1: Well, this is probably the best starting 11 (minus maybe Franco Escobar) that we are going to be able to field. We looked up for it. We had a good amount of possession and we’re creating the opportunities for opportunities but we still can’t get much in the way of SOG. It wasn’t until the 31st minute that we had a SOG and that came from a set piece. It was until about the 40th that we had something from the run of play. I can’t really explain why there’s such a lack of shots. We have ample talent on the field. It’s gotta be more productive. A handful of shots per game I don’t think is gonna be good enough to get us above the playoff line.  2: Damm had plenty of time and space to work with tonight.  It felt very similar to how DC played us last time. They gave the wing a wide berth and i think in the first half we did a decent job of exploiting that space. But still that final ball is missing.  3: Guzan has been up and down all season. I don’t have an issue with his shot stopping ability but he’s continuing to make very questionable decisions with his distribution. I’m not talking about miss hit balls, I’m talking conscious decisions he’s making where I find myself in front of my TV screaming “Why would you play it out there???” Also, I think he’s gotta save that first goal.  4: Well, what are we gonna do when Gresselmania goes running wild on us brother?  That’s a really soft goal to give away at the end of the match and sadly that probably does it for the season. We now basically need to win out and get some help. The second goal, is a little more expected because you’re in full on desperation mode and taking every risk you can.  5: I feel like a broken record here but it’s consistent with us. We look ok. Attack looks ok. The opportunities are there. We have no final product. If we only ask a small handful questions of a quality keeper like Bill Hamid, he’s gonna have answers. Yes our goal was beautiful but we can’t win enough games off rare moments of brilliance like that. Even if we had got the result today it’s still not good enough going forward.

COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- With the LA Galaxy back at full training and the tournament in Orlando ready for its debut in July, things almost feel normal. But in a world filled with uncertainty, how the teams in MLS weather a global pandemic is anyone's guess. On today's show, your hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter, are discussing the many details that are missing around MLS and the Galaxy. Josh and Kevin will start with a discussion on scheduling as the Galaxy's website now shows only the two games they previously played. Obviously, this is gearing up toward a schedule release for the tournament. But it's also pointing toward a more significant schedule release for a regular season that is supposed to take shape after the August 11th Championship Match in the "MLS is Back" tournament. But the guys talk about how there is no guarantee any games will take place, and with more rises in COVID-19 cases around the US, how a regular-season could still be in doubt. And just because they voted to have the tournament, doesn't mean that MLS players will be happy about it. As DC United's Bill Hamid blasts the League for keeping them in "jail," while in Orlando, he's hitting a nerve that is common in pro sports. Even the NBA seems to be halting its progression towards restarting with player concerns about being quarantined for weeks on end. But Josh and Kevin really dig into a questionable transfer market and why MLS has the ability to be a world player come this summer and why each team's ability to grow will depend on their ownership. We've got a great show lined up for you, and we're glad you're safe and healthy enough to listen!

Atlanta United had a chance to clinch a playoff berth while jumping back into the lead for the Supporters’ Shield. Instead, it delivered one of its less convincing away performances of the season in a 3-1 loss to D.C. United. It wasn’t as bad as the 4-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo to open the season, but for a club that hoped to get a foothold against the New York Red Bulls in the standings, it was a poor time to come away empty handed. Atlanta looked sloppy in the early going with some mistimed passes and poor pursuit of the ball, which might have been foreshadowing for how the remainder of the night would go. As the match went on, it began to settle in a little and look for chances in the box, getting its best chance in the 24th minute as Bill Hamid misjudged a ball that deflected off Ezequiel Barco and off the post. But D.C. United struck first in the 29th courtesy of Lucho Acosta, who continued his strong recent form by getting behind the defense and firing it past Brad Guzan to make it 1-0. Later, a goal line clearance was all that came between D.C. and a 2-0 lead as Atlanta’s back line continued to struggle in front of a frustrated Guzan. In the 40th minute, Atlanta gained a equalizer from an unlikely source. Jeff Larentowicz’s perfect header off a corner kick sailed behind Hamid to knot it at 1. In the 52nd minute, Paul Arriola won a penalty as Barco was ruled to have taken him down in the box, and Wayne Rooney calmly converted to make it 2-1. D.C. Greetings once again, MLS fans! Welcome back to the show. This week we dive right in to recapping all the Week 24 action around the MLS. Columbus and Sporting KC get back to winning, Vancouver surprises Portland, and the stars were out for DC United: Luciano Acosta nets a hat-trick and Wayne Rooney makes the play of the week. The hosts dive into the state of DC United soccer, noting outstanding performances so far by Wayne Rooney, the rising Luciano Acosta, and the impending goalkeeper switch now that Bill Hamid is back in the capital on loan from FC Midtjylland. Current goalkeeper Ousted, who interestingly is from Denmark, needs to improve his form or he'll be ousted from his position. As the show wraps up, the hosts discuss the Supports' Shield race, and not surprising to everyone is that Atlanta United is the current favorite. However, the hosts discuss what happened to their original pick, SKC, whether a club from the Western Conference can claim the shield. Thanks for listening! Welcome back to SOP Soccer! This week, we recap the scores around the league, noting the upset by San Jose (at FC Dallas), Toronto FC drawing Atlanta United (at Atlanta!), and Sporting KC picking up 3 crucial points in a physical game with the Houston Dynamo. We recap the MLS All-Star game vs. Juventus and discuss whether the games against big-name, international clubs still has its appeal. Is it all about the money or all about the game? Finally, the hosts discuss the latest transfer moves and rumors: -Christian Ramirez to LAFC. The expansion team adds more firepower, and why the trade is good for Minnesota United (despite the fans losing a favorite). Is LAFC going for it now? -Bill Hamid back to DC United? Speculation is that he wants to better compete for the USMNT job. Does he have a chance to supplant Bono or Steffen? -Wil Trapp to Blackburn Rovers? Pay us, says Columbus Crew! Coach Gregg Berhalter sends a message that they value their players much higher than their suitors. Should they?

Bilal (Bill) Hamid is a professional soccer player born and raised in the Washington Metropolitan Area. He is a star goalkeeper for the United States Men's National Team and a recent addition to Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland. Signing his first professional contract at the age of 18, Bill worked his way up from DC United's youth academy to cement a place in MLS history as an all-time legend, winning the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award in 2014. While soccer has been a constant in Bill's life since he was 5 years old, he manages to stay balanced by focusing on two other factors that define him - faith and family. Bill is a proud Muslim who prays before every match and does his best to fast during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. He's also very proud of his Sierra-Leonean roots. He shares stories of his experience as a first-generation American growing up in a strict immigrant household, where staying connected to his roots was of the utmost importance. At 27 years old, it seems like Bill has everything figured out. He has an unrelenting commitment to leave a legacy of greatness in this world, and it can be felt with every word he speaks. Filibuster is feeling nostalgic today, and for obvious reasons. Jason, Ben, and Adam spend much of the episode talking about the send-off for RFK Stadium and less about the game between D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls. We start with the Legends Game that happened before the MLS watch, and talk with warmth and fondness about the players who were there. We also discuss the sneaky competition between Dwayne De Rosario and Louis Crayton in that game. We read some of your emails about your RFK memories, and also discuss how much this building has meant over the years. In the second segment, we talk a little bit about the game and how much we enjoyed that goal, set up by Russell Canouse and Zoltan Stieber, and finished by Luciano Acosta and Paul Arriola. We dive in specifically on Canouse before talking about the departure of Bill Hamid and the team's rebuild for next year. Give it a listen!

So it turns out that cheaters actually DO prosper. At least in MLS under PRO referees they do. Vancouver Whitecaps' 1-0 loss to D.C. United, thanks to a dodgy winning penalty call, is a hard one to take. At least we now know what the D.C. aspect of the team stands for. But it wasn't all just down to that one call. The 'Caps did enough to win the game and their finishing, good goalkeeping, and the woodwork, all conspired to prevent that from happening. We invite on Duncan Fletcher from The Vocal Minority to talk about Toronto FC. We talk about their three straight draws, and how, despite their stars, they are a defense first team this year. We ask Duncan about the non-American view of Jozy Altidore and try and figure out which goalkeeper will start against United this weekend. We finish by talking about Jonathan Osorio and a #10, trying to puzzle out what formation TFC will deploy, and ask why TFC are so bad when they are playing up a man. Give it a listen!

It is our 200th episode! Jason, Ben, and Adam are here to bring you the 200th installment of Filibuster by talking about D.C. United's miraculous 2-2 draw against the New York Red Bulls. We talk about the comeback and the wing play of Lloyd Sam, Patrick Nyarko, and Lamar Neagle, before breaking down how the central midfield did without Luciano Acosta and raving about how much of a weapon Steve Birnbaum has become on set pieces. After the break, we talk about D.C. United's upcoming game against the Chicago Fire. We ask what's been going on with them since we last met, and how they will have David Accam back after his flirtation with going to France. Finally, we break down the three ways they attack and point you back to our previous episode on the Fire if you want to hear us gameplan them. Finally, we bust open a 200th episode Twitterbox! We answer questions about how long Luciano Acosta will be around, our recommendations on where to sit if you come up to RFK for a game. We compare Jalen Robinson and Kofi Opare, and talk about some D.C. United legends that are on the same level as Andrea Mancini. We give odds on whether or not FC Dallas will win the treble, answer whether or not there is something wrong with Bill Hamid, talk about the upcoming expansion draft, and estimate how many points D.C. United will need to be above the red line at the end of the season. Give it a listen!

With a game this Wednesday, D.C. United is back on their regular Tuesday to help you get all the info you need. Jason, Ben, and Adam start by reviewing D.C. United's 1-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City, and start with the wonderfulness that was Alhaji Kamara's goal. We ask whether the team we saw in Philadelphia and Kansas City is true D.C. United right now, and we show some love to the return of Bill Hamid. We end the first segment by talking about Luciano Acosta and Fabian Espindola and what the latter has to do to fit in the with the rest of the team. We transition quckily into the Copa America Centenario, which starts this weekend. We ask whether or not the United States are going to be OK and talk about, of course, all of the players that Jurgen is playing out of position. We get out of the segment before we get too mad at Jurgen, but we truly do want him to confound us and do well at the Copa. Finally, we bring on Dave Clark from Sounder at Heart to preview United's midweek matchup with the Seattle Sounders. We ask what is going on with the Sounders attack as well as about Brad Evans and the stingy defense. We also ask about Andrea Ivanschitz, we have to ask about Jordan Morris, and wonder if there will be any rotation for this East Coast trip. We end by asking about some veterans on the team, Osvaldo Alonso and Herculez Gomez, before exploring whether or not Sigi Schmid is on the hot seat and how Dave would gameplan Seattle for United. Give it a listen!

All good things must come to an end, and that includes D.C. United's 2015 season. Adam, Jason, and Ben are here to be your Virgil as we start the journey through the Divine Comedy that is the offseason. But first, we have one last D.C. United game about which to talk: we ask whether this was the right lineup for the game between United and the New York Red Bulls, whether Olsen could have or should have changed his system, and whether or not injuries should be a talking point. We also ask whether we should be talking about firing Ben Olsen, talk about Bob Bradley as an MLS coach, and the piteous state of D.C. United's scouting network. We then move on to talk about the upcoming qualifiers for World Cup 2018. We ask whether Bill Hamid will start, talk about the first-timers on the roster and specifically Darlington Nagbe. We also discuss who should start on the forward line and could Jurgen Klinsmann get fired in any scenario. Finally, we open up the Twitterbox to some D.C. United questions. We talk about whether Kofi Opare and Steve Birnbaum will force Bobby Boswell to the bench, whether Chris Pontius and Fabian Espindola will be back next year, wonder what do the teams left have that United doesn't, and ponder a 3-5-2 for DCU. This show contains 100% of your recommended daily value of soccer, so give it a listen!

Despite technology trying it's hardest, Adam, Jason, and Ben are back for another episode of Filibuster! We talk about the difference between D.C. United versus the New England Revolution and D.C. United versus the New York Red Bulls, as well as talk about the bad refereeing that almost led to Markus Halsti getting seriously injured. We then have to carry on without Adam and talk about how Pontius' injury affected the team, the second leg of D.C. United versus the New York Red Bulls, and D.C. United's road woes. We finish this section by talking about how D.C. United has to try something different than this 442 since they don't have Davy Arnaud and it hasn't worked against the MetroStars, as well as lamenting Michael Farfan's injury. We finish by talking about the rest of the MLS Cup Playoffs and then talk about the finalists for the MLS Awards, including Bill Hamid! Give it a listen!

A Tuesday Filibuster for your listening pleasure! Adam, Jason, and Ben talk about D.C. United's historic 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact, and we have to start with Bill Hamid. We then ask whether or not we were happy with this game, despite the win, ask if anything changed when Conor Doyle came on the field for Nick DeLeon, and discuss what should be the forward pairing against New York City FC given what happened against Montreal. We then welcome on Rafael Noboa y Rivera from SB Nation's NYCFC site Hudson River Blue. We start by asking him about Tommy McNamara, who was cruelly stolen from D.C. United in the expansion draft. We ask him who has been the best player in light blue so far this year, the team's deficienies, how bad Mix Diskerud has been this year, and how Frank Lampard is the team's original sin. We close by asking him about the leaky back four. Give it a listen!

After six weeks, who's good and who's bad in MLS? Who knows, it's springtime and that means we're still figuring it all out! Andrew, David and Simon are back together, and they break down the weekend that was in MLS. First things first, the Rapids scored. And then they scored again. And again. And again. Plus, what's going on in Portland? What's up with the new goalkeeper in Philadelphia? And should Bill Hamid shoulder the blame for D.C. United's Atlantic Cup draw?Hamid won't have much time to dwell on it, of course, as he is one of 14 MLSers in USMNT camp for Wednesday's friendly against Mexico. Could William Yarbrough get time in goal after making his debut against Denmark? Perhaps, either way the young dual citizen will be pulled both ways as his country of birth takes on his national team. Yarbrough needs a nickname, help us out ETR faithful! In the mailbag, where would Jason Kreis and Jurgen Klinsmann fall in their own depth charts? And is this the year of the Canuck?
