Welcome to The Makeup Artist Chronicle! I’m your host Juliya and I’m so very happy you’re here. I’m a pro makeup artist and on this podcast I want to share my look into the beauty industry with you! Join me every week to talk beauty, artistry, and welcome
I'm back! Not with part 2 of the last episode, which I released a month ago (more?) but with an incredible conversation with Lauren Vena. Lauren is a pro-makeup artist with decades of experience and is currently the cover and features MUA for Bella Magazine. Her first book, My Mom: the best mom ever! seeks to accept the messiness of womanhood and motherhood that we all encounter (because it's human and that's super cool!). Lauren is super cool, too. A Jersey girl at heart, we talk about East Coast living, coming up in the beauty industry, and the one product she can't live without (spoiler: its car tweezers). I hope you like this episode! I'll be back with part 2 of MUAs who revolutionized the game as soon as I'm done with research. There are so many cool people I'm learning about and I can't wait to share them with you! ❤️ Check out Lauren's IG https://www.instagram.com/makeupartist_lv/
Alt title: "Cutesies Up The Boys" In this episode, I did a little history dive into the amazing and amazingly weird makeup artists who changed the beauty industry forever. This episode is focused on the MUAs in Hollywood and include Max "Maxy Boo" Factor, George "Georgie Boy" Westmore, Dorothy "Dottie" Ponedel, and Bernadine Anderson. I hope you enjoy part 1 and that you'll tune in for part 2 next week where I will talk about the MUAs who have revolutionized fashion, beauty retail, and the internet. Drop me a DM www.instagram.com/muachronicle or a voicemail 877-THE-MUAC with your thoughts! ✌
I was doing an episode on weird beauty products after a diamond made out of ranch triggered a memory from 2005 when Burger King made a fragrance. Then the Oscars happened. So naturally, I wanted to talk about the moral of the story: live like you're Tiffany Haddish at the Oscars. I talk outfits, cool moments, and yes, that slap. Drop me a DM www.instagram.com/muachronicle or a voicemail 877-THE-MUAC with your thoughts! ✌
It seems like every celebrity is releasing a beauty brand so, in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, I couldn't help but wonder... where did the intersection between celebrity and beauty brands begin? Once I tickled the Googler, I found out some fun tidbits and unlocked a core memory. I hope you enjoy this episode! Amanda McIntosh knows a thing or two about how frustrating taking off makeup can be. As a professional musician, she found all of the cleansing methods out there to be bad for skin or bad for the environment. After years of research and prototyping, Amanda came up with The Mitty - a plush alternative to washcloths that fits snuggly on the hand and only needs water. The Mitty is now just one product in a lineup from Amanda's beauty brand Take My Face Off. In this episode, she talks to Juliya about what it's like to start a beauty brand while balancing being a professional musician and raising a family, her non-linear path to creating Take My Face Off, and why it's always important to stay open to inspiration (hint: it's truly all around you).
