Summary: It seems pretty easy to do this but we usually don't take enough time with new people we meet. I had on Ramon Basie, who works in HR outsourcing for small businesses. He brings a great perspective of a sales acumen and a caring sales personality to his sales approach. If you really want to learn what separates the good from great salespeople, it's that the great salespeople come across to their buyers as real. They create environments where clients trust them and where the know they care. We talked about soft skills of sales, little techniques to connect with new people you meet, and the simple message that sales is about caring. Listen to understand why that is and his approach with it. Key Takeaways by Time! 5:00 - key to everyone in sales. Can I help this person and if I can't, I'm talking to the wrong person. 6:15 Sitting on the same side and wrapping your arm around your client 14:20: Sooner you can share a real life story of you. the quicker connections build 15:21 - When people say How Are you, Dont just say fine 18:30 - Story of his grandma and what it taught him about sales. 37:47 - Caring for people in your day to day Connect with Ramon! https://www.linkedin.com/in/ramon-w-basie-a3236077/ (LinkedIN) Connect with Us! https://www.linkedin.com/company/53108426/admin/ (LinkedIN: ) https://stories-of-selling-human.captivate.fm/ (Website: )

In 1996, he co-founded Juniper Networks, growing the company to $4 billion in global sales and more than 10,000 employees in 100+ countries. In 2010, Scott and his wife Joanie launched 1440 Foundation, an organization committed to the cultivation of truly real and connected relationships, with self and others, as a basis for living well. The work of the foundation led Scott and Joanie to launch 1440 Multiversity, a 21st century learning destination in the California redwoods of Santa Cruz County. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN: What was it like to go through the dot.com bubble? What were the events that led up to Scott winning the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of The Year award? How did Silicon Valley Change over the years, from 1986 to when Scott left Juniper Networks in 2008? What is 1440 Multiversity? Last week I asked a rhetorical question: “If Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self’, how then do we continue to serve in these uncertain times, when we are all so intensely focused on preserving the Self?” Well. I found my answer when I interviewed my guests for Friday’s upcoming podcast. I do believe each of us will have to formulate our own answer. But the guests I interviewed will undoubtedly help you reach an answer that suits you, while at the same time possibly surprising you. I don’t know... all I ask is you listen when I finally post Episode 3. The structure is different from past episodes as I had to pivot like everyone else to accomplish getting this podcast wrapped. Segment 1: I interview my Stepfather, former City of Carrboro Alderman Hilliard Caldwell, and I also interview my Mom as my Stepfather has been recently diagnosed with dementia. And yet- he still resolves to go to every Rotary meeting. To serve. So there’s that to contemplate... Do I have an excuse to miss any meetings with him setting such an example? Not anymore! Segment 2: Interviews with 3 of the Dog Days Giveback Grant recipients; Mindy Elkan of MDE School, Shamichael Traylor of Loving Arms Cancer Outreach, and Lisa Hatch of East Cobb Robotics. They all depend upon support from the community to do the good works they do... and now since the community is fearful and money is the question mark in everyone’s minds- where and how do these organizations proceed from here? Segment 3: I interview Brock Cline, Business Performance Advisor of Insperity about the impact of the Cares and the FFCRA (Families First Corona Virus Response Act) on Business Owners. Sounds heady, but trust me, the information Brock shared was priceless and he communicated it brilliantly so even I could understand. If you are a business owner, you DEFINITELY need to listen to his segment. Whew! This is going to be one meaty podcast. Soooo... stay tuned! Airs Friday April 3rd!!
