That's why we're delighted to present to you our latest guest: Ali Curtis.Similar to us, Ali spent the formative years of his life at Duke University from 1997 to 2000. Following Duke he went on to make 65 appearances in the MLS over a span of 3 years with Tampa Bay Mutiny, D.C. United, and Dallas Burn. Se fue Ali Curtis de Red Bulls como se esperaba, pero vuelven Rodney Wallace y Fredy Montero a la MLS. También analizamos la llegada de Maxi Moralez y hacemos una previa de Concachampions.
On Monday, the guys talked Homegrown players and MLS academies. This time around, they’re tackling star power, the big names who garner Designated Player contracts as well as the increasing crew of TAM players raising the level of the league. Fredy Montero is certainly a star, and Ben ‘The Research’ Baer joins to break down the stats behind the Whitecaps much-needed forward signing. Plus, Red Bulls banter after the club parts ways with Ali Curtis, and intel on NYCFC’s new DP. Alexi Lalas knows a thing or two about Designated Players. Now coming live and direct to your living room on Fox Sports, Lalas was LA Galaxy GM when they signed none other than David Beckham. How’d that deal go down? How did it change MLS? What is it’s legacy? What’s the state of star power in the league today? You’ll want to hear what Lalas has to say. In the mailbag, the Union are looking for a Chief Tattoo Officer, Brad Evans is stoking rivalry flames in Cascadia, more MLS bucket lists and an ode to MLS LIVE in which one listener calls Andrew a big fat liar.
First it was Dax McCarty being traded to the Chicago Fire. Now, it’s Ali Curtis and the New York Red Bulls “mutually” agreeing to part ways. Is there going to be any more movement of big names out of the Red Bulls’ camp? Well, no time to dwell on those no longer with the team we suppose. The Red Bulls have already had preseason matches against New York City FC, the New England Revolution, the Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake, and FC Tucson, but it’s time for the first official match of 2017. The Red Bulls, in less than a week's time, will host the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first leg of their Quarterfinal matchup in the CONCACAF Champions League. Can the Red Bulls do something they couldn’t do last year and advance in a knockout tournament? The transfer window exploded on Monday and the guys break it all down. Andrew is on the injured reserve list, so David and Matt carry the load. What were their takeaways from U.S. Soccer’s rainy victory vs. Iceland? It starts with the new and improved Jozy Altidore, but there is plenty more to unpack. Plus, what to make of the Krisztian Nemeth transfer, an ever-evolving LA Galaxy squad that now reportedly features Nigel De Jong, and two new Designated Player signings in their prime. Of course, the guys wouldn’t pass up the chance to chat with Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis, who discusses Matt Miazga’s move to Chelsea and the big picture as it pertains to MLS. How will the Miazga transfer money be used? How is TAM affecting the league? Plus, how might the sale of young prospects affect the talent pool as a whole? In the mailbag, the guys assemble MLS 4-v-4 squads, name Dom Leroux's (or Sydney Dwyer's) future World Cup winner, and shine a spotlight on US and Borussia Dortmund phenom Christian Pulisic.
