excellent places to get you started. Fetlife - This is a whole site dedicated to everything kink and fetish related. However finding stuff can be super tricky. My advice would be to start by searching for things in your local area and making some friends. Once you have done that it will be easier to find content that they recommend. Kink Academy - Without a doubt this site is the largest repository of education kink videos online. Both the breadth of subjects covered and the amount of fabulous educators featured here makes this an amazing resource. There is some free content but most of it membership based and prices vary depending on how long you want to sign up for. This is also a great place to discover kink educators many of whom have their own websites where you can find more stuff by them. Two Knotty Boys - For basic knot tying Two Knotty Boys is a great resource. Sadly their Youtube channel has been deleted and they seem to have pretty much given up making new content but you can still download some of their videos here Submissive Guide - This site was started back in 2009 and is quite frankly jammed packed full of content that deals with a huge variety of subjects around submission and D/s. The site is run by LunaKM but much of the content is written by a variety of different contributors making this a really diverse resource. Loving BDSM - This started life as a podcast but has since transformed into a complete community resource. The podcast still takes place but there are now videos, written content and a forum where you can chat with other kink folks. Lots of it is free but there are some extra special goodies for members, and fees are eminently reasonable.
