What happens when Annie Wilkes ends up in Jerusalem's Lot? Not what you'd think. Death by ice cream scooper! Newel post impaling! The undead French! And somehow it's still one of the worst things we've watched. Get weekly bonus content on our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/kingmepod
Does this series pay off everything it's been setting up? Of course not. This week on King Me, it's one of the most boring things we've ever covered, CASTLE ROCK SEASON 1 PART 2. But we did have fun destroying this piece.
This week's episode is for the die hard King Me fans. The ones that like to hear Dan and Rob go off on every tangent. This week we're "discussing" the Hulu original series CASTLE ROCK (2018). It was a show marketed as sort of a Stephen King shared universe. What it turned out to be was a boring waste of time. This show is so boring, Rob took an edible before recording because he just wanted to feel something. Enjoy! This summer, The Losers' Club presented their first audio drama with Castle Rock Season 3, Episode 1. The story was originally presented in three parts spread out over a month and some change. Now, in the spirit of Halloween, we have uploaded the whole thing -- full dark, no stars, so to speak. So, grab a Nozz-A-La soda, maybe pop some popcorn, and enjoy the feature-length version of Castle Rock Season 3, Episode 1 -- the way we intended it to be heard.Production by Cat Blackard. Every story has an ending. Today, The Losers' Club returns with the third and final installment in their audio drama/parody Castle Rock Season 3, Episode 1. This fiery chapter finds Stephen King's deadliest villains bringing an all-out war to the rustic streets of his titular town. Rest assured, blood will be split, buildings will burn, and Cujo will bark yet again.Production by Cat Blackard. Edited by Kyle Orozovich. As promised, The Losers' Club returns with the second installment in their three-act audio drama/parody Castle Rock Season 3, Episode 1. This particular chapter sees our heroes and villains choose sides as the heat turns up across King's titular town — literally. Stream the second act now and stay tuned for its fiery conclusion on Friday, July 23rd.Production by Cat Blackard. Edited by Kyle Orozovich. One night as the Losers were asleep in the clubhouse they share in Derry, Maine, a mysterious knock came at the door. Upon opening it, they discovered not a person, but a bundle of decaying, handwritten pages. After transcribing them by candlelight, the Losers realized they were reading the teleplay for the lost first episode of Season 3 of Hulu's Castle Rock. Naturally, your humble hosts sought to bring the script to life in the best way they know how: By turning it into a podcast with no affiliation whatsoever to Hulu or the creators. Today, The Losers' Club is proud to present the first of the audio drama's three acts, which begin with the arrivals of a Dark Man, a beleaguered detective, a fire-spewing vigilante, a psychic drifter, and horror's most famous vintage automobile. It's a story as engrossing as it is asinine, and littered with more Easter eggs than you can count on, well, 19 hands. Stream the first episode now and stay tuned for Act II and Act III to follow in the coming weeks. Rest assured, all three acts will be stitched together as one long episode come August.Production by Cat Blackard. Edited by Kyle Orozovich. Episode Notes We're wrapping up Castle Rock this week. We discuss the ethics, aggression and communication styles of possession, what is and is not wrong with Joy, where'd The Kid go, how great Tim Robbins is, Lizzy Caplan's performance and what happened to Nadia and Abdi and Chance, oh my! Episode Notes We get a second historical episodes in as much time and we finally see what's really going on and who has taken over Ace and so many of the town. Angel makes an appearance and all we were told about his character from the first season turn to ashes in our mouths – because they were lies! Annie makes some odd choices – especially for her. Amity is a real witch (the one from Castle Rock – not the other one, at least not anymore). It's a real trip never hearing your name in media for 40 years and then all of a sudden BAM! You're the star. I finally know what all those Malcoms and Raymonds and Petes have known this whole time. Recommendations: Read a book and draw a picture. Episode Notes We've reached 100 – the world of Stephen King Adaptations is seemingly endless and this week we delve into the creamy center of season 2 of Castle Rock and we find out some of the hows and whys of the Ingalls family – aliases abound and a familiar King face emerges. We discuss inappropriate parent-daughter relationships, the chemical changes in a depressed body, narcissism and so much more! Episode Notes In our 99th Stephen King episode we get into the meat of Castle Rock Season 2. There's a lot going on – join us to talk about it! Episode Notes We head back to the great white north (eastern version) as we dig in to the second season of Castle Rock. Lizzy Caplan channels Kathy Bates as a young Annie Wilkes and is luminous as our slant protagonist. A prequel that takes place after the happenings on Misery, placed in modern day Castle Rock and Jerusalem's Lot with a cavalcade of shady but familiar characters around her. Episode Notes The Kid is Henry! Henry is Henry! Henry was the Kid! We are all Henry! We get lost in time. It's a whirlwind as we discuss the conclusion of Season 1 of Castle Rock. It's getting timey-wimey whether Lemuel likes it or not. We discuss how portals work, how morals work, whose side we should be on, the rest of the Easter eggs, twists in narrative, and our final thoughts. Episode Notes Apologies if there are speed issues with this episode (half was recorded in high speed – unclear how) but hopefully it's not terrible to listen to – maybe shades of chipmunk? It's because we talk about time non-linearly - Amity reads a poem she composed by simply writing the narrative of episode 7 - she tries to walk us through the plot of The Queen and trouble ensues as our story follows her into her unstuckness in time. We are reminded again ACAB as the police continue to not be a fan of the public they are supposedly serving. We're rapidly getting to the end and some answers. Or are we? Episode Notes We talk a moment about the state of the nation prior to diving back in to the creamy center of this series. There's a lot of cognitive testing and sound talk here, as well as some juicy goss from Jackie and heinous accusations from Molly. Henry follows himself into the woods while Alan follows the Kid's breadcrumbs and Ruth follows her own. The roads are coming together and the intertwining is coming to a head. And why, why would you leave him in the trunk. Episode Notes This week Amity is joined by a “guest host” as we dive further into Castle Rock. What's in Molly's head? How many deaths are recorded regularly in this town? Episode Notes We end this year with a beginning as we start into the first season of Castle Rock. Excited to see the characters from Stephen King's work and the actors from prior Stephen King Adaptations coming together to make an easter egg heavy series full of scares and surprises. We are introduced to Henry Deaver, our hero, the Kid, our antihero??? and a myriad of characters surrounding them that could be good or bad depending on your position and how much you are squinting. This show is a great compendium to reach as we start the downslope of the season and we dive in enthusiastically. Episode Notes When you are working out and having lunch with the corpse of your mother, no matter how psychotic you are, it turns out it makes you realize your situation is untenable. It is that realization that leads us into the endgame for Brady and Bill. Brady has a plan or two, Bill thinks he's at the center, and Josh has a fall from grace. Holly comes through in a way no one saw coming, and it might make you think twice when you underestimate young women. It's not a cliff-hanger, but we will be back to visit Bill and Holly and even Brady again next year. We talk a lot about Joe Hill and all the books, TV shows, movies, and comic books -- yes, comic books! -- he has in the works, not to mention a new trailer for Castle Rock, Season 2, more on The Institution, and a great story about Patton Oswalt turning into a werewolf while skydiving and fighting Mutant Butterfly Hitler ...
