Luke Thomas is back from vacation and ready to chop it up with his best friend Brian Campbell on a Morning Kombat Monday! Reinier de Ridder scored a split decision victory over Robert Whittaker in the UFC Abu Dhabi main event. With that win, does he rate as next for the winner of UFC 319's main event between champion Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev? Petr Yan looked incredible against Marcus McGhee at UFC Abu Dhabi. With three wins in a row, he has to be the consensus next man up after Merab Dvalishvili vs. Corey Sandhagen. That said, is there any reason to think a fight with either Dvalishvili or Sandhagen would look any different in a rematch? UFC 319 finally has a co-main event as featherweights Aaron Pico and Lerone Murphy square off, likely for title shot implications. This will also serve as Pico's UFC debut. Do you like this fight at all or as a Pico debut? LT, BC and the MK crew discuss these topics and much more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Longtime friend of the show Phoenix Carnevale reprises her esteemed guest co-host duties in Matt Serra's absence, joining Jim Norton for an episode that features two fighters from this Saturday's UFC Atlanta card: welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley and light heavyweight veteran Paul Craig. The show opens with Jim and Phoenix reacting to UFC 316 — including Sean O'Malley's response to his loss to Merab — before Joaquin calls in mid-track workout to discuss his mindset ahead of his main event clash against Kamaru Usman. Later, Paul Craig reflects on his rocky run at middleweight, what he learned about himself through after going through more demanding weight cuts, and how he's channeling those lessons ahead of his 20th UFC appearance and a return to light heavyweight in Saturday's featured prelim bout against Rodolfo Bellato. While Jim and Phoenix don't make any predictions of their own, the two set the table for UFC Atlanta by previewing some of this Saturday's dynamic matchups.

Jim Norton and guest co-host Din Thomas are joined by MMA legend Bas Rutten for a lively recap of UFC 316. Din gives props to Bas for his unique insight into both the streetfighting mindset and high-level martial arts, setting the stage for Bas to break down what stood out most on the card — including how Joshua Van reminds him of a young Max Holloway. Bas has so much fun he sticks around when UFC bantamweight champ Kayla Harrison calls in. She reflects on her Olympic roots, the emotions behind her recent victory, and whether a showdown with Amanda Nunes might be on the horizon.
UFC 316 is in the books, and despite the MMA community feeling somewhat indifferent about the fight card on paper, the most recent UFC pay-per-view event delivered big moments, and certainly a lot to discuss in the fallout — including dominant championship finishes for UFC champs Merab Dvalishvili and, the UFC's newest titleholder Kayla Harrison. On an all-new edition of Between the Links, the panel reacts to UFC 316, Dvalishvili's sensational performance against Sean O'Malley, and discuss if Dvalishvili is the bantamweight GOAT, and if not, what he needs to do to get there. Additionally, topics include Harrison's submission win over Julianna Pena to claim the women's bantamweight title, how massive the potential fight with Amanda Nunes is after their staredown on Saturday night, Patchy Mix losing a lopsided decision, his reaction to the loss, and where the performance ranks in letdowns for UFC debuts, UFC Atlanta, PFL Nashvillie, and more. Not sure how you're supposed to beat this guy Merab Dvalishvili at this point. Poison? Blow darts? The Dark Arts? Regular-ass fighting ain't working, as Sean O'Malley found out at UFC 316 on Saturday. Looked like O'Malley was trying to do the right things — stay off the cage, work the body, show improved takedown defense, get up when Merab put him on the mat. Didn't matter. Merab is just too good at what he does … and it seems like he's getting better at it. If he's gonna start throwing out nasty submissions now? Fuck it, shut it down. And then we gotta show Cory Sandhagen standing in the crowd looking like a middle school kid tryna act tough? Yeah, we're not loving that guy's chances. Plus, Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes? Merab Dvalishvili continued his dominate run in the Bantamweight division with his submission victory over Sean O'Malley at UFC 316 in a title rematch. Plus drama with Keyshawn Davis after he didn't make weight and was stripped of his title when his match against Edwin De Los Santos was canceled. To top it off, he was ejected from the arena where his brother Kelvin Davis had just fought against Nahir Albright, after allegedly assaulting Albright post-match. Can Keyshawn Davis ever recover from this dreadful weekend? And Dana White revealed that Jon Jones already accepted the fight against Tom Aspinall. Will the fight actually go down this calendar year? With UFC 316 just days away, Matt and Jim welcome two fighters making their second appearances on Unfiltered: rising flyweight Joshua Van and heavy-hitting welterweight Khaos Williams. Kicking things off, Matt finally gets to meet 23-year-old prospect Joshua Van after missing his debut episode — and wastes no time bonding over Bruce Lee movies before breaking down Van's upcoming clash with veteran Bruno Silva. Focused and self-aware, Joshua explains why he's preparing for the best version of Silva — knowing how dangerous a fighter can be coming off a loss. In the middle of the show, the guys dive into the UFC 316 card — sharing thoughts on the title fights between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O'Malley, and Julianna Peña vs. Kayla Harrison — plus Kelvin Gastelum's return, Patchy Mix's Octagon debut, and Kevin Holland's wild schedule. Matt and Jim each make three official fight picks heading into Saturday's stacked show. Then it's time to catch up with Khaos Williams, who joins ahead of his short-notice bout against UFC newcomer Andreas Gustafsson. The welterweight striker reflects on his turbulent path — from getting jumped and stabbed in his younger years to a life-changing entry into MMA. Now 31, Khaos talks about staying grounded by embracing risk, investing in real estate, and focusing on long-term growth both in and out of the cage.
It's been a wild week in the world of MMA, and it began this past weekend prior to the scheduled UFC Vegas 107 main event between Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber, when the latter was forced to withdraw at the last minute due to a health emergency — and that was the beginning of the road to UFC 316 fight week. On an all-new edition of Between the Links, the panel reacts to the fallout of this past Saturday's headliner getting scratched, both fighters' comments since, and if it could be a massive fight for the UFC in the future. It's Matt Serra's 51st birthday — and what better way to celebrate than with a few surprise guests? Matt correctly guesses Din Thomas as part one of his birthday surprise — but it's the unexpected call from bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili that really makes his day. Din sticks around to co-host with Jim and Matt, as the guys share plenty of laughs before welcoming welterweight Ramiz Brahimaj. Later, the crew breaks down the highlights from last weekend's card and weighs in on how Erin Blanchfield's scratched bout with Maycee Barber could affect the title picture for Valentina Shevchenko.

The odds don't look very competitive headed into the dueling title fights atop Saturday's UFC 316. Merab Dvalishvili and Kayla Harrison are both pretty big favorites over their opponents (challenger Sean O'Malley and chalmpion Julianna Peña, respectively). The line on Harrison, in fact, is outlandish — though that fight is admittedly most interesting because of what a Kayla Harrison title reign might look like at women's bantamweight, not necessarily because we expect it to be close. As for O'Malley, is there anything he can do differently against Merab this time around? Aside from not J'ing the peen? Also, Maycee Barber couldn't make the walk last weekend. In and of itself, that doesn't seem like a HUGE deal. Buuuuut … is it indicative of larger, more dire issues with the UFC right now? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
