"Send us a message! (questions, feedback, etc.)"Since the late '90's / early 2000's, Passion Music has been blessing the Church with song after song to sing together. And one of its primary worship leaders is our guest Kristian Stanfill.Kristian is the voice you've heard on songs like "One Thing Remains," "Death Was Arrested," "Glorious Day," and "Come to Jesus." He is a passionate, enthusiastic worshipper and worship leader who leads at Passion conferences and at his home church, Passion City Church in Atlanta. There's another part of Kristian's life that became known over the past few years. In November 2020, a few of his closest friends confronted Kristian about his alcoholism. What had started as a crutch/escape from stress and difficult emotions had developed into an addiction and was out of control. What happened next is an amazing story of grace, healing, and recovery. After stepping out of the spotlight for a couple years, Kristian released Make It Out Alive, an album of songs written in his time with God in recovery. More recently he released Come to Jesus, a new collection of worship songs and real-life encouragements.Kristian lives in Atlanta with his wife Kerri and their kids. #kristianstanfill #passionmusic #cometojesus #makeitoutalive #worship #passion #gospel #grace #awaken #awakenrecovery #awakenpodcast #whatwereallywant #wwrw #connection #conversationKristian's websitePassion Music websiteKristian on Instagram Support the showAwaken websiteRoots Retreat Men's IntensiveRoots Retreat Women's WorkshopAwaken Men & Women's support meeting info (including virtual)

In the Long Walk, Director Mattie Do talks about her film that is difficult to put in one box alone. Is it science fiction, fantasy, are there horror elements ? Lots of layers to explore in this interesting film. Not the Stephen King adaptation. #thelongwalk
The gang's all here to bid 2025 a fond (?) farewell. We're ranking the year's horror offerings, from Guillermo del Toro finally delivering the Frankenstein film Levi's waited 30 years for, to Sinners' hot-and-bothered vampires that some of us couldn't be bothered to finish.Weapons confused us until it didn't. The Long Walk made Levi cry. 28 Years Later pissed off Jonathan because The Walking Dead ruined everything. And somewhere in there, we imagined Lloyd the bartender giving Jack Torrance relationship advice.Films Discussed: Frankenstein, Sinners, Weapons, The Long Walk, 28 Years Later, Bring Her Back, Companion, The Monkey, The Ugly Stepsister, Silent Night Deadly Night, Welcome to Derry, Nosferatu, and—of course—Maximum Overdrive.Coming in 2026: Werwolf (it's spelled that way, we checked), Clayface, and whatever nightmare the Pinocchio public domain is cooking up.Give Caleb's wine podcast Natural State of Wine a listen—he's a level two sommelier and will make you a better person, probably.
This episode opens with Nick asking if White Vision can steal wield Thor's hammer. The gang also talks: Dr. Doom, Star Wars: Visions (season 3), new Witcher, Gen V (season 2), The Long Walk, Tron Ares, Hazbin Hotel, and the John Candy documentary. As for trailers, the three talk about: Michael, Star Fleet Academy, Frankenstein, The Bride, and Wonderman. All this plus Nerd Grabs and our legendary comedy. The Long Walk (2025) - one of the best films of the year
Happy holidays from the belly of the beast! This episode we review one of three Stephen King (AKA Richard Bachman) film adaptations this year, THE LONG WALK. It's set in a post-cataclysmic dystopian future where people volunteer for a grueling and dehumanizing endurance test with the hope of being compensated financially by the state which uses the ordeal to prop up national pride. What a nightmare, how does he come up with this stuff? "We have the means to return to our former glory. You boys are the answer. The Long Walk is the answer. When this is broadcast for all the states, your inspiration will continue to elevate our gross national product. We will be number one in the world again!", it's The Who Goes There Podcast Episode #444! Join our Patreon to support the show! As a patreon member you get the episodes early, bonus content, and access to our Discord. It also helps us keep doing it. We recently sent out a bunch of exclusive merch too. Synopsis Strange darling opens with title cards that explain the movie is about a nationwide serial killer's final murders told in six parts. From there we jump into part three in media res with a chase scene with a frantic woman in a pinto is being chased by Kyle Galner in a pickup truck with intent to kill. told non-linearly, you will be quickly be asking yourself are the filmmakers fucking with me? The answer is yes, the filmmakers are fucking with you, so sit back and appreciate it, Review of Strange Darling The first time I heard about this movie was from a Red Letter Media video lauding Kyle Galner. Our patrons have suggested it several times and it finally won the vote. I had high hopes going in and was prepared for a good movie, so I was pleasantly surprised when that is actually what I got. this is a tense and smart thriller that plays with not only the timeline of the plot, but the assumptions of the audience. It explores the themes of consent, trust, sado-masochism, pride, and prejudice. The film is written and directed by JT Mollner who most recently wrote the screenplay for The Long Walk. He does a great job here manipulating audience alliances and revealing just enough information to keep us on our toes. The film looks great, and I was shocked to see that it was shot by a first time cinematographer Giovanni Ribisi. From the dramatic lighting to the old school film techniques, it is a beautiful movie. Kyle Gallner and Willa Fitzgerald lead the movie and although they aren't famous names, they bring top tier performances that highlight the subtlety in the script and sell the misdirections well. Overall, this movie is thoroughly worth your time and I think is one of the best thrillers that I have seen in the last decade. Score 9/10

In this episode of the Nerdy Up North Podcast, we break down The Long Walk and talk about both the book by Stephen King (Richard Bachman) and the movie adaptation. This dark dystopian story is one of King's most disturbing concepts, and we explore how the story works on the page versus on screen. We discuss the plot, characters, themes, and psychological horror of The Long Walk, comparing the book and movie, what worked, what changed, and whether the adaptation lives up to the original novel. From the brutal rules of the walk to its deeper social commentary, we examine why this story continues to haunt audiences. Is The Long Walk better as a book or a movie? Would you survive the walk? Join the conversation and share your thoughts in the comments.
After years of discussions, Taos, N.M. decided to remove Kit Carson's name from a widely used park in the center of town. Carson's renown as a Western frontiersman grew from greatly exaggerated tales in pulp novels and newspaper articles. Only later did his violent exploits against Navajos and other tribes emerge. He was among the main figures in the Long Walk, the forced march of 10,000 captive Navajos. More than a third of them died. In Michigan, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers removed a Washington Monument-style obelisk commemorating the construction of shipping locks on Lake Michigan. The obelisk sat atop the remainder of a burial ground. Lock construction destroyed the main part of the sacred area but the Bay Mills Indian Community and Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians continue to hold ceremonies there. We'll talk with tribal advocates about their years-long work to change how their histories are viewed by the public. GUESTS Jeremy Lujan (Taos Pueblo), Taos Pueblo tribal secretary Jesse Winters (Taos Pueblo), Taos Pueblo second sheriff Dr. Gregorio Gonzales (Comanche and Genizaro), tribal historic preservation officer for the Pueblo of Cochiti Paula Carrick (Bay Mills Indian Community), tribal historic preservation officer for Bay Mills Indian Community Break 1 Music: Take Your Troubles to the River (song) Vincent Craig (artist) Self-titled Release (album) Break 2 Music: She Raised Us (song) Joanne Shenandoah (artist) LifeGivers (album)

Send us a textFifty boys, three miles per hour, and a country that turns suffering into spectacle. We sat down with Stephen King's The Long Walk and followed the road past rules and warnings into the messy questions beneath: who we become under pressure, what we owe our friends, and whether victory means anything when the system owns the prize. We start with the bones of the story—a near-future police state, televised cruelty, and a “voluntary” contest that looks a lot like a draft. From there, we compare the book's ravenous crowds with the film's desolate highways and surveillance lens, and the effect that choice has on tone. The early deaths strip away any pretense of sport, and our debate widens: is the pace a physical trial or a psychological siege? Can you outwalk pain, or only postpone sleep?Characters carry the heart. We wrestle with Balkovich—antagonist, outcast, and a portrait of how isolation curdles into harm. Then there's Pete, a quiet anchor whose empathy reframes the odds, treating each death as a loss rather than a step toward winning. Along the way we tackle the wish at the end of the Walk: what can money never buy, and why do the rules forbid the only changes that would matter? Our argument peaks on the ending—was the final sacrifice noble or selfish, protective love or a theft of agency—and what that implies about vengeance, healing, and the long shadow of war.If you like moral dilemmas, survival strategy, and sharp book-to-film contrasts, this one goes deep. Tap play, then tell us: what would your wish be, and did the winner truly win? Subscribe, share with a friend who loves King, and leave a review with your take on the final scene—we'll feature the best replies next week.

This week, Pastor Kyle looks into Abraham's discussion with God and what he was asking God for regarding the city of Sodom. Essentially, Abraham was praying (aka talking with God), but doing so face to face. Who was he praying for and why? What can we learn from Abraham's interaction with God as well as God's response to his requests?

Edgar Wright's adaptation of a Stephen King book and 80s Arnold Action flick seemed like a perfect match, so why didn't this movie rise to the level of his very best? In episode 364, join Luke Elliott & James Bailey as they unpack what went right and what went wrong in the jump from page to screen. Topics include a rigid plot skeleton, a surprise cameo, some performances that divided our opinions, and finally cast votes on which they ultimately liked better: the book or the movie. "I didn't think I'd be a good fit as a writer if they were going to do a PG version of the story. That's not where my strength lies, so the great thing is that the version Francis [Lawrence, the director] wanted to make was the version I wanted to write. A week later, we had a meeting with Lionsgate, we pitched the project, and they said, let's do it. So, it all happened very fast. It's really not common how smooth that process went," says screenwriter JT Mollner about sharing a clear vision with the film's director for making The Long Walk. On today's episode, we chat with JT Mollner best known for his movie Strange Darling (2023), told in six non-linear chapters, and now The Long Walk. We talk about the challenge and thrill of adapting Stephen King considering Mollner grew up mesmerized by Stephen King's books. He even read Carrie in second grade – a transgression that landed him in the principal's office for possessing obscene material. Mollner also shares a birthday with King so it seems like it was all meant to be. Mollner also shares that he made a decision early in the writing of the screenplay not to stray too far from Stephen King's beloved novel. "I wanted the focus of the movie to be the emotions, and the relationships. And so Francis and I talked about it, and instead of updating it completely, we decided to keep it aesthetically, sort of in the same place where the book was written. We wanted to be very, very faithful to the DNA, however, maybe in a deviated version of reality, where our country had gone in a very different direction at some point," he says. Mollner also talks about growing up in the family business of haunted houses and why he hasn't been interested in making a horror film – yet. To hear more, listen to the podcast.

Stacy and Daynah immediately spiral into a conversation that only lifelong best friends (and overthinkers) could have and take listeners on a ride through health, humor, and high-level existential dread. Their chat about The Long Walk turns into a surprisingly hilarious exploration of why empaths maybe shouldn't watch dystopian movies without emotional support snacks, how masculinity could use a software update, and why community matters even when humanity is… a lot.
