Jumping Dreams was founded by sisters Dominique Artis and Angelicka Crawford September 2017. Being former competitors in the sport of double dutch they naturally had a passion for jumping rope and wanted to start a program in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. Through jumping rope they realized you get more out of it than jump rope you literally develop important keys to life. Angelicka specifically took the approach from fighting childhood obesity as a child and used jump rope to stay in shape and build confidence. Dominique on the other hand used jump rope to make friends and travel the world. The sisters put the two ideas together and decided why not run an organization that can help youth of all ages and sizes become stronger physically, mentally and emotionally. Which will serve as a tool to build confidence, leadership, and social skills through the ropes of life. Jumping Dreams started off as a hobby for Artis and Crawford which later turned into a career to help do good in the community of Charlotte , especially during the pandemic when many schools and youth organizations were shut down or limited. Our team ranks in the top 5 in the world in the sport of double dutch. We're committed to succeeding as a unit, and dedicated to representing our team's principles of hard work and sportsmanship. Jumping Dreams is made up of some incredibly talented players and a terrific staffing team who always seems to know when to push the right buttons and how to pull the right strings. In our program we believe you should dream big and jump over any struggles in the ropes of life. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ernest-tate/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ernest-tate/support

Although Black Girl's Guide to Atlanta was created to help transplants and tourists experience Atlanta like a local, it has a bigger purpose. It also seeks to highlight black and women-owned businesses that are often overlooked in the local media. Shanita wants people to know that especially when it comes to black-owned businesses, there are wine shops, luxury handbag boutiques, bespoke fragrance shops, private clubs, and coffee houses. Black businesses go beyond soul-food restaurants and hair salons. They are vast, diverse, and high-quality. Shanita hopes to use the Black Girl's Guide to Atlanta platform to reshape the conversation and perspective about Black-owned businesses. This is how she wants to contribute to our community. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ernest-tate/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ernest-tate/support

At the age of 12, Shane was traumatized by the experience of stumbling upon his beloved parents smoking crack cocaine. He was affected in ways that would not become apparent until his late teens. As a gifted, but troubled high school senior who had just lost his job due to an unexpected closure, Shane was vulnerable to the “street life”. Before he could graduate or figure out what was going on with him, Shane was on his way to prison with a sentence of life plus fifteen years. While in prison it became evident to the people around Shane (inmates and employees of the state), that he was compassionate, honest, resilient, and willing to put his life on the line to mediate disputes that could have ended up being deadly. Three powerful prison officials, in particular, acknowledged his efforts and are responsible for Shane walking out a free man 20 years after he was incarcerated. Shane now hold positions within his community ranging from Chaplain of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department to Executive Director of People Living in Recovery (PLR). Needless to say, Shane continues to mediate, maintain peace, and help people” get out of their own way” through life coaching, mentoring, and motivational speaking. It is hard to list all of his credentials or professional titles because helping others is not just a job, but a lifestyle for him. The things he strives to do every day in his different professions are connected to his life story, often the stories of the people he serves resonates deeply with him. However, Shane is very proud of the positions he has had the privileged to hold and the platforms he is able to use to do what he loves to do. Sometimes he thinks about how he went from serving a life sentence to having the ability to help people stay out of prison or help people in prison maintain their dignity. Shane thinks of how he went from getting caught in the “street life” due to his finances to three years after his release owning two beautiful homes in his local community. Shane thinks of how he went from traumatizing familial experiences to having a dedicated and loving wife with whom he has had the pleasure to raise two beautiful children with. Shane will continue to pay it all forward by teaching the skills that he has developed through his lived experiences and inspiring hope in others! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ernest-tate/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ernest-tate/support

The story of Rashe's Cuisine started many years ago when Rashe was a teenager. Young Rashe dreamed of creating foods inspired by her life and family background in Jamaica and the Deep South. She knew she wanted to recreate the foods that were special to her as a child and make them in a way that reflected the bounty of the area in which they were grown and would be eaten. Using fresh, seasonal foods and preparing them with care and just the right amount of seasonings to bring out the best flavors is something she learned from both of her Jamaican and African American cultures. Her love of food and family is reflected in every dish she creates. Today, Rashe's Cuisine is a family business, employing three generations and offering a bevy of services including catering and cooking lessons. Rashe even has her own blend of coffee! Early Life: Born and raised in Augusta, GA, home of the famous musician, James Brown. Grew up listening to all the greats from all genres of music. Shelton often would purchase music cassettes and give as gifts to parents. Mom's favorite was Aretha Franklin. In love with music his whole life, Shelton started as a DJ in 2008. Initially it was just for fun, and eventually became a business. Some of the early events included those through word of mouth while living in Abilene, Texas. After relocating to Charlotte, NC, Shelton eventually became known as DJ Shel-Rock aka “Spotty McFly”. DJ Shel-Rock has worked corporate gigs for popular Charlotte-based, Pick 42 Mobile DJ's (company). Some gigs included parties held at Ritz Carlton, Trump National Golf Club, and Christian Day School.
