He led the Philadelphia 76ers' new $1.5 bn arena development as well as significant projects for the New Jersey Devils. This included rejuvenating the Loew's Theatre in Jersey City and fostering growth in the vicinity of Newark's Prudential Center. Jonathan is deeply committed to enhancing neighborhoods, aiming for positive social change through economic growth and job creation. At HBSE, he built and managed his team and related consultants to over 100 people. In addition to his role at HBSE, Fascitelli worked closely with HRS Management and BOLT Ventures, the family offices of Josh Harris and David Blitzer. On behalf of HRS Management he was an active board member at Mosaic Development Partners, a black-owned developer with a strong community focus. He played a lead role in the acquisition of the Washington Commanders. In New York, he oversaw the operations of Central Park's Wollman Rink, partnering with Related and Equinox. Sharpe James, who led Newark as mayor for 20 years and helped reshape the city's downtown, died Sunday in West Orange, New Jersey, according to The New York Times. He was 89. His son, former Councilman John Sharpe James, confirmed the death. Known for his dynamic presence and political tenacity, James oversaw major redevelopment projects, including the Prudential Center and extensive new housing. Yet his legacy was marred by a 2008 fraud conviction for selling public land at below-market prices, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence. Still, he was remembered for instilling pride and possibility in Newark's predominantly Black and Latino communities. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and sons Elliot, John, and Kevin. Strap in and try to keep up, as we attempt to follow the peripatetic 58-year journey of one of the NBA's most wandering franchises - with New York-area sports beat reporter Rick Laughland ("A History of the Nets: From Teaneck to Brooklyn"). Today's Brooklyn Nets club began its life in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans - a charter member of the American Basketball Association, playing at the Teaneck Armory.  A year later, they moved to Long Island (LI Arena, then Island Garden, then Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum) to become the New York Nets, winning two ABA championships (1974, 1976) behind superstar Julius Erving.  Absorbed into the NBA in 1976, the team struggled financially and was forced to sell Erving, leading to early-season struggles. In 1977, they relocated to the Garden State as the New Jersey Nets, playing at Rutgers Athletic Center (now Jersey Mike's Arena) before moving to Brendan Byrne (aka Meadowlands) Arena in 1981.   After almost becoming the "Swamp Dragons" in 1994, the early 2000s saw breakthrough success with Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin, and Richard Jefferson - making back-to-back NBA Finals runs in 2002 and 2003.  Before a brief move to Newark's Prudential Center (2010–12), the team relocated to Brooklyn's purpose-built Barclays Center, with a complete franchise name, logo and color-scheme rebrand.  Initially building around Deron Williams, they later pursued star power with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, followed by Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden in 2019–2021. The New York Sirens are a charter member of the 3-year-old Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). After two seasons in Connecticut, the Sirens play the majority of their home games at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Lauren Williams is an assistant coach for the Sirens. Prior to joining the staff of the Sirens, she coached at Stonehill College (2022–23) and Mount Royal University (2023–24). She previously played 3 years in the PWHPA (2019–22) after spending one year with the Worcester Blades of the CWHL (2018–19), having been drafted first overall. She is an alumna of the Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey program, where she made the Frozen Four all four seasons. In this episode, Williams explains the differences between women's hockey and men's and discusses the growth of the PWHL.
