What's up, dudes? Remember GI Joe? This real American hero was developed by Stan Weston and licensed and produced by Hasbro in 1963. They even coined the phrase “action figure” to help market the toys to boys. In 1966, the British toy company Palitoy licensed GI Joe and created their version: Action Man. Action Man was primarily developed with British military themes in mind. To set themselves apart, Palitoy even developed flocked hair and gripping hands, though of course they eventually crossed over to the GI Joe line. Consequently, time kills most toy lines, and sales dwindled until GI Joe relaunched itself in 1982 with 3 ¾ inch figures to compete with Kenner's Star Wars figures. To keep up, Palitoy rebranded Action Man as Action Force, a mixture of international soldiers and specialists from Britain, Germany, Australia, and, of course, America. In ‘83 they were given file cards and character profiles and even had their own comic strip, Battle Action Force! Action Force battled the terrorist organization Red Shadows led by Baron Ironblood. Meanwhile, the Action Force toyline branched out into video games, audio stories on cassette tapes, stationery, and even toiletries. In ‘85, however, Alfred Pallett passed away, and Hasbro bought out Palitoy, including their factory, copyrights, and molds. Basically they just produced GI Joe figures under the Action Force name. In fact, Action Force even began fighting Cobra rather than Red Shadows. Even the cartoon was retitled and re-dubbed as Action Force with its own theme song! In ‘86, the Battle Action Force comic strip was canceled, and Marvel UK began publishing a weekly comic in ‘87. Action Force #43 from Dec 26, 1987 includes a Christmas story entitled "Silent Night." The snow may be deep and crisp and even inside the Norwegian arctic circle, but the Christmas celebrations turn a little sour for Footloose and Frostbite when a squad of Cobra snow serpents come visiting — and they aren't there for a kiss under the mistletoe! Explosions? Check. Harsh weather condition battles? Got 'em. Plum pudding MREs? Definitely! So grab your laser rifles, hop on your Snow Cat, and defeat Cobra with this episode!Give us a buzz!

Josh Sigurdson reports on the news left almost entirely uncovered regarding Cullen McDonald, a Canadian man facing prison time for protesting in 2021 against Covid vaccine mandates. While most people's charges in Canada were stayed or thrown out, they're using Cullen McDonald's case as a "test case" to see how far they can go with legal precedent. And it certainly sets new legal precedent that could affect everyone watching this. McDonald was originally hit with a public nuisance charge. After a judge found McDonald "NOT GUILTY" in January, the Crown court appealed the not guilty charge and this time, the judge wasn't so forgiving. They're going through with it and he could face prison time over this lack of an infraction. It essentially declares peaceful protesting illegal. While some can get away with burning down churches and police stations, people like Cullen are facing persecution for simply gathering peacefully against forced injections. If they get away with this charge and find him guilty and sentence him, it's over for Canada. You can bet this case will be used against others in the future who may peacefully protest 15 Minute City restrictions, food rations, war, etc. What YOU can do is help support him by either writing to the emails with the letter attached, linked above or you can join him in person at his appeal on October 11th at 10am, at 102 East Main Street, Welland, Ontario. “Film-maker and previous award-winner Erika Lust hosted a talk and Q&A event at the awards, as she also had several films nominated this year. Lust sees her work in opposition to that of the mainstream, and wants to offer other ways of filming sex. Too often the films offer a weak setting and storyline before focussing on the sex, and one kind of sex at that. “Mainstream porn lacks creativity and a narrative. They only care about sets of genitals banging together as the woman enjoys fake pleasure until they get their money shot. The man enjoying his orgasm with no thought to the woman's pleasure at all. The performers are cloned stereotypes, everybody abiding to the same standards. Body hair is seen as something undesirable, or God forbid if you're not thin or muscular like an Action Man. There are no interesting stories, relatable character or good sex. It's bad sex that's given porn a bad name.” Lust playfully stated in her TEDx Talk in Vienna that “I'm not trying to get women out of porn, I'm trying to get women into porn!” As a director herself, Lust wants more women in control of production, more female directors and writers in porn can help redress the sexual balance in the industry. Lust leads by example: “I want others to continue to be inspired by the work I do, I want to encourage other women to get into leading roles within the adult film industry, as directors, producers and scriptwriter. That way we can get more of the porn we want out there and express our perspective, our desires and our pleasure.” The argument is that with more women in porn, porn becomes more equal, and more feminist naturally. By engaging women in the porn film industry, a female audience is more likely to follow. “I love working with (almost) all female team and having a real customised aspect to my filmmaking. It is key in allowing me to make exactly what I want and experiment with different themes, techniques and contexts.” Female pleasure is rarely explored within mainstream pornography, rather the women are there to be objectified or to service their male co-stars. Lust's work portrays both male and female pleasure. “I create an environment which satisfies the viewer with realistic interpretations of real fantasies. The performers look like and play characters that are like the guy or girl on the street, they are natural, individual and attractive in their own unique way. The sex is real, you can see the pleasure, the sweat, the touching and hear the sounds. The performers caress, enjoy and pleasure one another.” As for the audience, Lust does not discriminate. Her films do not specifically target a female audience, but anyone who wants to watch them. “I make my films with a feminist mind, and that means equality to all sexes,” Lust explains. “My films portray men and women as equals with consideration to everyone's pleasure, fantasies and desires.” A more realistic portrayal of sex engages an audience in a more profound and enjoyable way. The Feminist Porn Awards celebrates those taking steps to create erotica which mirrors the sex we like to have - that which acknowledges mutual pleasure. “Viewers can see themselves in my films. They feel like they could live out that scenario. That's what makes it more satisfying, erotic and fun!” "Mainstream porn lacks creativity and a narrative. They only care about sets of genitals banging together until they get their money shot - with no thought to the woman's pleasure at all" -Jenny Guerin By the way, the acting and the scripts in porn tend to be subpar. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

The French crime film is different from those of other countries for several reasons.  While some, certainly Jean Dellanoy's Soleil Des Voyeux (aka Action Man) draw elements from the German Krimi and the George Nader Jerry Cotton films and even the serial (particularly those of Feuillade, whose Fantomas and Les Vampires remain surprisingly gripping and modern in feel and approach), the overarching vibe is less that of contemporaneous American crime films or Italian poliziotteschi than it is, as you might expect from the nation that coined the term, the American film noir and gangster pictures of the late 30s and 1940s. And as with the idiosyncratic and often groundbreaking critics turned directors of the Nouvelle Vague, the French crime film less pays strict homage to than integrates the driving elements and visual aesthetic of American noir in a more contemporary sense, improving and updating them to something more suited and appealing to a modern audience: think much venerated names like Jean Pierre Melville, Rene Clement, Georges Lautner, Jean Paul Belmondo and Alain Delon. So join us as we discuss one of the most notable and influential genres of its type, the French Crime film, only here on Weird Scenes!
