If you've ever wished you could create all your jewelry from gemstones you've discovered, you'll love this conversation with my guest today. Lisa Carroll is a silversmith and self-proclaimed treasure hunter from Australia who recently joined the Slowmade Collective. She loves incorporating Australia's beautiful Lightening Ridge opals into work, but an even bigger thrill is going down into the mine that she and her partner own and discovering beautiful opal specimens. I can only imagine. I'm always trying to source gemstones from small family owned mines with ethical mining practices, but honestly that can be really challenging and with so many stone dealers outside of the US, it's hard to know who you can really trust. I love that Lisa is literally creating jewelry with opals that come from their own mine and I couldn't wait to chat with Lisa about all of this. Opal mining is literally in Lisa's blood. Her grandfather mined opals while her grandmother cut and polished them… and she's proudly to carrying on this deep rooted family heritage. Lisa was an absolute delight to speak with and her energy was infectious. Of course we talk about the unique qualities of Lightning Ridge opals, the intricate process of finding and processing opals and the challenges and dangers that come with mining… including emus and the occasional venomous snake. Lisa also shares her experiences balancing her work as a hair stylist and salon owner, jewelry artist and miner with family responsibilities, along with the joys and challenges of living a more simple rural life when they are living for extended periods of time at the dig site. Message: The SilversmithSeries: Messianic MetaphorsService Host: Pastor Caleb SchmiegeThe anticipation of a new leader comes with new expectations for those who follow. Are we prepared in our own hearts to welcome the one for whom we prepare? God's expectations stand for all time – they don't change. Which means, we must change. All change is hard. This change is impossible – for us. Thank God his grace and mercy never change. He sends the refiner – the one who applies the heat so that the silver is purified. Our God calls us to return to him in repentance, acknowledging our sin and letting it be burned away, and God returns to us to restore, to refine, and purify through the miracle of justification and faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit will continue to refine and purify us as God's holy children – purified silver in the hands of a master silversmith. After resistance from Israel's Priests, Malachi announced that the Lord “Would come to the Temple” (Mal. 3:1). “The LORD will come” is a warning of His judgment as the proceeding context indicates. In this life, the Lord's judgment is merciful and redemptive. The Lord will come in Judgment as a Refiner to purify and launderer to wash clean (Mal. 3:2). Refining silver is a very tedious process (Mal. 3:3). The Silversmith would refine silver by separating it from the other mined metals. The Silversmith would use the varying heat of the furnace to separate: lead, copper, gold. The Silversmith would use the varying heat of the furnace to separate: lead, copper, gold: lead melts at 327.5°C; silver melts at 932°C; gold melts at 1064°C; copper melts at 1085°C. This is similar to - First Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." The Silversmith would remove the dross and separate the silver when the silver reached its melting point it would turn white. When the silver turns white, it absorbs light and becomes highly reflective. It is as we look into the face of Christ that we are transformed into the likeness of Christ. The Lord still refines and purifies His people through adversities (Isa. 48:10 “afflictions”). Malachi 3:3, "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD." God's judgment always reveals His heart! What we learn from this Malachi Passage: - Recognise that the Silversmith knows when the silver is purified when He can see His face in the refined silver!

"Listen my children, and you shall hear, of the midnight ride of Paul Revere." With this one line, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ensured the legacy of 18th-century Boston silversmith, mechanic and entrepreneur, Paul Revere. The poem, published in January of 1861 in the Atlantic Monthly magazine was simply entitled "Paul Revere's Ride," and purports to detail the ride of Paul Revere to warn Middlesex county farmers and minute men about the approach of Regular Army soldiers to capture a cache of weapons and supplies hidden in Concord, Massachusetts. However, that dramatic ride was just one of dozens of rides that Paul Revere was hired to do on behalf of the people of Massachusetts. The Silversmiths Reflection #RTTBROS #Nightlight Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” - James 1:12 (KJV) The Silversmith's Reflection In the heat of the fire, a silversmith works diligently, refining silver until it's pure. He explains that the silver must be kept in the hottest part of the flame to burn away all impurities. His constant attention ensures it doesn't burn; he knows it's ready when he sees his own image reflected in the gleaming metal. just as the silversmith sees his image in the refined silver, God watches over us through our trials until He sees His reflection in us. In the midst of trials, it may seem easier to falter and lose hope. But remember, it is the testing of our faith that produces perseverance. Let us embrace these challenges, not as burdens, but as opportunities to grow closer to God, to lean on His strength, and to renew our faith. As we continue to endure, let us do so with joy, knowing that the trials we face are not in vain. They are shaping us, molding us into the image of Christ, preparing us for the eternal glory that awaits. So let us stand firm, with our eyes fixed on the Lord, for He is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. And in His perfect time, He will stablish, strengthen, and settle us, making us perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image reflected in you. A Faith that can't be tested can't be trusted! https://linktr.ee/rttbros Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out. https://linktr.ee/rttbros

Last Friday, I had a great Coaching call with a friend and client from Missouri, Isaac. We went down the rabbit hole on a bunch of different things, much of which is too much to share here. But one of the topics we got to talking about was Jesus, vibrational energy and how God builds us up. Isaac made the great analogy of God being a Silversmith. If you hold the spoon or ladle over the fire too long, it gets ruined. The struggles you are having is the flame. You are the silver, God is putting you through exactly what you need to go through to become the best version of yourself. Struggle is essential. I recorded a short podcast for you on my thoughts around this topic. If you feel stuck, frustrated and anxious about where you are at in your life at this moment, then take a listen, I think it will bring you some comfort. P.S. - If you are interested in how I can transform your life, head on over to www.pandamanofficial.com and check out some of my books and Coaching options!

Art has been part of her life since she was little with her dad being an artist and having grown up in studios and galleries. Lauren has always done some form of art but finally took it seriously a couple years ago. It helps her find balance. Everyone is a creative, we just have to take the steps to express it! The different voices I get to hear on the podcast keeps it fresh and interesting for me and make me want to continue doing it. This is my seventh year and doing the Art Dealer Diaries and I'm always amazed that there's still something that I haven't heard / some person that I haven't met that fills in the gaps. So today I had Alvin Yellowhorse and he's a silversmith. I like to think of him not only as a silversmith but also as a very creative artist who works in metal. He not only produces great work but also teaches classes to inspire and spread his gift to others.I've had his work in my gallery but I've never actually met him and I never had the chance to purchase things directly from him. So he called me and set up an appointment and I got some great work as a result. I was thrilled to be able to buy some and I got to hear his story. He took the time to share his path in life, which is like almost all artists, is filled with twists and turns you can't see coming. Alvin grew up close to Gallup and a little town called Lupton and he still has a store there and his family has owned and operated the Yellowhorse stores there for decades. One thing I noticed about his jewelry, even before we met, was that he will use different types of stones that you just wouldn't expect. He uses meteors, for instance, and the highest-grade stones he can find. You can tell his work is all about uniqueness, quality, and most importantly, creativity. It clearly shows in this podcast. He's a humble guy, and he's one of the best. So I had an interesting and really fun time getting to know Alvin, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I had Victoria Adams on today and wow, what a delightful person she is. She's such an upbeat, happy person. I've been very familiar with her work for probably two decades, and she always exhibits at prominent Indian Market events. Victoria is known for her beautifully designed jewelry and she makes custom handbags that are to die for. This year at SWAIA Indian Market, she won the best of class for the diverse arts category, which is a big, big deal. Her entry was very unique mixed-media sculpture that included a tripod with glass containers. It was a piece of three-dimensional art that really meant a lot to her and we talked a lot about it.We talk about the importance Indian market, her career, and how she went from really not being in the arts to being a powerhouse in the world of - not only native arts - but just arts, period. So this was a very fun and enjoyable podcast. I really did have a great time with Victoria Adams.

I think the reason I do these podcasts is for guests like the one I just had on, which is Roy Talahaftewa. I have to say, he is such a genuine, wonderful person, artist, and someone that I think everyone should get to know if they don't already. For one thing, just on the silversmith part, he's won best of show at the Indian Market events the Heard Museum, and the Museum of Northern Arizona, but also at the Santa Fe Indian Market. I could be wrong but don't think anybody has accomplished that before. The one at the Museum of Northern Arizona was this year, so 2023. We just talk about a lot of things. About his life, about where he's been and gone, the process of becoming an artist and what that requires, whether you're a Hopi silversmith or, you know, someone dealing in contemporary art or Western art.Roy is clearly a dedicated artist and also just a genuinely kind person. So I had a great time. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Roy Talahaftewa on episode 258 of Art Dealer Diaries Podcast.
"Move a muscle change a thought, change a thought and you change your life - Tuchy Palmieri”This week, Mia and Adrienne sit down with Andrea and learn about how yoga changed her life. Andrea has been a friend of the podcast and a dear friend of both Mia and Adrienne. We discuss her journey as a Yoga Teacher and how she's learned to create space for herself. She shares her grief story after losing her mother and how yoga helped her “be in your own energy” to process her feelings. Drea is a local San Antonio Yoga Teacher and Silversmith. Follow Love Art Style jewelry on Instagram Andrea's website: https://www.loveartstyle.com/Check out this article from Yoga International on the Gunas: https://yogainternational.com/article/view/the-gunas-natures-three-fundamental-forces/“THE GUNAS CLOSE UPThe word guna literally means “strand” or “fiber” and implies that, like strands of a rope, the gunas are woven together to form the objective universe. Philosophically, the theory of the gunas explains what this universe is made of and how it came to manifest itself as mind and matter. But more important for yoga practitioners, awareness of the gunas tells us whether we are genuinely moving forward in life (sattva), running in place (rajas), or losing our way (tamas).”Follow us on TikTok:https://www.tiktok.com/@yogachangedFollow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/yogachanged?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=For more, go to https://howyogachangedmylife.com Wanna be on the show? I love the type of podcast where I get to go in-depth with the person I'm speaking to, so much so that I begin to feel a connection that's hard to describe. Well, I had that experience with Bo Joe. He's an amazing silversmith and an incredibly interesting person. I've known his father, sculptor and painter Orland Joe for many tears, but I hadn't really had the opportunity to talk to his son, especially not on this kind of level. Bo was a successful sound engineer for some big names in the music industry such as The Smashing Pumpkins, who he worked intimately with. We talk about that component of his life, working with these really famous people and he was really one of the best at what he did. That being said, it wasn't fulfilling for him.One day, Bo realized that it was stones, metal, and the forming of both elements into wearable art that was his true calling. Fast-forward to today and he's become an exceptional, respected silversmith. He has a major gallery that represents him and he's doing incredible things. You can feel Bo's inner struggle as he speaks on his journey from one art business to the next. Towards the end, he really kind of lets it go and you see his genuine love for the craft on full display. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Bo Joe Part 2 on Art Dealer Diaries Podcast.

Being a creator virtually guarantees that you are going to face failure. That is just a part of the process, but it is perhaps one of the most important parts. Excellence is not a one time event, it is a continual struggle. But when at the core of your creativity is the desire to only glorify the Lord that has given you so much, you can move through most anything that comes your way. My guest today is enthusiastic, joyful, and won't let anything stop her from the calling that the Lord has placed on her life. It will take about 30 seconds, and your going to have a smile on you face and want to hear more!` Contact Information; Instagram; @nevadaw Website; www.nevadawatt.com, www.beamaker.school --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/curt-mattson/message
