You know those movies that you loved as a kid? What ever happened to them? Maybe you remember grabbing a random VHS cover off the shelves at Blockbuster, but can't quite remember the title. Or perhaps you loved a strangely specific scene from some bizarre film your cousin owned, but you can't really…
Party on, dudes. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
This movie is so bland I can't even think of a good description. A girl and a blind hermit and Merlin's bird team up with a two headed dragon to retrieve King Arthur's magic sword to save Camelot from the evil Lord Ruber. There. I did it. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Someone farted but it wasn't me. Lucas really hated this movie. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com

Merry Christmas! Or, I should say, С Рождеством! Cuz we are going back to the motherland for this one! For our last movie of 2024, we are taking a look at Don Bluth's Anastasia, starring Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Hank Azaria, Angela Lansbury, and our favorite, Christopher Lloyd. This movie has it all - Russia, Trains, Music, Talking Albino Animals, Undead Rasputin, Limbo, Cool Shit. It's a bit of weird one. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
No, no, wait. It's not THAT Jack Frost! We already did that one. This is the horror-comedy also called Jack Frost. This one does not have Michael Keaton. This one had the holographic VHS cover art that you would pass by in the video store. You know the one. Where it would make a scary face. However, the other Jack Frost might actually be scarier. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Don't act like you don't know the movie. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
In this episode, we take the long road back home. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Happy Thanksgiving! In this special episode, we take a look at some classic (some more than others) Charlie Brown movies - It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown; A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving; and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Grab some hot cocoa, a warm blanket, and the ole pigskin as we take a look back at some of our favorite holiday movies. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
I can't believe how deep we got talking about this silly movie. Bill Murray is a bumpkin who gets involved in some serious shit, but he believes it's all just an act! Will he learn his lesson and save the day, or will he bumble around and be a dummy? Or maybe both? Find out this week on Throwback Theater. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
We know, we know, this is not a kid's movie, and it breaks our "no post-9/11" rule, but some of us saw this movie at too young an age. It stars Edward Norton, who plays Smoochy, a lovable kid's show host, as he is thrust into the seedy underbelly full of the crime and unsavory characters. Also starring Robin Williams, Danny DeVito (who also directed), Jon Stewart, Catherine Keener, and Harvey Fierstein. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Get. Off. My. Plane. In this movie, Harrison Ford is the president and he's kicking some Russian ass! On a plane! Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Happy Halloween! Turn off the lights and join us for this very spooky episode full of demons, murder, and marijuana. In this movie, Devon Sawa is a slacker burnout whose hand gets possessed by the devil and goes on a killing spree! But with the help of his buddy, Seth Green and Elden Hensen, he sets out to save the hot neighbor, Jessica Alba, before she's dragged to hell. Also featuring Vivica A. Fox, Jack Noseworthy, and Fred Willard. Oh, and the Offspring. It's peak teen 90s. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
We're getting both spooky and international! Join us as we watch this Brazilian treat full of witches and wizards and magic and weird sock puppet things. It's everyone's favorite, for sure. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Our first Twin Twin Michelle movie! (AKA Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) In this movie, the twins have to save their family's home by saving their rich aunt from their witch aunt. You know, that classic trope. Along the way, they meet the tin man, the cowardly lion, and the scare crow. I think. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
You know the movie. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Dragons Forever (Chinese: 飛龍猛將) is a 1988 Hong Kong martial arts action comedy film directed by Sammo Hung, who also starred in the film, and co-directed by Corey Yuen. The film co-stars Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Pauline Yeung, Deannie Yip, Yuen Wah, Roy Chiao, and Crystal Kwok. It is the last film in which Hung, Chan and Biao all appeared in together, as later Chan subsequently focused on his solo film career.[3] In the film, a lawyer is hired to discover information that would destroy a fishery owner's reputation, and undermine her legal case against a chemical factory. The lawyer employs two agents to help his cause without informing them of their respective roles in the scheme, resulting in hostile relationships between the agents. The lawyer and his agents turn against their employers when they learn that the factory is a front for the production of narcotics. That's just from Wikipedia cuz I'm in a rush. AUDIO FIXED AND RE-UPLOADED! Please see the description for "Ep 160 - See Spot Run" for more information. Sorry about the mess. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
AUDIO FIXED AND RE-UPLOADED! We're sorry for the shitty audio in the original upload. We fixed the issue, but Spotify didn't want to update the new file. So, unfortunately, we had to completely delete the files for this track (and the next one) and re-upload. I hope this one is a bit more listenable. It still is a bit boomy, due to the microphone that I (Eric) was using. We have got a new mic and should not have this issue moving forward. Sorry again, and thanks y'all. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
This is the story of West, Jim West, Desperado. He's a rough rider and you don't want nada. This movie is super horny. Featuring Will Smith, Kevin Kline, Salma Hayek, Kenneth Branagh, and of course, M. Emmett Walsh. Sorry about the bad audio in the previous episode. But good knows - we've fixed it! We also have a lot more stickers, so if you want one, write to us at throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Just your normal movie about a guy who gets a kid and also a dog but he's a mailman who hates dogs and the dog is a police agent oh and the mailman was abandoned as a baby in a mail box. Anyway, starring David Arquette and Michael Clark Duncan. Get your stickers: throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
The boys really take a journey with this one, all the down south, to the city of gold. Join us as we go all the way back to 2000 to take a look at "The Road to El Dorado" featuring Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, Rosie Perez, and the musical styling of Sir Elton John. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Summer break is over, losers. We finally got to it, and we're taking a look at 2002's "The Master of Disguise" (yes, we're breaking our 'no post-9/11 movies rule) Starring Dana Carvey, Jennifer Esposito, and Data from Star Trek. In this movie, Pistachio Disguisey (Carvey) learns he has the ability to disguise as anyone and anything and needs to use these new powers to save his father. But, let's be real, this is just Dana Carvey doing a bunch of impressions, loosely tired together with a tired plot. Yes, there's racism. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
This week, the boys get CANCELLED. I am so, so sorry. Starring Richard Dreyfuss, Jenna Elfman, Lily Tomlin, and Natasha Lyonne. I really, really don't want to tell you what the plot is. Let's keep this one on the down low. But I will say this episode includes a history Throwback Theater First!
The boys take a look at 1998's "A Simple Wish" starring Martin Short, Kathleen Turner, and Mara Wilson. This movie is so bland that I felt the only way to really represent it was to make the blandest description. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
I'm tired and lazy so here's the first few paragraphs of the movie from Wikipedia. Baby Geniuses is a 1999 American family comedy film directed by Bob Clark and written by Clark and Greg Michael, from a story by Clark, Steven Paul, Francisca Matos, and Robert Grasmere. It stars Kathleen Turner, Christopher Lloyd, Kim Cattrall, Peter MacNicol, and Ruby Dee. The film has the distinction of being the first full-length feature to use computer-generated imagery for the synthesis of human visual speech. 2D warping techniques were used to digitally animate the mouth viseme shapes of the babies which were originally shot with their mouths closed. The viseme shapes were sampled from syllables uttered by the babies on the set. Baby Geniuses was almost universally panned by critics, who lambasted its acting, humor, special effects, writing, and directing, but it grossed $36.5 million worldwide against a production budget of $12 million. In 2004, it was followed by a sequel, Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, which was a box office bomb, and received even worse critical reviews, receiving a nomination for Worst Picture at the 25th Golden Raspberry Awards. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Here come the Men in White! Join us for this forgotten National Lampoon made for TV movie, a supposed parody of "Men in Black" but really more a parody of Independence Day and Dr. Strangelove? Is it so bad it's good or just simply bad? I guess it depends which one of us you ask. Write to us at Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com and we'll give you a "Jerk Me Off and Meet Me On The Moon" sticker cuz we know you love that Carrot Top movie.

Write to us if you want a sticker.
We're back, and this one is not a dinosaur's tale. This week we take a look at a local, Pittsburgh film, "Inspector Gadget" starring Matthew Broderick, Rupert Everett, Andy Dick, and Michelle Trachtenberg. In this film, we get to see all the beautiful sights of Pittsburgh as our hero hoses down his love interest with 5 gallons of toothpaste from his sleeve. That's probably not the official description that you'd read on the back cover, but it should be. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
2023 Season Finale! Thank you all for listening, and thank you all for being patient with us this past month. Please write to us at throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com and let us know what movies you'd like us to review in 2024! Thanks again, and we'll see you all in the future.
Merry Christmas! Let's talk about "Gremlins". It's about Christmas and gremlins and about how having gremlins during Christmas can really lead to a bad time. I think. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Hello Everyone. We decided to skip recording this week, but we'll be back for two more before our winter break. I hope you like this Rerun of one of our first Christmas movies - Christmas Every Day, recorded in the winter of 2016, way down in a dirty basement on the west end. Thank you so much for listening this year. I hope you've had as much fun as we've had.
Let's get into the holiday season this year by sitting down and watching a classic, drinking some hot tea, and catching Covid-19. For reference, this is the 1974 made for TV classic, "The Year Without A Santa Claus" by Rankin/Bass, not the 2006 made for TV classic, "The Year Without A Santa Claus." Sorry about the poor "Zoom" quality audio. We tried our best. Much like the 2006 made for TV classic, "The Year With A Santa Claus." throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
There's nothing in the rules that says a dog can't be a podcast guest. In this episode, we take a look back at "Air Bud" the movie that made all my friends get golden retrievers, bowl cuts, and really into basketball. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Happy Thanksgiving! In this episode, we take a look a very sweet tale, mostly about death. Join Russell, Edgar, and Annie/Abigail as they journey for greener pastures to save their friend, who is dying. Oh and their whole village was gassed with poisonous gas and they're pretty sure that everyone is dead. No, this is not like "Watership Down", this is Hanna Barbara's last theatrical release. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
In this... "movie", Dexter learns that he saves the future, so he goes through a trip in time to see how cool he will one day become. Also starring... Mandark and Deedee. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Yinz like Jay Mohr? In this movie, he stars as both himself and a talking bird! Join us as we talk about "Paulie", the 90's premier talking bird movie. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll fly. Write to us at throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com and let us know what movies you want us to review. We may even send you a free sticker!
Hey there Squeakers, why don't come on down to our dog casino and raise the steaks? In this movie, Burt Reynolds plays Charlie, a city slicking street dog with a penchant for mischief. When Charlie gets killed, he goes to dog heaven, only to steal his life's stop watch and return to Earth, where he meets Anne-Marie, a little orphan girl who can talk to animals (who was also kidnapped by dogs??). Charlie has to learn to behave to earn his wings. Oh, and this movie is bonkers. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Happy Halloween! This year, we are opening up the gate to hell! ...and closing it with a love rocket? Join us as we watched this bizarre, "cult" horror movie where a group of kids accidentally open a gate to hell in the suburbans of 1980's American. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Ok. Think of an actor from the 90s. That person is in this movie. In this movie, The Faculty, directed by Robert Rodriguez, the faculty of a rough suburban high school get taken over by parasitic aliens, bent on taking over the world. It is up to Frodo and his team of hobbits I think to stop the alien invasion by snorting drugs. If you haven't seen this movie before, stop what you're doing and watch it. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Caww, caww! This week we watch Brandon Lee's "The Crow" in which Lee plays rock star, Eric Draven, who is resurrected from the grave one year after his death to avenge the death of himself and his girlfriend. Turn the lights off and listen to this one in the dark, we're going goth. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Oh, it's the great John Landis movie, An American Werewolf in... Paris? Sixteen years after the original, "An American Werewolf in London," we get this... thing. In this thing, Tom Everett Scott pays Andy, who meets a lady while bungee jumping from the Eiffel tower and instantly falls in love with her. But there's only one problem - she's a werewolf! And then he has to fight off some Nazi werewolves (not a joke). Also featuring the bass player of Filter and Fuel. Throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Ahh! Real Vampires! In this movie, Tony (Jonathan Lipnicki) moves to Scotland and discovers that vampires are real! But, good news, they're not all bad. In this episode, the guys sit down to talk about one of the best detective/cop meets dog movies, Turner and Hooch, staring Tom Hanks and a dog. In this movie, Tom Hanks is a detective and gets a dog. Hi-jinx (and crime?) ensue. T. Hanks for listening. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Buckle up. This may be our most contentious, controversial, and confusing episode of all time. In this episode, the guys review the first ever Nickleodeon movie, "Doom Runners." This movie is set in a post-apocalyptic, dystopian future, where "The Corporation" holds all the power. Two young children have to cross the desert in search for the New Eden. Starring Tim Curry and the kid from Jumanji. You're welcome. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Hia gang! How's the weather today? That's swell. In this episode, the boys take a look at the 1999 Brendan Fraser movie, "Blast From The Past" also starring Alicia Silverstone, Christopher Walken, Sissy Spacek, and Dave Foley. Brendan plays Adam, a very polite young man who has lived in a sweet underground bunker for the past 35 years. When his father (Walken) suffers some sort of vague medical emergency, Adam must go up to the surface and find help, supplies, and his Eve. Ugh. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Oh Shiiiiii...take mushrooms. The boys review Spy Kids! And then we just share stories about our childhood and other movies and I don't know. This episode is a bit all over the place. throwbacktheaterpodcast@gmail.com
Ahoy and Yo ho ho! This week, we're going back. Way back. And then we're getting stranded on an island. And building a big tree house. And fight pirates.
