The MERZCAST - The Merzbow podcast is an absolute gem for fans of noise music and those interested in exploring the works of the legendary artist, Merzbow. Hosted by Greh Holger, Mike Connelly, and Tara Connelly, this podcast offers deep dives into critical releases in the history of the genre, providing insightful analysis and commentary that is both informative and entertaining.
One of the best aspects of The MERZCAST is the hosts' passion and knowledge of noise music. Their scholarly understanding of the genre shines through in each episode, yet they remain enthusiastic fans at heart. This combination not only makes for engaging discussions, but also helps bridge the gap for listeners who may be new to noise music or unfamiliar with Merzbow's extensive discography. The hosts' infectious love for the music creates a welcoming environment that encourages exploration and appreciation.
Another highlight of this podcast is the variety of segments included in each episode. From interviews with notable guests to discussions on album artwork and track names, there is always something fresh and interesting to discover. These segments add depth to the episodes and provide different perspectives on noise music beyond just musical analysis.
However, one potential downside to The MERZCAST is that some listeners might find it too niche or focused solely on a single artist. While it certainly caters to fans of Merzbow and noise music enthusiasts, those looking for a broader exploration of various genres may not find as much appeal in this podcast. Additionally, some episodes can be quite long, which may deter listeners who prefer shorter podcast episodes.
In conclusion, The MERZCAST - The Merzbow podcast is a must-listen for anyone passionate about noise music or curious about delving into it further. With its knowledgeable hosts, fascinating segments, and genuine enthusiasm for all things noise-related, this podcast offers a unique listening experience that will leave you wanting more. Whether you're a longtime fan of Merzbow or simply interested in expanding your musical horizons, The MERZCAST is a valuable resource that educates and entertains with every episode.

We go back in time to when Greh lived in and ran his loft venue the Green Door in Detroit. Greh gives us his history moving in and deciding to host many noise shows. For the ExtraNoisextra segment, we are including a couple recordings made at the Green Door — Bloodyminded "Live Behind the Green Door" and a track from Aaron Dilloway.
A scheduling mishap had Mike and Tara sorting out an episode. The decision was made to leave the house and look for inspiration. What transpired was the discovery of a 10" by a very important historical project — "Gris" by :zoviet-france:. So come along on our journey in discovering this fantastic 10" and diving into :zoviet-france:. For the ExtraNoisextra segment on the patreon, we share two more items we got on our adventure — a book of spicy Greek plays and a 1995 issue of "Gallery."

Video game composer and sound designer Ross Tregenza joins us to discuss the process of creating all the sounds for the new Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game and maintaining a faithful atmosphere to Tobe Hooper's 1974 film. For the ExtraNOISEXTRA segment, Ross talks about his favorite video games and horror movies.
