Indie rock band Scorched Waves stopped by Fox Cities Core on WCZR Code Zero Radio for an in-depth interview during Mile of Music 13 in Appleton, WI! The Stevens Point, Wisconsin group — Tyler Armstrong (guitar), Finn Vaughn (bass), Tiernan Brinkman (lead vocals), and Jaron Chick (keys), with drummer Damien Kessler holding down the road — sat down to talk band history, songwriting, touring stories, and what's next for Scorched Waves. In this interview, Scorched Waves breaks down their evolution from a high school garage band into an energetic live act — from their earliest EP recorded in a bedroom, to their debut album "Televised Paradise," to 2024's "With a Smile," and the more melodic, dynamic direction they're taking on new music like "Sinners" and "Things Will Be Fine." They also dig into their collaborative songwriting process, their weekly practice routine (every Sunday since 2019!), wild tour stories from Denver to Nashville, an unexpected shoutout from actor Danny Trejo, and their love for Wisconsin's local music scene, including Wild Adriatic's influence on their sound.Whether you caught Scorched Waves at Mile of Music, Paper Fest, or Crazy Todd's house show, this Fox Cities Core interview gives you the full story behind the band and a look at where they're headed next.Follow Scorched Waves:Find them on all social media @scorchedwavesMore Fox Cities Core:Fox Cities Core is your source for interviews, venue spotlights, and show previews from the Fox Cities and Wisconsin regional live music scene, brought to you by WCZR Code Zero Radio.CHAPTERS:00:00 Scorched Waves Interview Begins – Fox Cities Core Welcome00:31 Scorched Waves & Their Fox Valley Roots02:29 Meet the Band – Tyler, Finn, Tiernan & Jaron02:55 Scorched Waves Origin Story – How the Band Started (2017-2019)03:30 From High School Emo Band to Indie Rock05:59 Where the Name "Scorched Waves" Came From07:37 Weekly Practice Since 2019 – Their Work Ethic10:52 Inside Scorched Waves' Songwriting Process14:23 Debut Album "Televised Paradise" & Recording During COVID17:19 "With a Smile" (2024) – A More Mature Sound19:33 New Singles & Plans for a Bigger Album Project20:46 Evolving Sound – Dance Rock, Melody & "Sinners"27:45 Paper Fest Story – Choking Mid-Set30:18 Scorched Waves Returns to Mile of Music33:58 Life on Tour – Sticky Vans & Small Towns, Big Energy36:07 Dedicated Fans & Unexpected Road Trip Stories39:56 The Danny Trejo Connection41:14 Crazy Todd's House Show & the Great Bee Incident43:20 Opening for Wheatus, High Fade & Bigger Artists45:18 Goals for Scorched Waves – First Avenue & Beyond46:48 Upcoming Shows: Riverside & Appleton Beer Factory48:43 Final Words from Scorched Waves#ScorchedWaves #MileofMusic #FoxCitiesCore #CodeZeroRadio #AppletonWI #IndieRock #WisconsinMusic #LiveMusicInterview #FoxValley #IndieBand #Mile13
Today we start with the revelation that Nikki Glaser did not send Chad $500 for his special. Shocking I know! Cardiff did some great investigating and proved that once again Chad has made up a lie that wouldn't have made him look good even if it were true. Artie Fletcher's standup set is getting more and more bizarre. Crowd work for your DVD special isn't a good idea but local references to cater to the audience in front of you might be even worse. KC Day was a good sport putting together the Trek Off for Vinnie Paulino's consequence and he made a heart warming tribute song for us. Jerry Banfield made every mistake possible with the love of his life and he's finally ready to talk about where it all went wrong. Unfortunately he learned to stop giving us all of the details on his vlog. Good takeaway but not good for WATP. Kevin Brennan did one of the craziest things I've ever seen - he watched Adam Busch acting on a sitcom with Jon Lovitz, Danny Trejo, Cheri Oteri, etc. and decided that it proves Adam didn't get paid and that he's a failed actor. Bill Burr had Julian Casablancas, the lead singer from the Strokes on his show and he couldn't be been less prepared. It's awkward and embarrassing. Opie had Tony P cohost with him on Monday morning and shuts down any chance Tony had to promote his comedy. When Ron joins on Tuesday he tries once again to hit the goal and the reason he needs $100 this time is insane! Megan and Annie join us for a round of “Is It Gay?” and “Opie or Burr.” We get caught up on Spotify comments, reviews, and your voicemails. Turns out actor Danny Trejo is old enough to have served time with Charles Manson, some drummer on Instagram mashed up Journey and Celine Dion and the result is way better than you'd expect, the "4-20" may make driving more comfortable, there's also a new product that could help cool down your cabin, and a Little League president got busted being a real sleazeball! Speaking of people deserving your disdain, Dave hit the phones to hear you narc on your neighbor! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Congratulations are officially in order... because Lern somehow found extra hours in the day that the rest of us definitely don't have. She's now pulling double duty between St. Louis and Chicago, finishing one radio show, sprinting to her car, driving five hours north, hosting another show until midnight, and somehow making it back to the studio before the next morning. At this point we're convinced she's either invented teleportation or secretly runs on nothing but gas station coffee and spite. The gang celebrates the new opportunity while immediately roasting her for accidentally becoming "Chicago's newest native" overnight. Then things take the sharpest left turn imaginable.A simple conversation about Skid Row turns into what may be the most passionate legal defense of a fictional character ever attempted on morning radio. Did Ricky from "18 and Life" actually receive a fair sentence? Did his lawyer completely fail him? Could manslaughter have knocked years off his sentence? Before long, the crew is pitching an entire sequel where Ricky is finally released decades later, discovers smartphones, struggles with modern life, and tries to reintegrate into society. Sebastian Bach... if you're listening... we've basically written your next album.Of course, that's only the beginning. The gang dives into rock history, legendary concerts, Sebastian Bach's incredible hair, Quiet Riot, Great White, classic metal memories, and why moms somehow approved of Skid Row while other bands got thrown straight into the trash.Later, the crew celebrates Missouri's connection to sliced bread, debates whether "best thing since sliced bread" replaced an even older saying, revisits classic pop culture moments, and rolls through another packed edition of Crap on Celebrities featuring Metallica's emotional Ozzy tribute, Ella Langley's historic chart run, SZA opening up about her autism diagnosis, Whoopi Goldberg getting stranded by a volcano, Danny Trejo's unbelievable Charles Manson story, and the future of AI actors in Hollywood. Then things get wonderfully nostalgic as everyone argues over which movies every younger generation absolutely has to watch. From action classics to sci-fi masterpieces to childhood favorites, expect plenty of passionate disagreements and a few films that definitely deserved more love than they got. Finally, the show wraps exactly the way you'd expect... with Crappy Birthdays, some hilariously questionable movie titles, and a game of Real or Fake Fireworks using the bizarre names found on leftover Fourth of July fireworks. Because nothing says responsible broadcasting quite like trying to determine whether "Exploding Mega Whatever" is an actual consumer product. It's another completely unpredictable comedy podcast packed with music nostalgia, pop culture commentary, ridiculous hypotheticals, listener laughs, celebrity updates, and the kind of conversations that only happen when nobody in the room thinks, "Maybe we should move on."Whether you're here for the rock stories, the celebrity gossip, the debates over old movies, or simply to hear adults spend entirely too much time defending a fictional prison sentence from a 1980s song, this comedy podcast delivers exactly the kind of daily chaos you'd expect from The Rizzuto Show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In Episode 245 of The Black Lincoln Collective Comedy Podcast, the show opens with shame, confusion, and a quick debate over whether this is actually Episode 245 or 246. Parker declares the episode “the best show” in a deeply suspicious presidential voice, announces the show now has 7% more freedom, and introduces Fred with a description involving a deep squat that nobody needed but everyone now has to live with. That somehow leads into Fred's heroic tale of home maintenance. After a cheap plastic drain snake broke off in his bathtub, Fred did what any responsible adult would do: ignored it for six months while standing in ankle-deep shower water. Eventually, he pulled out a hair clog so monstrous it gets compared to a New York rat, solving in two minutes what he had dreaded for half a year. Personal growth? Maybe. Plumbing horror? Definitely. The episode then shifts into weird requests from kids and the strange world of modern collectibles. The guys talk about trendy dumpling toys, fake rare collectibles, YouTube-fueled toy hype, and the moral gray area of “slightly opening” packages in the store to find the gold one. From there, it becomes a full-on card-collecting rant, with Pokemon cards, One Piece cards, scalpers, damaged packs, adult resellers, and the painful reality that grown men are fighting children for cardboard. Naturally, the crew lands on favorite Pokemon. Parker picks Cubone because of the deeply tragic backstory, Fred goes with Jigglypuff because he is emotionally lighter than Parker, and Allan chooses “the yellow one,” which is either Pikachu or the entire marketing department at Nintendo doing its job. The back half of the episode dives into celebrity contract riders and weird Hollywood clauses. Fred and Parker turn it into a guessing game, covering Dwayne Johnson's alleged no-losing-fights rule, Danny Trejo's commitment to making sure criminal characters face consequences, and Sarah Jessica Parker's wardrobe clause. It's pop culture, nostalgia, celebrity nonsense, and three grown men asking the hard questions nobody asked them to answer. #blcpodcast #podcastingforthepeople #funny #podcast #greenvillesc #scpodcast #yeahthatgreenville Listen at: https://americasfavoritepodcast.com Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blcpodcast/ Check us out on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/blcpodcast/ Buy Fred and Allan Beer: https://www.patreon.com/blcworld

Danny Trejo holds the record for most on-screen deaths by an actor. His go-to role is the bad guy – the baddest guy. The guy you do not mess with. And for the first 25 years of his life, he was that guy for real. He led a life of violence and drugs that landed him in just about every hardcore prison in California, including Folsom and San Quentin. On the inside, he ran the gym, the drugs, and protection rackets. And then one day, the tables turned and Danny Trejo was the one who needed protection. After the dust settled on a bloody prison riot, Trejo found himself staring down the death penalty. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Show Notes Episode 527: When You're Here, You're Family This week Host Dave Bledsoe was kicked out of Sunrise of Mountain Lakes in Parsippany New Jersey for recruiting the old ladies to join his “Hippie Sex Cult”. (Again) On the show this week introduce the man mostly responsible for destroying the feel good vibe of the 1960s: Charles Manson. Along the way we discover Dave's crippling fear of commitment is rooted in reality. Then we dive right into the backstory of No Name Maddox. (You know him better as “Charlie”) We meet his incredibly bad mother, follow Charlie in and out of “reform” schools that seemed not about “reforming” kids at all. We chill with Charlie's mentors in prison, from Danny Trejo to “Creepy” Karpus. From there we walk the streets of Haight Ashbury with Charlie as he quickly realized this Summer of Love thing will work for him! Then we head to Hollywood for the frankly astonishing story of how a tiny career criminal mixed and mingled with the glitteratti of Tinsel Town. (He knew Grandpa Munster!) Finally, we see how Charlie didn't become a rock star so he became the leader of a murder cult. Our Sponsor this week is Spahn Movie Ranch Family Fun Tours, fun for ALL kinds of families. We open with CBS news reporting local crime and close with the Constellations, who are family. LISTEN WITHOUT ADS ON PATREON for 25 cents a day www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast Episode Summary Dave opens this week's Dopey Greatest Hits by explaining the Patreon poll that lets listeners choose classic replay episodes. After Jason Ricci lost a last-minute battle to Dr. Gabor Maté the previous week, this week's theme becomes “kids of famous people,” featuring guests like Jack Osbourne, Mackenzie Phillips, Dwayne Betts, and ultimately the winner: Gilbert Trejo, son of actor Danny Trejo. Dave reads Spotify and Patreon comments reacting to the Jason Ricci replay, including discussions about bipolar disorder, darkness, spirituality, demonology, and the Amanda de Cadenet backlash episode. Tommy from Long Island then calls in with a crack-smoking Dopey story involving a lost $20 bag hidden underneath the center console of a late-90s Toyota Corolla. Dave also reads a brutally honest listener email criticizing the early days of Dopey for chewing into microphones, interruptions, phone ringing, and lack of structure — which Dave both defends and reflects on emotionally. The episode then shifts into a deep and emotional conversation with filmmaker and recovering heroin addict Gilbert Trejo. Gilbert talks about growing up in Venice Beach as Danny Trejo's son, being raised around AA meetings, childhood exposure to recovery culture, fighting, punk rock, skating, and eventually spiraling into heroin addiction. He shares horrifying overdose stories, including trying to revive his best friend while covered in blood, discusses his film From A Son, and reflects on the strange mixture of toughness, secrecy, masculinity, fear, and identity that shaped his addiction. Gilbert and Dave connect deeply over losing close friends to overdose, the mythology of junkie friendships, and the challenge of telling drug stories honestly without glorifying them. The conversation also covers heroin romance, Panic in Needle Park, Venice gang culture, punk shows, crack smoking, addiction genetics, hiding drug use from family, and the relief of eventually becoming comfortable in his own skin. It's one of the rawest and most thoughtful Dopey conversations about addiction, masculinity, survival, and recovery. ALL THAT AND MORE ON THIS NEW OLD EPISODE! Len Testa and Jim Hill sprint through a packed week of Disney and Universal news, from Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's Muppets makeover to the return of Walt Disney World's deluxe dining plan. Along the way, they dig into Universal's new day-of Express offering, answer listener questions about everything from BioReconstruct to Main Street nostalgia, and somehow still find room for pistachio-based trauma. In the main segment, Jim continues the fascinating story of Disney's ambitious "Live the Dream" concept for Disneyland's second gate, including the idea of building hotels directly on top of attractions. NEWS • Disney has officially brought back the deluxe dining plan for 2027, adding a higher-end option as the company looks for new ways to fill table-service restaurants. • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster reopens on May 26, 2026, with the Electric Mayhem taking over the ride and a set list that mixes classic rock with a few curveballs. • Celebrity cameos for the reimagined coaster include Awkwafina, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Wayne Brady, Travis Barker, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Trejo, Darren Criss, and Weird Al Yankovic. • A rumor out of Adventureland suggests that completing A Pirate's Adventure may once again unlock a Lightning Lane for Pirates of the Caribbean. • Universal Orlando has launched Universal Express Now, a smartphone-based, day-of skip-the-line option that sounds a bit like Lightning Lane's less patient cousin. FEATURE • Jim continues the history of Disneyland's "Live the Dream" project, a bold expansion concept tied to the resort's long-discussed second park. • This chapter explores Disney's growing realization that hotels were a license to print money, especially after the company began operating its own resorts. • The episode also connects that thinking to Anaheim's old "Disney cone" zoning rules, which helped protect Disneyland's sightlines from looming high-rises. • Most intriguingly, Jim tees up the wildest part of the story: a version of Disneyland's future where hotels would have been built directly above attractions. In honor of Alcohol Awareness Month, we're revisiting a very special episode from 2023 with the one-and-only Danny Trejo. Danny Trejo (actor, restaurauteur, & author) joins us in-studio to discuss how the culture he was raised in contributed to his early drug and alcohol use, the evolution of his relationship with a higher power from one of fear to one of love, and his transition from convict to actor/author/restaurateur. He opens up about being conditioned as a child to use rage and violence to survive, what early sobriety taught him, and why he feels like he can reach troubled youth better than other adults. Danny explains what it was like to be incarcerated for the first time, his role as an “Inmate Social Catalyst” in prison, and why his parole board actually suggested he murder someone. Mayim and Danny consider the weaknesses of our prison system and the inhumanity of solitary confinement after Danny shares his heartbreaking experience being locked up “in the hole.” Danny reveals how his drug counseling skills led him to land acting roles, his experiences training movie stars in the art of prison boxing, his love of good food and the fascinating story of how he got into the restaurant business. He also considers the negative effects of toxic masculinity, his complex relationships with women, why his children are his vulnerable spot, his favorites of his iconic acting roles, and his status as a Los Angeles icon.
