After slaving away at a hot laptop, George and Ailsa bring you a bumper episode out of Til Dice Towers just in time for Christmas. Why not download this while you are travelling home to see family or friends and hear us talking about... well, travelling, as we discuss World Building and how the differing methods of getting around your campaign world can have a whole lot of knock-on effects on the rest of your game. Such Christmas-y topics as Icelandic volcanoes, methods of transport the Simpsons ruined and rock songs about time dilation. Plus you can find out which member of our cast doesn't travel well by sea. After that it's into one of our Elevator Pitch segments which comes with a content warning for suicide, human remains and child endangerment. Here, we take time out of being stuck in a theme park to tell you about a roleplaying game that's about being stuck in a theme park. The game is The Happiest Apocalypse On Earth by Christopher Grey, and we're here to give you some insight on the game from having both read and played it.Along the way we'll catch up with some of our extended cast to find out what they've been up to, discuss the favourite feel good comedy of the Nether Realms, some love for Figment the Dragon, some worrying Secret Santa presents that are perhaps less useful than we'd like, and even a little bonus Christmas gift for our listeners in the form of an extra segment. Plus a sponsored segment with one of our cast giving you a taster of the second series of their own show with a pretty dreadful guest star from the Domains of Dread. In 2020-21, the UK left first the EU and then the 30-nation European Economic Area. Much of the impact has been masked by the coronavirus pandemic but, as that lifts, there will be profound effects on patterns of employment, national strategic positioning, political cleavages and even on the continued cohesion of the kingdom itself. This did not have to be the case. Short of never leaving the EU, there were less disruptive exit models available. Why weren't they taken and why did the Brexit process radicalise between 2016 and 2019? These are the questions Christopher Grey explores in Brexit Unfolded: How No One Got What They Wanted (and Why They Were Never Going To) (Biteback, 2021). Emeritus Professor of Organisation Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, Chris Grey previously taught at Leeds, Cambridge and Warwick and is the author and co-author of nine other books. He stumbled into the Brexit debate during the referendum campaign and started writing a blog (Brexit and Beyond) that soon turned into a must-read - propelling him into the front rank of Brexitologists and earning @chrisgreybrexit 54,000 Twitter followers. *The author's own book recommendations are Heroic Failure: Brexit and the Politics of Pain by Fintan O'Toole (Apollo, 2019) and A Question Of Loyalties by Allan Massie (Canongate Books, 2002 - first published in 1989) Tim Gwynn Jones is an economic and political-risk analyst at Medley Global Advisors. Taco Bell made headlines when it opened a 70-room pop-up hotel in August in Palm Springs, California. It was a marketing scheme that lasted four days. The day The Bell Hotel began to accept reservations, it sold out in two minutes. The guaranteed novelty of staying in a Taco Bell hotel obviously paid off for the company, but it's not the only fast food business that has ventured into the hotel space. Ten years ago, Simon Woodroffe, founded YO! Sushi, which delivers food on a conveyor belt and has robots that deliver drinks. Woodroffe went on to use his technology and design prowess to co-create Yotel hotels with Gerard Greene. Yotel began with technology-enabled sleeping cabins at airports. Today, Yotel Hotels & Resorts is a sustainable hospitality company that recently launched an ambitious plan to expand its presence around the world. In this episode we talk with Hubert Viriot, CEO of Yotel Hotels & Resorts for the past five years, about the company's growth strategy. Also featured is Christopher Grey, chief technology officer at Intelity, which recently teamed up with Yotel to scale its innovative, tech-forward guest-services platform. And we include some audio clips of Woodroffe talking about the early vision for Yotel.
After founding/selling multiple companies, Christopher Grey decided to get into Angel investing. Now, he has one of the best angel rates there is with only 3 out of 40 of his investments failing. Typically, around 50-90% of Angel investments end up failing so his rate of only 7.5% is insane. Throughout the episode, we cover his company CapLinked, what it's like to be an angel investor, how to properly vet companies, and what it takes to succeed in the entrepreneurial world. For more information in his company, check out https://www.caplinked.com/ Be sure to check out the WeStrive App on IOS, Android, and if you're a personal trainer check us out at WeStriveApp.com to see if you want to sell your fitness plans or train privately on WeStrive.

Secrecy at Work: the hidden architecture within our organisations. Laurie Taylor talks to Christopher Grey, Professor of Organization Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, about his study into the secrecy which is woven into the fabric of our lives at work - from formal secrecy, as we see in the case of trade and state secrets based on law and regulation; informal secrecy based on networks and trust; and public or open secrecy, where what is known goes undiscussed. Also, drug taking and employment: how does the UK anti drugs policy shape our concept of 'employable citizens'? Charlotte Smith, Lecturer in Management at the University of Leicester, argues that drug consumption, in neo liberal times, is positioned as the antithesis of economic potential. Producer: Jayne Egerton.
