What does your full Queendom or Kingdom look like when you determine the laws of the land? How does that get to express itself in your business and your physical space? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/discopowerup/message
I want your physical location to reflect how awesome it is to be around you, so people who don't know you yet can tell from a mile away
Is it really safe to be me? What has it cost me to have cultivated a life of belonging at my own expense? Is it worth gaining conditional entry into a club where membership is easily revoked? What if the revoking is implicit not explicit, delivered in subtle signals with smiling faces? It's been a heavy load to navigate. No wonder I'm often uncertain or confused trying to read the room. My hope is to be so committed to my own Queendom that the sneak attacks no longer land and stick. This is the real work. Navigating my own sense of safety from the skin I'm in has informed my brand of business coaching. Aligning your business with authentic self means you get to do you in your business just like you get to do you in life. If you are from a historically marginalized class of people, I bet what's holding you back in your business has roots in this exact question. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/discopowerup/message

Happy Lunar New Year to all my Asian cousins celebrating this month.
Kicking off Season 2 / Episode 41 by talking all things VISION BOARD! This exercise is super helpful for those of us who overthink or have been trained to preference logic over intuition. I use it to expand my imagination when connecting with my dream life, especially when I feel like I'm at an uncertain intersection. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/discopowerup/message
Telling my story both past and present from fearless honesty and self-love is my business challenge at this last chapter of 2022. The further back in my story the easier to tell it. Not only because I've told them more often but I've had more years since to make meaning from it. I LOVE how my work has evolved with me and in hindsight was all just right for bringing me where I am today. So my work is to keep trusting that Future Mae will understand how 2022 Mae was Just Right and to just keep swimming in the best way I know how. PS DM if you want my support for looking at your 2022 and how we can take those learns with love into your 2023. Link in bio. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/discopowerup/message
My conversation with Greg took me from my anxious 3am thoughts to developing my capacity to tolerate panic feelings while also knowing my separateness from them. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or chronic pain, Greg's expertise is in connecting with your own capacity to heal. Johanna helps her clients address the systems of their lives--both their outward functions and the inward thinking that supports them. has created a business that is difficult to describe at this one year point in her business. Yet this is the challenge for anyone in business: we are always becoming our future selves so at any moment we are only knowing what we know! May we all practice self-love and trust that where we are and all we've experienced is the exact fuel needed to cultivate the superpowers we serve with. What a privilege that Today You gets to keep becoming the fullest expression of yourself, in life and in business. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/discopowerup/message
Susan's story is yet another example of how we follow the clues of our natural interests to find our life's work. As a dancer and academic she found her way to developing curriculum for teens to discover who they are in their bodies, which led to her book The Embodied Teen. I enjoyed witnessing her name out loud that she wants to get her curriculum out to @michelleobama @drbiden @tonythurmondspi so more school systems can offer it to more youth. Can you imagine the difference it would make in our world if more teens were at home in their bodies, in their identities? I know it would've had a big impact on me. Who do you know who can connect Susan one degree closer with these changemakers? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/discopowerup/message

We speak about the homecoming of realizing 1) we are not broken 2)it's not our fault we don't feel safe and 3) we don't have to journey alone. Still thinking about Carol's powerful declaration about her latest project Born to be Seen. As a teacher all these years she has been in service to students, and now is the time to center herself: her own journey of growth and evolution from where she is to where she's going, wherever that may be! That's what she'll be sharing and that's what we will be privileged to witness by walking alongside. Many on the podcast talk about clients when they describe their greatest joy in their work. Carol's greatest joy is a celebration of her own triumphs, like the Queen of Wands photo shoot she envisioned, enacted and now embodies. ✨
Rie Langdon would like all of us to move our bodies with our full freedom all the way to our last decades. She has the superpower of seeing where our muscles and joints want support just by watching us walk. Although her clients can experience relief in just one session of Pilates work with her, her prescription to all of us is to find time to move our bodies every day. Rie and talked about how we achieve our big picture dreams by showing up to ourselves in the day-to-day, moment by moment. What is your body asking of you today? TJ's vision for us all to live outside the boxes others put us in and define our own version of success informs her coaching business on money habits as well as her podcast The Asian Detox Podcast. Next zhi's got zir sights set on transforming corporate workspaces to welcome more Asian females into leadership roles. I'm excited to see the speaking roles that will come TJ's way! You may feel in our conversation the cultural shorthand available due to our shared background as children of immigrants from Taiwan. It's difficult to convey the ease this connection allows; something unprecedented for me in my work life but most easily take for granted. Sign up for Roadmap to Relief HERE. Rachel Pereyra demonstrates in this conversation a rare glimpse of true CEO power: Rachel spent the past year creating the very successful business she had dreamed of and hated it. She's right now in the middle of a big pivot moment reimagining a revised delivery model and her ideal client. I applaud business leaders who have the courage to make big changes as soon as they discover that misalignment, trusting that the people who are for them will applaud it too. So often as leaders we are too afraid to acknowledge the friction we're experiencing that becomes burnout. By the time we face it, we've already created a lot of pain for our clients, our team, and most of all for ourselves. Even without knowing the entire new plan, Rachel was able to renegotiate previous relationships with her integrity intact, and create space for new client relationships that allowed the return of creativity and working in flow. If you are a female, LGBTQ, or non-binary business owner who wants operations support, Rachel is uniquely gifted to hear the result you're wanting to achieve and knows how to get you there. Parenting is a leadership role, which begins with leading ourselves, parenting ourselves, loving ourselves. Like leading our businesses, crossing each new threshold calls us into confronting our stories and beliefs. Sarah's words of consistency and remembering our vision illustrate the power of getting support to become whatever you want to become. I learned so much from Sarah this hour, so I'd love for you to have a listen if you could use a reminder of the power available to you if you are a mother and a business owner. I am 10 days since testing negative for Covid and no surpise, symptoms still linger. But the trickiest for me has been the Mind Management. A symptom not talked about is anxious, negative "doom" thoughts. Beyond "brain fog," I experienced it as "I cannot see a way through here;" feelings of blank, stuck, stagnation, which led to feeling discouraged. The medicine: 1) Don't blame yourself, this is a symptom you will eventually move through just like the fever and cough. 2) Release the pressure to keep moving while you heal. Trust that it is safe to REST and serve from your fuller self. 3) Find your Wonder Twins and activate the power of community support. It's safe to ask for help before you're at the absolute end of your rope. Guess what: we get to apply these principles every day, at any moment we are doubting ourselves or uncertain of the next move. Did you experience a similar trip when you had Covid? How did you find your way through the mind trash?
Maison Leigh teaches oncology yoga, going far beyond the athletic poses associated with gym yoga. Her group membership program is built to disrupt the loneliness that comes with experiencing cancer, offering support and presence through a difficult journey. Asha shared so many gems during our conversation. She talked about designing her business to fit the life she wants (instead of vice versa - as many of us build our lives to suit our work), the power of changing the questions we ask ourselves, and the truth that our decisions are never final - we can always choose to change our minds. Jesse's presence and perspective was so energizing. We talked about the power of reconnoitering, of owning your point of view, and the importance of how our work makes people feel. How do you encourage yourself? #businesscoach #creativeentrepreneurship #beginagain #design #poweroflanguage #turnonthelight
Hannah's story is proof that we don't have to wait to begin following our dreams. Her inner knowing was guiding her since childhood, and her power to live from her truth has only grown from there. We talk resilience from heartbreak, trusting in right timing, and navigating affiliate deals with integrity.
Luisa Alberto, CEO of People First Finance, is not kidding about the people first in people first. Pam shared about the importance of keeping good company - the ways that community reminds us who we are, and about the paradigm shift that is upon us. We talked about calling forward the divine feminine in all of us to build the systems and communities that will allow us to emerge from the compounding crises we are living in. This was a deep one, share your thoughts!
Do you struggle to uphold a high commitment to your clients while prioritizing your own self care? This is a conundrum for many values-led business owners. Lisa and I discussed this and more today, so have a listen to see if you catch any insights to help us out. The podcast ends abruptly due to an audio mishap, but as we finished the conversation offline, Lisa made the astute observation that we jumped right into the struggle instead of staying in the usual arc of the podcast: beginning with your WHY and your greatest JOY. When tackling a business challenge, I know the power of rooting first into your why and your joy. If we get to be happy leaders of our business, then the shape of the business gets to form around us and not the other way around.
Living Lifestyle Coach Catherine Walter brought such light and energy to this episode, which I suppose is only fitting given that her vision is nourishment that rejuvenates our bodies so we can be present and joyful in our lives. Is there a creative side-gig you have trouble calling yourself that title—artist, poet, film maker, musician? Listen to this conversation, let it inspire you to fully embrace that part of yourself. The world is waiting for your art to transform us. I'm excited to see what grows from Eleese‘s family's move this summer to Nashville to pursue the dream of growing their music career and promoting their new album. Part of why I love what I do is I get to meet people with big dreams —and in minutes I see that everything they want is available to them. Can you see it too?
Marie and I had a conversation about her business a few weeks back, and after we finished, I felt like I didn't bring the energy I intended, so I asked her to talk again. She generously agreed to do so, and also shared that our conversation had totally shifted her perspective. I keep learning that we are usually our own biggest critics. If you have a body with bones, and you live in the SF Bay Area, check out Marie's special NUCCA method of gentle chiropractic care at Equilibrium Spinal Care.
Watch this if you've ever felt like you needed to show up as some more perfect version of yourself. Leia and I remind each other that this world doesn't need our perfection, whatever that means. It simply needs us to be who we actually are today. What does that look like in your world? What do you do to bring yourself back to center when you're giving yourself negative self talk? Post your practices in the comments.

If you've ever doubted yourself as an entrepreneur, if you've ever asked yourself “Why would anyone choose me out of all the other experts offering similar services?”, watch my conversation with Salaams Rosina. They're helping me see what I know for others but have trouble seeing in myself, and here I'm doing it for them too. The people meant for you are looking for exactly your brand of what you're offering. At the heart of it is always this: REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. You don't need to do it the way they do it. In fact, we don't need another that person, what we need to see is you being fully you. So simple! So deep! And sometimes so scary. We need each other to remind us how special we are. So don't forget to get whatever support you need to keep doing you. If this resonates with you, comment below or in my DMs. I'd love to start a conversation with you too about how you can be more yourself in your work and business.
Cara Brockbank acupuncturist calls us to deep rest and connection with self to allow our bodies to heal✨ I'm always energized when an entrepreneur's offering lines up perfectly with who she's been since childhood, in this case creating healing potions with plants. The healing she experienced in her own body through acupuncture led her to learn the art herself to give to others. https://www.temescalacupuncture.com/practitioners
Amanda has been an intuitive organizer since childhood, a superpower she loves to share with busy families overwhelmed by the stuff of life. She helped me when I moved to my current house, and her voice still whispers in my ear about clearing clutter (like my post yesterday about taking past lives to the shredder) and not allowing in anything that doesn't add to my sense of sanctuary. I loved hearing about the ease with which she serves her clients, along with what a huge impact she's had creating more order in their homes. Amanda develops the kind of trust that makes each customer a repeat customer, which is a win-win that I always wish for my entrepreneur clients. We discuss the challenge of expanding her client base through referrals and testimonials. A key takeaway was Amanda growing in her willingness to overcome her fears about telling people she meets how she can create more ease in their lives. It's a good reminder to all of us entrepreneurs interested in growing ourselves and our businesses.
