The Creators Calling

In this last episode on Solomon's temple, we are going to enter into the Holy of Holies. This is the inner most part of the temple. It is the place where God's Presence dwells. It is one of the most awe inspiring pictures of the Lord we can understand in Scripture. It gives us a glimpse of what we can look forward to for all of eternity! God is our Provider. That concept was foreign to every other culture in the world in Biblical times. It is as just as forgiven a concept today. After, we are to be “Self-sufficient”. We live in a time when people look at God as their cosmic “buddy”, and not as He truly is.How He has shown Himself to us in Scripture. The temple is a revelation of God in very specific ways. There is so much meaning to everything the Lord does. His Word is sop intentional, so precise, that we would know him more. That includes what He tells us about Solomon's temple and the tabernacle. Why is the temple of the Lord that nice. Stood in Jerusalem so important throughout Scripture? We read about it, and it sounds like it was an incredible place to have seen, but what did it mean to the people of that time? This includes the tabernacle as well. The temple was to be the place where the God of the entire universe would commune with man, His creation. That being the case, it is something we should have some familiarity with. There is a connection to you and I. The temple has many things to tells us about the Lord, and we are going to begin a study that will take us through Solomon's temple, as well as look at there tabernacle. This is a study that could go on for weeks and weeks, but we are going to take some time to look at a few of the significant images that the temple held. Why are they important to us? The world in which we live is one where people get lost in the shuffle. It is easy to feel alone, ignored, and to think no one cares at all. What is it the Lord desires for you that you can walk as a victor in Christ? It is an important question and one we need to know the answer to if we are to move along with the Lord in our lives. We live in a world where people are told that they are the result of a meaningless, random process called evolution. Their lives are a result of nothing more than a series of convenient accidents and as a result men and women are driven to the conclusion that their lives have no meaning or purpose. The ramifications of this thinking are catastrophic, and result in life being a long progression of disappointments. One of the most difficult things we face today in the church is being able to discern wether a book that sounds like it might be interesting is theologically sound to read. “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 ESV “I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.” Psalm 101:3 ESV “Worthless” here means to be good for nothing, causes destruction or hard heartedness. There are literally thousands and thousands of books being sold, and we cannot be too careful. Christ moves through His people to create harbors of beauty in a world that does not know its Creator. It is a part of being His image bearer, that men and women create to show His glory. There are so many ways the the disciple of Christ can express His beauty in the world. We live in a world that is drifting farther and farther away from the beauty that is in Christ, and is careening into darkness. Each expression is unique to the maker of it, and it is that uniqueness that spreads the Truth of Christ's beauty to a wide ranging audience. If there's one thing the world needs a lot more of, its joy. For the believer in Christ, Joy is a part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit that is available to each one of us. There is, however, many things that can keep His joy from from being a part of who we are and how we live. Artists are people who have a vision for what they are going to create. Wether it is the plot to a book they are going to write, lyrics of a new song, chord progressions that's capture a mood or feeling, all of these require a vision to move forward. It also requires discipline to carry out that vision. For the disciple of Christ, seeking what His will and desire are for them. He is the ultimate source for any vision that will have eternal consequence. Sometimes, however, that vision can become blurry and hard to see. That can lead us to feeling isolated and questioning what we are doing. Does this matter at all for the kingdom of Christ? Is what I am doing meaningful at all? One of the biggest challenges any of us can face is trying to forgive someone who has a wronged us and hurt us. For some, it can be emotional, some physical, and for others, it both and more. There are few careers where the pride and ego are more promoted than in the arts. People that enjoy music, movies, writing, dancing, fine art, truly look up to the abilities of the artist. Often, they place them in a place of admiration that can feed self and encourages self exaltation. That message is reenforced throughout our culture. The world cries “I must increase, He must decrease”. One of the key components of the communication that take's place between artist and viewer is authenticity. There is a longing in every person for genuiness in their lives, and the art they choose is no exception. In a world where deception and image are manufactured in a myriad of ways, authenticity stands out. People know the real from the fake. There is one need that every man or woman has. That need is that the sin that separates them from God dealt with once and for all. With that forgiveness, they can have a relationship with the God of the universe, now and for eternity. That need, that forgiveness, comes only as we repent and receive Jesus sacrifice for our sin on the cross and know His resurrection guarantees us eternal life. For the unbeliever, there is a veil over their hearts when it comes to the Gospel. That veil keeps that truth from penetrating through to effectuate the salvation that the Holy Spirit is speaking to them about. For those in the New Age movement, that veil can be heavy and dense as satan attempts to hold it in place and keep the lost in the dark. Seeing a need and then making the decision to serve others by meeting that need is a part of what's an artist does.The difficult part can come when what you have been doing needs to change in one way or another because the need has changed or you have been shown by the Lord that the change is going to serve other more.
