A Digital Marketing Guide For Online Businesses
Are you prioritizing content that lives "above the fold" on your website? The upper-most part of your landing pages can make or break the user experience. In this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors, Chris and Noel discuss the importance of optimizing above the fold content. Few page interactions, short scrolls, and high bounce rates are all consequences of having a poor UX design above the fold. This portion of your landing pages should include calls to action, have an enticing headline and imagery, and make a great impression – because your website only has 8 seconds before you lose the user's attention. Listen to learn more about best practices for above the fold content. Shoppers have been searching for Black Friday deals the entire month, and while Black Friday might look a little different this year, it is more important than ever to have your ecommerce store optimized for the amount of users that will head to your store to buy your products. A large amount of users can slow down your page and kill your bounce rate. You also want to make sure all your images and videos are optimized, and the user experience to conversion must be flawless. Black Friday should not be limited to Friday thru Monday. People have been shopping since the beginning of the month and will continue to shop until the days right before Christmas. If you have promo codes to offer, that's a great way to get people to make conversions on your website. Of course, we have many other recommendations to prepare for Holiday shopping, so tune into our recent podcast to learn more. On this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors, we are joined by Paul Neel, the Chief Creative Officer here at Electric Enjin. We'll discuss what exactly branding is and why it is shifting to digital platforms more recently – and what that could mean for brands. Branding is, at its essence, what a company stands for, who they are, and how they are perceived. It's also about taking into consideration the consumer experience and their journey. It truly shouldn't be any different: the brand experience should communicate the brand purpose and overall brand feel. You should be focusing on the "why" rather than the "what" or "how." Consumers don't purchase the 'what' or 'how,' they purchase the 'why." So how do you focus branding around the "why"? Check out this episode to learn more. On this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors, we are joined by Stephen Steers, President of Keysan Group. He is a sales coach who has worked in 13 different countries. He shares his tales of the trade, best tips, and overall shares how when marketing ends, sales begin. Today, buyers are very educated and do not want salespeople to try to manipulate them. In sales, the worst a person could say is no, rejection is all a part of the job. A good salesperson has an actual desire to help people solve their problems. Sales reps should not push the product, but try to find out if the product will even benefit the consumer. On the other hand, marketing is to inform people there is a problem and offer solutions. Being a brand that has multiple positive attributes and establishes a story that makes people feel connected to the products they are trying to sell. On this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors, we are joined by Adam Brown, founder of Sircle Media. Adam and Noel discuss the importance of brands having a presence on social media. Some companies are skittish when it comes to using social media for sales, they think social media should be more for conversation. It is important to get into conversations about your product. Facebook groups are a great place to start, offer the head of a group some samples and let them know you want their honest opinion- do they love it or hate it? They also discuss the importance of having a social media manager. Some companies have a good presence, but they do not answer questions or comments. This is important to stay engaged with people. Along with that you can start with getting a local influencer to help and run Facebook and Instagram ads. Do not waste your time seeing what other brands are doing. Work with other brands to build a relationship and let their audience know that your brand exists, and do not be selective when working with brands. Follower counts are irrelevant as most people do not follow brands on social media. On this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors, we are joined by Shalini Sharma. Sharma is the Senior Human Resource Partner from Flock. She has worked from home for the majority of her career, she shares tips on how to be productive and stay connected to your co-workers. Take time for yourself. Take a walk, stay hydrated, and take breaks. People tend to work straight through when they work from home. Make yourself a designated work station and try to simulate the environment you would have in the office. Having a daily standup is important. Ask others if they need help, but also don't be afraid to ask for help. Do not lose the personal connection with co-workers like grabbing a coffee, designate time to chat about life and not work. Making games and competitions are ways to stay connected and have fun. Take this time to also learn and take courses. In this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors, Noel is joined by Sam Mallikarjunan, the former Head of Growth at Hubspot, co-author of Inbound Commerce - How to Sell Better Than Amazon, and Business Growth Expert. They discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has opened opportunities for small businesses with a personable approach. Large companies lost their advantages during the pandemic, like not being able to ship next day. This is not survival of the fittest, it is the survival of the adaptable. It is easier for small businesses to change their approach rather than a large corporation. Small businesses can't sell more than Amazon, but they can sell better than Amazon. People feel a connection to smaller businesses when the impact of their money makes them feel good. Businesses do not need to be everything to everyone. Understanding your consumers' lifestyle is important to sell more. The lifetime customers are so beneficial to a business. This is a time of connecting. Aniel and Noel come prepared with ecommerce tips – listen today! A note to take away from this episode, and why we offer TWO plugins for this feature, are that reviews are important! Both the good and the bad. Too many 5 star reviews seem suspicious, and they likely appear due to heavy moderation of reviews. Take advantage of those occasional poor reviews and show how you overcome the issue. People trust what other consumers have to say, they appreciate good communication from brands, and in the end, transparency creates customer loyalty. In this episode of Ecommerce Disruptors Brady, Morgan and Noel discuss the different ways content is used and how to maximize your content. Content should answer questions from consumers or provide them entertainment; having data to know what people want is better than pushing promotions at them. Your content can change how someone views your brand, so make sure you have quality content, rather than a lot of rushed content. Content is fluid- there are no black and white lines. Some users like their content in the form of a blog, while others like to listen to podcasts or easy-to-read infographics. This explains the importance of maximizing your content and displaying it in different ways across different channels. Learn how to strategize content that will reflect what your brand has to say while also gaining and maintaining loyalty from your consumers.
