A conversation where we meet at the crossroads of current events and original design.

Join us at the Table of Origin where this season we are discussing chapter 6 of Galatians, Nothing But the Cross. We will talk about what the cross means for us and how Paul is calling us to live life by the cross. What does that look like?
Paul is on fire with legitimate, righteous, holy indignation through much of the book of Galatians. He does not mince words. He is direct. He repeats himself. His language and cultural references are rather . . . . spicy! Join us at the table of Origin to discuss Chapter 5 of Galatians, No Other Way.
Today we are in Chapter 4 of Galatians and our focus is, No Longer Slaves. God's plan for us has always been Sons & Daughters, Created in His Image with Purpose. The Plan was interrupted by sin and everything went awry. But Jesus Came and now we have a choice. We no longer have to live enslaved to this world's systems or to the law or to idols. We can live free as we choose not to love the world. We can live free as we recognize what might be at work from within to enslave us, whether it be pride, fear, greed/comparison, unforgiveness, living beyond our means, or a wrong view of God. We can choose to. live empowered by the Spirit and walk in freedom.
In chapter 3 of Galatians, Paul continues his defense of living by faith as opposed to living by the law. God initiates and provides The Way to salvation. Why do we so readily go back to trying to earn it by keeping the law. Paul quotes the Old Testament saying that "Abraham believed God and God counted him as righteous because of his faith." The law was given for a purpose between the promise and the fulfillment of that promise, but now that the promise has been fulfilled there is a "new and better way," and we are not turning back.
We are in Week 2 of our study of Galatians, coving studying Chapter 2 with the thought that our life is not our own. God is Sovereign, Supreme Ruler over everything, yet He gives us free will. When we make Him Lord of our lives, our life belongs to Him. It is Not My Life. But do we choose to live it for ourselves or do we choose to live it for Him. The more fulfilling life is to live it as God created us to, not with ourselves at the center, but with Him at the center.
We are diving into the book of Galatians with the idea that we have been Rescued and there is No Going Back. In the first chapter we are focusing on the fact that the Gospel is GOOD NEWS! There is No Other Gospel, no other good news that is entirely true and trustworthy. No Other Gospel that carries the news of a Rescuing Savior, a Righteous Ruler, a Grace-filled Father and a Faithful Friend. The Gospel reveals Jesus and Rescues us from our own destructive ways. No Other Gospel has the power to save, to heal, to transform and to make us entirely whole.
Join us at the table of Origin as we compare Relative Trust to Absolute Truth. Truth should be rock solid. Dependable. The same in every culture, for every generation, for all time. Pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and let's have a talk!
Often the server will say, "Would you like some more tea?" Especially if you live in Texas! A common answer might be, "I Have Enough, I'm Good!" If this is our answer as a follower of God, "I Have Enough, I'm Good," that is a deception. Join us at the table of Origin as we disarm this deception with the Truth of God's Word.
Sometimes it seems like we live in a "Just enough to get by" world. Someone asks us to do something or we see something that needs to be done and for various reasons, we are tempted to say, "That's Not My Job!" But the Bible assures us that we are our brother's keeper and Jesus told the disciples they should go the second mile. Join us at the table of Origin as we discuss, "Not My Job."
Have you ever heard someone say, "Well it wouldn't have happened unless it was God's Will!"? Not true. Not everything that happens is God's Will. Join us at the Table of Origin as we discuss this very subtle lie.
Gather around the table of Origin and help us unpack the fact that love is not just the fun, the feel-good, the happy, the on-top-of-the-world. It might be a rose garden but that garden has thorns. What does the Bible have to say about the grit of love? What is the truth about love?
Join us as we disarm deceptions with the truth of God's Word. Today we talk about The American Dream and how we have developed many deceptive thoughts around what was possibly initially a God-given dream. We might need a course correction! The table of Origin is for you. Pull up a chair and join our conversation.
What name tags or patterns of identity have you adopted that are not yours to own? What is the danger of saying, "I was born this way?" Join us at the table as we discuss the identity that we have in Christ as believers. Hear how God has an original plan for our identity. We get to choose if we walk in it. Life fulfillment doesn't come from self-seeking pleasure, but from removing the focus from self to others and ultimately, to Jesus. When does life begin? This is pervading question in our culture today. Science is trying to pinpoint the exact moment in a baby's life that we can actually say this is a viable life. Politicians argue about it. People protest over it. Join us at the table of Origin as we discuss the various lanes of thought and examine God's creative plan surrounding LIFE. How can "I Prayed the Prayer" be a deception? What if God doesn't answer the way we expect, in the time-frame we expect? Can we get off track? Do we get disillusioned? It is so important to have some foundation stones of prayer in place. Join us for part 2 of THE END, a study of the Revelation. Today we will contrast False Prophets & True Witnesses, seeing the different motivations, characteristics and activities of both. We will see how satan likes to counterfeit the works of God. In and of himself, he is not able to create what God has created. He is not able to do the powerful works that Jesus does. He spends his energy trying. His goal is to destroy. Christ's goal is to rescue. False prophets testify of anything but Christ. The True Witness points right to Jesus. Continuing the contrasts laid before us in the book of Revelation, join ReGina Johnston, Jina McAfee and Kyli Rose as they meet around the table of Origin. In this episode we discuss the two judgements unpacked in the book of Revelation. Some may have never realized, there are two, one for believers and one for unbelievers. One day you can hear the Lord say, "Well done!" Join us and find out how. This is part 2 of Episode 3, The End. We are unpacking the book of Revelation. We are given two choices, life or death. Which one will you choice. Today we will talk about being Sealed by the Holy Spirit or Marked by the Beast. We will contrast the difference and illuminate the choice. We are so thankful God gives us the dignity of choice, but He wants us to choose Him.Origin is a group of women from different decades of life meeting around a table of friendship and discussion. Join us as we discuss Rapture or Tribulation. We define, compare and contrast the two, and once again, we emphasize the fact that we have a choice. The time to make that choice is NOW.
There's truth and there's counterfeit to just about everything—God's kingdom versus Satan's deceit. Satan really is just a copycat. He's not original. He comes along and tries to mimic what God does and lead us off track. Our job is to distinguish between the two. I believe many of us worry that we will be deceived even as God's elect or we won't know the truth. This is what the Scriptures do say: “For false christs and false prophets will arise [God wants us to know that] and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect [even the church]“ (Mt 24:24). So, you can understand why we're concerned. But our goal today is to leave us with confidence that we have the tools to determine what is truth!
Today is all about Christ's instructions to his church. His instructions to us. We are not just studying history tonight; we are part of history in the making. Let's set the scene, Revelation chapter 2 and 3, contains seven letters directly from Christ himself written to seven churches that actually existed around 95AD in Asia Minor which now the country of Turkey. These scriptures were written to real people who lived a long time ago, but they are relevant, timeless, and applicable to us today, every single one which is why we are going to cover all seven. As we read the letter, I want you to ask yourself, or rather, Ask the Lord, if His words are speaking to you. We're going to ask ourselves some tough questions today. Join us at the table of Origin to talk about the charges Christ gives The CHURCH.
The most important truth about the book of Revelation is this, It belongs to Jesus Christ in the sense that He is the one doing the revealing and He is the person revealed. There is a lot to see in the book of Revelation and it matters. There are symbols, dates, the things that we don't fully understand that scholars have studied for years- it matter, otherwise it wouldn't be in recorded for us, but let's not miss the forest for the trees. We're on a divine hunt for Jesus.*If we walk away from study gripped in fear- we've missed Him. *If we walk away from this study compelled to stockpile food and clutch our pearls a little tighter because the end is near- we've missed Him *If we walk away from the study of Revelation and lock our doors and hole up in the 4 walls of our churches while the world around us is desperately crying out for answers- we've missed Him.This book is about the Revelation of Jesus. Don't miss Him.
We have begun a study of Revelation, and we're excited about it. Today, we are in Episode 2, talking about the topic of Ground Zero. When we look at Ground Zero defined, we think of it as the very beginning of something or square one, maybe the center where a bomb or an explosion takes place. Today, we are looking at the city of Jerusalem and even more precisely the Temple Mount as a Ground Zero of sorts. It is where the followers of Jehovah God gathered. Their place of sacrifice and worship. We're going to look at that place as a place marked by God. Hear the words in Psalm 132:13-14:For the Lord has chosen Jerusalem; He has desired it for His home. “This is My resting place forever,” He said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.”
We are jumping into some heavy-duty subject matter. We are podcasting a study called The End. That sounds ominous. Today, we are diving in and asking ourselves this question: What time is it? The Bible is relevant for today. We can lay the Biblical timeline over the world's timeline and see clues regarding the future. We believe it is time. Time for what? Decisions! How will we live? What is important? What is lasting? What really matters? Oscar Wilde says, "I never put off until tomorrow what I can possibly do today." Our questions is, "How long do we really have to make some of the most important decisions about life?" Join us today around the table of Origin for season 3, The End: A Revelation study as we discuss, "The Time is Now!"
Today, we are going to talk about our last essential for the season. This one is a non-negotiable—the essential of Hope. We must have hope, especially in this season. We based our title “No Empty Hope” on the Scripture, Second Corinthians 5:5 in The Passion Translation: And this is no empty hope, for God himself is the one who has prepared us for this wonderful destiny. And to confirm this promise, he has given us the Holy Spirit, like an engagement ring, as a guarantee. Welcome guest, Amanda Parker as we discuss how to fill ourselves with hope.
We're all back at the Origin table for Episode 11 of The Essentials: Living with the End in Mind. Today our topic is One For All and All For One. We're talking about unity, specifically unity in the Body of Christ, in the realm of believers, Christians. I have my friends at the table—Kyli Rose and Jina McAfee. I'm ReGina Johnston. We invite you to pull up a chair and join us in this conversation as we share. We're going to start with a Scripture in Ephesians 4:3-6 NLT: 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.
The Bible teaches us that our life is "but a vapor. " Here Today, Gone Tomorrow is The Essential to live a holy life, to be a witness in what we say and how we live. The tension is that often we are living our lives according to predictable patterns and turning our luxuries into necessities. 11 Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life? 12 Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day— 13 but we'll hardly notice. We'll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness. 14 So, my dear friends, since this is what you have to look forward to, do your very best to be found living at your best, in purity and peace. 2 Peter 3:11-14 MSGWhat do you do when the "lights go out?" When life as usual is no longer the usual. Join us at the table of Origin. Hear our personal stories. Living a life that is a witness is a choice we make before the lights go out. Before the unexpected happens. Our choices, our moments are important, since "everything here today might well be gone tomorrow.
A conviction is a firmly held belief . Biblical conviction carries the idea of a faith awakening. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put His hand on you for something special. 5 When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn't just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions. 5-6 You paid careful attention to the way we lived among you and determined to live that way yourselves. In imitating us, you imitated the Master. Although great trouble accompanied the Word, you were able to take great joy from the Holy Spirit! – taking the trouble with the joy, the joy with the trouble. 1 Thess.1:4-6 MSGIn a world gone "helter skelter" we need to know what we believe and why. We need to develop those convictions in such a way that they demonstrate the love of Christ AND hold firmly to the Word of God. How do we do that? Listen in and find out.
As we near the Lord's return, what is essential? Focus! It is essential that we don't get distracted. There is so much noise. So many things vying for our attention. The apostle Paul talks about it in the book of Philippians 3:13 & 14, ". . . forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the ark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ." In Proverbs 4:25 - 27 we are told, "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left. . . " How do we stay focused with so many distractions? Join the table of Origin to find out.
It is essential to know that the life we live as a believer is targeted by a very real enemy. The enemy of Jesus is our enemy too and his name is Satan. Because we are made in the image of Christ, the devil hates us - so friends . . . This is war! In battle it is important to know Whose we are. It is important to know who we are. It is important to know who our enemy is. What are the enemy's strategies and how to we fight an already defeated foe. It is essential to know that we fight from a place of victory.
What if you could team up with someone who knows everything? What if you could meet regularly with the greatest leader that ever lived? What if you could have a best friend that you could totally depend upon, that you knew would never leave, that would always have your best at heart? YOU DO! And you have an always opened door to this most intimate relationship. Prayer is an essential as we keep the end in mind. Around the table of Origin we answer the question, "Why is Prayer Essential?" Join us for a challenge to prioritize your time in prayer.
The two minute warning has sounded in this life as we know it. We are nearing the time when we believe Jesus will return. Given the urgency, what's essential? We believe "worship" is essential. Join us to hear what worship really is and why it is essential especially as we navigate these "last days."
Join the Origin table, ReGina Johnston, Jina McAfee and Kyli Rose with guest, Danielle Raesz, personal trainer and aspiring American Ninja Warrior. Danielle knows something about the cost of building muscle. What's essential as we hear the two minute warning nearing the end of the game? Discipline! What does discipline have to do with finishing well and how do we develop it? Why is it essential as we near Christ's return?
Imagine you are in a football game and have heard the two-minute warning. You have the ball. What is absolutely essential to finishing well? In this life, what is absolutely essential to finishing well. We believe The Word of God is essential. In this podcast we discuss the essential of The Word - - What He Says ^^^. We want to move the Word of God to a place of priority above all the noise we are hearing today. We are on Zoom with guest, Joan Butler and sometimes the technology is interfering with the best sound and interaction, but stay with us to hear just how essential we believe The Word is.
Repentance is a 180 degree turn. Why is saying, "I'm sorry, I messed up" so difficult? Why don't we want to repent? What blessings are we missing because we will not bow? Because we will not repent? Because we will not say with true sorrow, "We are sorry?" Jesus is the perfect sacrifice and the only way to God. He paid a great price for our forgiveness and for our righteousness. To access that repentance is required. Daily, regular repentance of sin. We've heard it said that we should stop repenting. No - - not so. Repentance is for our benefit and for our good.
Join us for Season 2, Episode 1 as we discuss the "elephants in the room" in light of original design. This season on Origin pull a chair up to our table of fun conversation as we, ReGina Johnston, Jina McAfee and Kyli Rose talk about The Essentials. You have just heard the two minute warning. You have the ball, what is essential to finish the game well. Why is love essential and how do we do it well?
Join us at the table of Origin as we discuss our current struggle with racial reconciliation with Ladies in Leadership around the table and two guests, Joan Butler & Rosalind Booker. It was an honor to close our discussion regarding Original Design and Women in Leadership this season with these two sister friends.
Join us at the table of Origin as we discuss another "zinger" in scripture requiring us to dig deeper in order to understand the actual meaning. Best practices for interpretation are part of the discussion giving practical and accessible tools so that all readers can, with the help of multiple theologians and scripture verses, discern what scripture is saying.
Join us at the table as we discuss the Apostle Paul's writings in the letters to the Corinthian church regarding women and the church. Unpacking good practices for interpretation we will look beyond the black print on the page to Paul's practices, seeking to find congruency between the two.
Join us as we discuss terms, "mutuality," "equality," "unity" and "intimacy." What do these terms mean in relation to Original Design. We live these terms most effectively when we remember to honor one another as one who belongs to God. Jesus does not disqualify. He came to qualify. Christ is all about restoring what is broken. Don't lose hope.
Jesus is our model, our example for how to live out the gospel. He IS the Gospel. In New Testament scripture when Jesus walked on the earth, he would parallel his ministry to men and women. He would heal a man and then turn and heal a woman. He would share parables about a woman, and then about a man. He gave illustrations that women of that day would identify with and then illustrations that men of that culture would understand. He was inclusive. He is inclusive. His call for us to carry the gospel is mutual to both men and women. Jesus brought a better way to live. The hierarchical structures are man's design. Jesus said, "The first shall be last." He upended everything. For more detailed show notes, please visit us athttps://www.facebook.com/OriginPodcastGlobal/

Episode 3: More Than BoxesWelcome to Origin where we look at current events through the filter of a pre-supposition that there is a plan A, an original plan, a blueprint that gives context and clarity when it comes to present-day “elephants in the room.” We hope to discuss things among us, four decades of women, that often are subject matters avoided even at holiday seasons with family. We think it is going to be fun. Maybe at times a little tense. Not performed. But just a conversation among friends. Why we gather: Recently towards the end of last year we heard a woman, most revered by us, the ladies of this podcast told to “go home” when it came to ministry and leadership. So, we wanted to have a genuine conversation about Women and Leadership, particularly in and through the local church. We thought it would be good to mention briefly why this subject matter would bring us to the table of Origin.· To alleviate the frustration arising from the devaluing of Christ in people· To diminish the loss of voices and giftings at the table· To assure young women that they are vital to the Kingdom· To expose the disconnect between what we were made for and how we actually live· To answer our own questions: Are we pleasing to the Lord?· To confirm the gifts and callings of God in fellow believers· To call to the silent voices to speak up, realizing that silence is saying something· To support one another more effectively in the God-endeavors of their lives· To expose the enemy of building one another up and to building the Kingdom of God Our premise: A scriptural pre-supposition that there is an original design as an overview to answer every question. Interpretation of scripture must fit within original design. Interpreting Scripture:· Prescriptive - relating to the imposition or enforcement of a rule or method· Descriptive - serving or seeking to describe· Equality, Mutuality, Unity, Intimacy · Evaluate in terms of timeless truths, historic records, restricted regulations· Fit each verse into scriptural passage, each passage into the theme of its book, each book into the culture and context of that audience, the entire Bible into the context of Original Design· Welcome Holy Spirit in the journey · Let the Bible read you· God is continually revealing Himself and His revelation will unfold throughout eternity. His revelation will agree with His Word. Questions we are asking: Are we married to our tradition? Does our identity flow from our traditional beliefs? Is our identity found in an eternally unfolding revelation of God? Where is Life? Is God male or female? Do we realize that Jesus used illustrations that include what we would consider to be masculine and femine? In order to be true to current events, Origin takes a break from scheduled conversation to share our experiences with Shelter-in-Place. What does God say about Covid-19? Do my prayers really matter? These are the kinds of questions we wrestle with when we ask ourselves, "Where is God in Covid-19?"
