Also, tourism in India accounts for 9.4% of the GDP & is the 3rd largest foreign exchange earner for the country and ranked 7th in terms of tourism total contribution to GDP in 2017. This industry has provided employment to around 41.6 million people during the same year. The number is expected to rise by 2 per cent annum to 52.3 million jobs by 2028. Accordingly, the hotel industry is expected to see an increase in room revenue at the rate of about 10-12% CAGR over the next 5 years.
