State of the Arts Episode 109: The New Year Special just published! My guest this week is a fellow dancer and podcaster. Also an actress, storyteller, writer and comedienne, Jenice Matias has proven herself to be a Renaissance woman. As a Jason Chin Scholarship recipient, she studied acting extensively in Great Britain. With a double bachelor's degree from Montclair State University, she has become a force to be reckoned with in the wonderful world of the arts. During her school years she was a member of the Theta Alpha Phi theatre fraternity, listed in the "Who's Who" among students in the United States and listed in the "Who's Who" for Hispanic students. As a podcaster she received over 100, 000 listeners for an episode where she shared an engaging story about her mother. A maven for comedic monologues, she has performed in various solo productions. As a professional dancer she has been a prominent member of the Piel Canela Woman's Dance Company for many years. As an actress she appeared on several television shows including Law & Order and Nurse Jackie. In addition to having her own online variety show, she is the founder and artistic director of Tropical Delight in Action, which is a nonprofit organization that promotes multi-cultural awareness of the arts. A PCHCC award was presented to her for her service to the community. Not to mention her successful ascension as the top finalist position of the NBC and VCB showcases. De VCB ondersteunt al geruime tijd bouwbedrijven bij de uitbouw van hun activiteiten in het buitenland. In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 topmensen van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven geïnterviewd. In die interviews hebben zij hun best practices en de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Daarbij hebben zij vaak verwezen naar de steun die de VCB hun gaf. In een slotinterview geeft Joeri Van Meenen, adjunct-directeur van de VCB, aan met welke sociaalrechtelijke, arbeidsrechtelijke en fiscale aspecten exporterende bouwbedrijven rekening moeten houden, welke informatie de VCB ter beschikking kan stellen en op welke manier geïnteresseerde bedrijven die informatie kunnen krijgen.
In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 topmensen van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven geïnterviewd. In die interviews hebben zij hun best practices en de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Yves Biesmans, gedelegeerd bestuurder van Tectum Group. Hij vertelt over de ups en downs van de exportactiviteiten van de dakaannemersgroep in diverse landen. De groep beschikt nu over 3 vestigingen in Polen. Yves Biesmans vertelt hoe die vestigingen concreet in de groep worden geïntegreerd en hoe de groep door haar aanwezigheid in meerdere landen haar markt heeft kunnen verruimen, maar tegelijk de risico's meer heeft kunnen spreiden.
In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 getuigenissen van bedrijfsleiders van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven verzameld. In die interviews hebben zij de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Jeroen Nevelsteen, business director van Iris Industry Solutions. Het bedrijf vat zijn expertise samen met het letterwoord ELITE. Het wil die expertise uitdragen naar het buitenland maar tegelijk die expertise uitbreiden door in het buitenland te werken. Door in Nederland te werken moest het bedrijf bijvoorbeeld al snel de CO2-prestatieladder leren toepassen. Daardoor is het bedrijf er helemaal klaar voor nu deze ladder ook in België opgang maakt.
In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 getuigenissen van bedrijfsleiders van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven verzameld. In die interviews hebben zij de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Jan Haesevoets, gedelegeerd bestuurder van Hako Boringen. Het bedrijf is gespecialiseerd in horizontale boringen en doorpersingen met een diameter van 150 mm tot 2.000 mm. Die doorpersingen worden uitgevoerd om op een sleufloze manier wegen, spoorwegen of hindernissen te kruisen voor de aanleg van riolen, gas- en vloeistofleidingen of kabels. Het gaat om een zeer gespecialiseerde activiteit waarvoor op de Belgische markt niet altijd voldoende opdrachten uitkomen. In het interview gaat hij dieper in op de diverse formaliteiten en verplichtingen in Frankrijk, Duitsland en Nederland.
In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 getuigenissen van bedrijfsleiders van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven verzameld. In die interviews hebben zij de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Bruno Geltmeyer, managing director en CEO van Denys. Denys is al sedert een 20-tal jaren in het buitenland actief. Die buitenlandse activiteiten zijn organisch gegroeid en vertegenwoordigen intussen ongeveer de helft van de omzet. Denys opereert zowel in Europa als buiten Europa maar beklemtoont tegelijk het cruciale belang van de thuismarkt en gaat dieper in op de optimale combinatie van eigen en buitenlandse talenten.
In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 getuigenissen van bedrijfsleiders van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven verzameld. In die interviews hebben zij de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Benny Buyse, zaakvoerder van Den Bouw Realisaties. Deze West-Vlaamse kmo is gespecialiseerd in prefabsysteembouw en is intussen ook actief in Frankrijk met Den Bouw France. De expansie naar Frankrijk kwam er eerst op vraag van Vlaamse opdrachtgevers die zich in Frankrijk wilden vestigen. Het gesprek gaat dieper in op de vergunningenproblematiek in Frankrijk, de concrete toepassing van de ‘assurance décennale' en de verdere expansiemogelijkheden aldaar.

In die interviews hebben zij hun best practices en de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Lucas Delmulle, bestuurder van Danilith. Dit bedrijf is met zijn geautomatiseerde woningbouw al sedert de jaren 90 actief in Nederland en Frankrijk. Alhoewel Frankrijk en Nederland buurlanden zijn, is de marktpositie van het bedrijf met hetzelfde product in beide landen toch sterk verschillend. Ook de vergunningsprocedures verlopen in beide landen anders.
In het kader van het EFRO-project Bouwen aan Internationalisering heeft de VCB 7 topmensen van Vlaamse bouwbedrijven geïnterviewd. In die interviews hebben zij hun best practices en de uitdagingen bij het internationaliseren van hun bouwactiviteiten toegelicht. Yves Aertssen, co-CEO van de Aertssen Group. Deze groep is al een 15-tal jaren in het buitenland actief, enerzijds in de buurlanden en anderzijds in de landen rond de Perzische Golf. Hoe zijn deze exportactiviteiten gegroeid? Met welke strategie? Welke competenties zijn daarbij nodig? En hoe de risico's daarbij beheersen?
