    Blake decided he wanted to make a change in his life. He wanted to live a healthier life so he could be around for his family. I work with Blake on our Razzle Dazzle grape program and I know the demands his job puts on him and the long hours he puts in at the office. Finding time to workout with his job and a family is not easy. One of the ways he decided to get jumpstarted was to do the 75 Hard Challenge. He is one of the few people I know that has actually completed it once he started. The 75 Hard Challenge is two 45 minute workouts per day, one must be outside, drink a gallon of water per day, pick a diet and stick with it, no cheat meals, no alcohol, read 10 pages a day of a self help/improvement per day, and take a progress picture per day. Blake explains what it was like to go through it all, what he liked and what he didn't like. The best part is hearing him talk about how he plans to continue his healthy lifestyle and no longer needs a "challenge" to motivate him.

    Racing an Ironman is always tough but add 30 degrees to the normal high and it can make it impossible. As I kept seeing her post about her training and running into her at the pool a few times I was excited to interview Nicole after Ironman Coeur d'alene because I wanted to hear about all the ups and downs mentally and physically of the day. It's always exciting to hear how a competitor felt when they finish a race. However, the interview is quite different because it is her first ever DNF. It was an unbearable day with 130+ degrees coming off the pavement during the ride and her body told her she had enough. Nearly 30% of the field didn't finish! As bad as I feel for her I am so happy she came on because there was so much to share about her day on the course. Believe me, Nicole is not done with Ironman yet!

    Whether you are a beginner and just starting your fitness journey or you are coming off of a long layoff from working out.  It is easy for us to compare ourselves to others and put unfair expectations upon ourselves.  Each person is at a different point with their fitness program and although it is great to have goals of where you want to be it is important to remember where you are and stick with your plan and not someone else's.   Stay consistent, celebrate the little successes and the big results will come.

    Craig Harrison lost 110 lbs and did it the right way. He found a healthy balance between food, physical activity and mental happiness. As a former Catholic priest his life was beyond busy and it became easy to let the pounds accumulate while dealing with all the responsibilities of that life. Craig talks about the importance of sleep. He rises every morning around 3:30, but now he gets up at that time because he wants to not because of a mix of poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, and mental burdens. He is honest about his dislike of working out and how important it is to him to have friends encourage him to get to the gym. Craig continues to help so many throughout our community and the world through his non profit Reflections For Women.     After helping my girlfriend move into a different home I realized the benefits of my consistent training. Find out the different ways a good fitness base helped me get through it all.  On top of the long hard days of moving we didn't have a kitchen for while.  That meant a lot of takeout and eating on the run.  I didn't realize it at the time but I just incorporated intuitive eating and got through it without putting on weight.  Of course all the physical activity with the move helped but that's what Move My Mass is all about, keeping it balanced.

    4 time winner and current record holder of one of the toughest races you can do on a bicycle, Race Across America, Kerry Ryan comes on to describe how those four man teams pulled it off.  Not only did he win those races but he did so while owning and operating Action Sports here in Bakersfield, the best bike store anywhere. Kerry has another event he is training for, the one hour track record for his age group.  He has never raced on a track but he has the power and drive to pull it off.  Not only does he have to train incredibly hard to have a chance at the record but he is doing so while traveling frequently to watch his daughter compete in english hunter jumper competitions. He knows how to outlast his competition and the stories are fantastic.
