My World My Way was the name of @e-saggila's album back in 2019. It perfectly encapsulates her brazen approach to sound which chews up and spits out everything from noise to breakcore to techno. The Iraq-born, Toronto-based artist has always revelled in the contrast between tempos, shocking rhythms and distorted textures. Part of the thrill of listening to it is the sense it could all collapse at any moment, whether releasing on her label Summer Isle or the likes of Opal Tapes, Hospital Productions, and Northern Electronics. This week she delivers an hour of pure electronic potency that brings to life her uniquely dystopian visions. Staring in what sounds like a haunted underground metro station, she then transitions into futuristic worlds of pulsating bass, squealing synths, scratchy melodies and hyper-driven percussive patterns that race along into the unknown. It's an abstract selection of sound that is cerebral and cinematic but will also cause utter carnage in a club setting.

Noise History class is underway with a full-to-the-brim episode focusing on the Skin Crime s/t LP on Hospital Productions from 2003. We had a conversation looking back on this time with Pat, and appropriately (as you'll hear), Mark jumps on out of nowhere near the end. We talked with Dominick leading up to the episode and insert his recollections and thoughts on releasing the very first Hospital LP throughout. Part "in conversation," part "audio documentary," all SKIN CRIME. Boul God records is a Philadelphia-based bizarre music label that traffics in all manner of surreal and mind-bending contemporary styles of music. From the cavernous, early Death in June influenced post-punk/neofolk of Gorseddd FM, to the disorienting blend of head fucked techno and garbled BM vocals of Grail Wizard, to the brutal and frightening electronics of Incluse, to the dadaist, Kiwi-influenced fucked guitar pop of Flying Mausoleum , Boul God is less concerned with genre than it is the cultivation of an AESTHETIC and an atmosphere. You see, underground labels function best when they are approached as conceptual art projects. The best underground labels — Siltbreeze, Harbinger, Bunker Records, Darker than Black, Hospital Productions — understand this, and when we think of them we think of a certain aesthetic. Boul God is establishing itself upon that list. The anonymous curator/owner/auteur of Boul God joins us here to discuss the label, his own personal taste, covering the Grateful Dead, and the decline of the music scene in his home city of Philly. Kevin Novak is a master of cut up harsh noise hailing from Texas, USA. Active since the late 90s, he has worked closely with labels such as Hospital Productions, Pitch Phase, and Dada Drumming, the latter of which has released his most recent masterful albums Framework and Wrought. Kevin joined me to talk about what he does, how, and even a bit of the "why?," touching on his history, recording and gear techniques, and even his other creative outlet, painting. T.E.F. is a personal favorite project of mine, so this interview meant a lot to me. On va donc essayer de rendre hommage comme on le peut (forcément pas assez) au bébé de Stefan Alt, qui comme souvent dans ce genre de projet, est passé de moyen d'exposer les travaux confidentiels de quelques connaissances à une structure bien plus grande qu'il ne l'aurait imaginé. With the upcoming “Fragmentation” 4 LP set on Hospital Productions, we had the pleasure to chat with Christina Sealey and Rich Oddie of Orphx. We go into their early days of warehouse shows and noise culture. A fascinating look at a pocket of sound experimentation emanating from a small Canadian enclave, Orphx are one of the most unique noise projects of any era.

In the first of two episodes, Dominick Fernow joins us to discuss the very beginnings of Prurient and Hospital Productions. We begin the journey in '90s Wisconsin as he navigates the worlds of death metal and techno, which eventually leads to the noise underground. While the three of us have all known Dominick for nearly two decades, we all learned plenty of new and incredible information about his most distant past. Join us for some highly enlightening noise history. Noisextra is assisting Hospital Productions to compile a live Prurient box set commemorating the 25th anniversary of the project.
