900: Jeremy & Rhonda Have Lost Control

Main Street Magic - A Walt Disney World Podcast

Nine hundred episodes. That's a whole lot of Disney opinions, vacation planning, restaurant debates, resort stays, questionable decisions, and unforgettable moments—and somehow, we've made it this far without completely losing control. Until now. For this very special milestone episode, Sean from But Mostly Disney takes over the host's chair and puts us through five rounds of questions, games, debates, and a few mildly uncomfortable moments. With Sean running the show, neither of us knows exactly what is coming next—and that is where the fun begins. We start with a rapid-fire game of “Finish the Sentence,” covering everything from the most unnecessarily stressful parts of a Disney vacation to overrated attractions, misunderstood Disney foods, and the little things we do that drive each other crazy. We also answer the same questions separately to see how closely our answers match after 900 episodes together. Next, Sean tests how well we really know one another in the Main Street Magic Newlywed Game. Can Jeremy identify Rhonda's ideal Walt Disney World resort? Does Rhonda know Jeremy's most predictable Disney food order? If one of us disappeared inside a Disney park for several hours, would the other know where to start looking? We're about to find out. Then it is time for “Keep It, Fix It, Kill It.” Sean gives us 20 Disney attractions, restaurants, resorts, experiences, and Disney Cruise Line offerings, and we must decide whether each one should remain exactly as it is, receive a much-needed update, or disappear forever. From Tomorrowland Speedway and Journey Into Imagination with Figment to the Disney Dining Plan, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Pirate Night, and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, no Disney favorite is safe. The conversation gets a little more personal during the 900th Episode Hot Seat as Sean asks us questions we do not hear every day. We reflect on what each of us brings to Main Street Magic, what we have learned from one another, how this incredible community has changed us, and what we never want the podcast to become. Finally, Sean closes with one question that brings our entire 900-episode journey into focus: When someone eventually listens to their final episode of Main Street Magic, what do we hope they gained from the time they spent with us? This episode is funny, honest, occasionally chaotic, and filled with the kind of friendly Disney disagreements you would expect when we hand control of the show to Sean.

It was one of the biggest weeks in the amusement industry in years, and Mike and EB have a ton to cover. First up: D23 - Disney's biannual fan convention, which featured Neil Patrick Harris hosting a full award-show-style presentation packed with 33 announcements about the future of Disney Parks and Experiences. The guys break down the highlights, including a Carousel of Progress refurbishment featuring new voices from Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis, a Coco-themed attraction (the IP's first ever), a Magic Kingdom Villains Land finally getting its official name, and Dream Finder and Figment returning to Journey Into Imagination at Epcot. But the biggest surprise of the night: Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom will see the return of The Yeti. (HE'S HUGE! HE'S HUGE!) Then it's Quick Hits, where Mike and EB dig into the opening of NightFlight Expedition at Dollywood and the genuinely mixed early reactions — much of it, they argue, coming from riders misunderstanding the ride's intentionally storybook visual style. Plus a live call-in from the base of Top Thrill 2 at Cedar Point, giving listeners a real taste of the launch in action. The back half is a can't-miss exclusive: Silver Dollar City's Director of Content and PR, Joey Thorsen, joins the show fresh off the announcement of Miner's Mountain Express, walking through a full POV narration of the ride, introducing its brand-new skunk and bat mascots, discussing the final year of the beloved Thunderation before it closes in January, breaking down how the new Daredevil Pass connects two previously separated areas of the park, and telling the wild true story of how the ride's real 15-story mining head frame ties back to America's 250th anniversary.

They dig into Tropical Americas, Piston Peak, Villains Land, Monstropolis, Figment and Dreamfinder's return to EPCOT, and Disney's surprising promise to finally address Expedition Everest's Yeti. Then Jim looks back at the history of Disney-MGM Studios' Ewok Village, its connection to Star Tours, and the unusual road that brought George Lucas' galaxy to a Hollywood-themed park. NEWS • Disneyland plans a Tomorrowland overhaul inspired by the land's original sense of hope and optimism. • Disney California Adventure's Pandora project moves behind Tomorrowland while Avengers Infinity Defense, Stark Flight Lab, and the Coco attraction continue taking shape. • Walt Disney World reveals new details for Tropical Americas, Piston Peak National Park, Villains Land, and the phased opening of Monstropolis. • Dreamfinder and Figment are headed back to EPCOT in a still-mysterious new “flight of fancy” into Imagination. • Disney says Expedition Everest's long-static Yeti will finally be addressed, though exactly what “fixing” the figure means remains to be seen. FEATURE • Jim traces the 1989 opening of the Ewok Village at Disney-MGM Studios, months before Florida's Star Tours began carrying guests to Endor. • Learn why Florida's Star Tours wound up at the Studios instead of Tomorrowland and how Disney tried to make George Lucas part of the park's identity. • The story explores George Lucas' inspirations for the Ewoks, the abandoned Wookiee plans for Return of the Jedi, and Disney's enthusiasm for the franchise's most marketable forest dwellers. • Plus, Jim revisits unrealized ideas including a Sci-Fi Channel UFO headquarters and the Roger Rabbit-themed Toontown Transit simulator. Send us Fan MailD23 2026 is in the books, and this week on The Mickeyphile Podcast, we're looking at the good, the bad, and the occasionally very awkward from Disney's biggest fan weekend. We watched D23 from Walt Disney World and came away with plenty to talk about. Disney brought portions of the event to Disney+ this year, but with dozens of panels happening throughout the weekend, why did fans at home get to see so few of them? We talk about the streaming experience, what Disney got right, and why an event billed as the ultimate Disney fan event still felt surprisingly difficult to follow from home. Then we get into the panels themselves. The 35th Anniversary of Beauty and the Beast was easily one of the highlights. Alan Menken, Susan Egan, Paige O'Hara and members of the film's creative team looked back at the making of an animated classic, the Broadway production, Howard Ashman's incredible influence, and some fascinating behind-the-scenes footage from the original recording sessions. This is Disney celebrating its history at its best.We also watched the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 panel. We're fans of the series—or at least we were before we forgot to watch Season 2—so did the new season presentation convince us that it's time to catch up? We talk about what worked, some strange panel questions, a few production miscues, and why Percy Jackson might be exactly the kind of newer franchise D23 needs to embrace. And then there's the big one: Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase.Neil Patrick Harris hosted an evening filled with Parks announcements, musical performances, celebrity appearances…and a few moments that didn't exactly appear to go according to plan.We break down the Walt Disney World news, including:Figment and Dreamfinder returning to Journey Into ImaginationDisney finally promising to fix the Yeti at Expedition EverestNew details for Villains LandMore information about the Cars expansion at Magic KingdomMonstropolis coming to Disney's Hollywood StudiosTropical Americas and the new Indiana Jones attractionUpdates coming to Spaceship EarthCarousel of Progress and its new voicesNew Disney Cruise Line shipsThe return of The Imagineering StoryAnd a whole lot of projects we've heard about before…without nearly enough datesThere was plenty to be excited about. But after years of hearing about some of these projects, did Disney actually give fans enough new information?Plus, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Gloria Gaynor, Disney on Broadway, Neil Patrick Harris channeling the Carousel of Progress, some questionable wardrobe choices, and a presentation that occasionally left us wondering whether anyone had rehearsed. So after three days of D23, are we actually more excited about the future of Disney than we were before it started?Join Scott and Karen for Episode 262 of The Mickeyphile Podcast as we talk about what D23 2026 got right, what it got wrong, and what we're still waiting for Disney to tell us.Follow The Mickeyphile PodcastInstagram & TikTok: @mickeyphile_podcastFacebook: Search The Mickeyphile Podcast for our Page and GroupYouTube: @mickeyphilepodcastEmail: mickeyphilepodcast@gmail.comTheme song: “Cân Ddelwedd”Written and performed by Scott Daves© 2026 Scott DavesAnd remember…Stay in the dang boats!

We're creating our own inaugural Walt Disney World Legends class and inducting the attractions, experiences, places, and people that have truly earned legendary status at Walt Disney World. Before recording, we each secretly selected one nominee across 10 different categories without knowing what the other person picked. Now it's time to reveal our choices, make our cases, and ultimately agree on just ONE official Legend in each category. If we happen to nominate the same thing, the decision is easy—they're automatically in! But when our picks don't match, we have to debate until one nominee earns the induction. We start with Attraction Legend before turning our attention to something Disney fans spend plenty of time experiencing: the queues. From there, we tackle Resort Legend, Dining Legend, and Snack Legend before moving into the entertainment and transportation that have become such an important part of the Walt Disney World experience. We also dig into the sounds and music that can instantly transport you back to the parks as we choose our Audio Legend, debate which Disney character has earned legendary status specifically at Walt Disney World, and finish by honoring the Cast Member roles that have become just as iconic as some of the attractions themselves. These aren't necessarily our favorites or even what we think is the “best” today. We're considering longevity, impact, nostalgia, innovation, historical significance, guest connection, and what has become truly synonymous with Walt Disney World. Ten categories. Two nominees. One inductee in each. Who makes our inaugural Walt Disney World Legends class—and which of our picks will cause the biggest disagreement?

Eric and Lauren are back from Anaheim with a firsthand look at the highs, lows, long lines, virtual queues, and very passionate Disney fans of D23. They break down what worked at the convention, what frustrated attendees, and whether the experience is worth the trip. Then they turn to Disney's Parks presentation, where exciting updates involving Figment, Dreamfinder, the Expedition Everest Yeti, and more sometimes got lost inside an unusual celebrity-heavy production. From Alan Menken and Bedknobs and Broomsticks to merchandise resellers and one unforgettable Reddit discussion about convention hygiene, this is D23 from his, hers, and your perspective. HIGHLIGHTS • D23 brought together theme park fans, collectors, cosplayers, gamers, movie fans, and nearly every corner of Disney fandom. • Eric and Lauren compare the convention's virtual queues, reservation system, merchandise lines, and the planning required to get the most out of the weekend. • Resellers and professional line-waiters sparked frustration as high-demand D23 merchandise became increasingly difficult for some guests to access. • Attendees suggested fixes ranging from tighter purchase limits to badge-linked reservations and better communication. • Transportation to the Honda Center became another pain point, including reports of lengthy delays when a shuttle bus broke down. • Eric and Lauren review the D23 Parks presentation and question whether its talk-show-style production delivered enough substance for hardcore Disney fans. • Neil Patrick Harris, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Gloria Gaynor, Los Lobos, and other performers gave the presentation plenty of spectacle, though the pacing sometimes overshadowed the announcements. • The return of Dreamfinder and Figment generated excitement, but the lack of specifics left fans wondering exactly what Disney has planned. • Expedition Everest's long-broken Yeti is finally getting attention, giving longtime Disney Parks fans one particularly memorable announcement. D23 2026 delivered a mountain of Disney Parks news—but how much of it is actually coming, and how much is still blue sky? On this episode of Magic Our Way, we break down the biggest reveals from the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, including the return of Figment and Dreamfinder, changes coming to Spaceship Earth, the future of Disneyland's Tomorrowland, Villains Land, Tropical Americas, Piston Peak, Monstropolis, the Expedition Everest Yeti, and more. But rather than simply running through a list of announcements, we're asking a bigger question: When should a Disney announcement become a promise? To find out, we pull the receipts from D23 2022 and 2024. What did Disney announce? What actually got built? What changed along the way? And what can projects like Avengers: Infinity Defense and the long development of King Thanos teach us about Disney's five-, ten-, and even fifteen-year planning horizon? Was Horizons 2026 filled with blue-sky ideas, or did Disney give us a glimpse at projects sitting at very different stages of development? We discuss, debate, and decide which D23 2026 announcements we'd actually bet on becoming reality. What are your thoughts? Email us at show@magicourway.com, call or text  815-MOWICAN (669-4226), or slide into our social media DMs. Every thought and opinion will forever be welcome on this Disney fan podcast. Lauren and Eric audit Disney's major D23 parks announcements from 2019 through 2024 to see which projects opened, changed, stalled, or quietly disappeared. Using their new “D23 Promise Meter,” they examine the difference between blue-sky concept art and projects concrete enough to influence a future Disney vacation. They also look ahead to the 2026 showcase, weighing likely updates for Villains Land, Piston Peak, Tropical Americas, DisneylandForward, Figment, Tomorrowland, and other rumored projects. The big question is whether Disney needs another wave of announcements or simply needs to prove that its existing plans are moving forward. HIGHLIGHTS • Lauren's audit tracks dozens of Disney Parks announcements from the 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024 D23 events. • The D23 Promise Meter separates blue-sky ideas from named projects, active construction, and confirmed opening dates. • Piston Peak, Villains Land, Tropical Americas, Monsters, Inc., and Disneyland expansion plans still need important details. • Eric and Lauren evaluate community predictions involving Figment, Tomorrowland, Spaceship Earth, Animal Kingdom, and a possible resort near the parks. • The hosts debate whether the 2026 showcase should reveal new attractions or focus on delivering what Disney has already promised. From a purple dragon born out of a Kodak sponsorship to the world's most popular tortilla chip — sometimes the best Disney magic happens when nobody planned it…..and a little Corporate Sponsorship Synergy! In this video, we're looking at four accidental icons that only exist because a corporation made a deal with Disney: Figment, Orange Bird, Dole Whip, and Doritos. All started as products of a Disney Parks sponsorship. All ended up way bigger than the contracts that created them. Kodak, the company that helped us get Figment, was one of Disneyland's Original 33 sponsors — the companies that made the park possible in 1955. I'm launching a Patreon-exclusive series called Club 33 that digs into every single one of them. If you want to go deeper on the corporate histories that built Disneyland. Hangin' at the Hangar Bar -- A Disney Adults Podcast

What does Scott's perfect day at EPCOT look like? We're finally finding out!But first, we kick things off with a little Disney news that couldn't be more perfectly timed. Disney has ordered a pilot for a new Disney+ series inspired by Spaceship Earth. We talk about what we know so far, why Candice was initially VERY excited about the idea (until Scott explained what kind of show it might actually be), and whether we like Disney taking original theme park ideas and turning them into new stories instead of always bringing existing movie IP into the parks. And yes, if they make a show about Spaceship Earth and nobody thanks the Phoenicians, we may have a problem. Then it's time to officially begin Scott's Perfect Day series! We're starting at EPCOT, but before we can enter the park, Scott has some decisions to make. What time of year are we visiting? Where are we staying? And after debating Old Key West, the monorail resorts and Beach Club, Scott makes a potentially dangerous discovery: if this is his perfect vacation, there's absolutely nothing stopping him from planning a split stay. With Beach Club chosen as our starting point, we head into EPCOT for Scott's perfect day — and surprisingly, he starts by slowing things down. We're talking an early Garden Grill breakfast, Living with the Land, Soarin', time actually exploring the aquarium at The Seas, Figment, Journey of Water, Spaceship Earth, Guardians of the Galaxy and plenty of time to wander instead of racing from attraction to attraction. Then, of course, there's the food and drink.A brat and beer in Germany. A tequila experience at La Cava del Tequila. Wandering World Showcase without over-planning every stop. Bread and cheese from France to enjoy with a beer in the UK. And somehow Scott manages to temporarily forget about one of his favorite EPCOT treats — much to Candice's disbelief. As evening arrives, Scott starts repeating a few attractions for a very specific reason: he wants to experience EPCOT after dark. That means another ride on Living with the Land, another walk through Journey of Water, and eventually settling into GEO-82 for drinks, food and a view of the nighttime spectacular — followed by one of Scott's favorite Disney experiences: letting everybody else leave first. This isn't about squeezing every attraction into a single day. Scott skips Mission: SPACE, Space 220 and Test Track, and he's not willing to call the newest version of Frozen Ever After part of his “perfect day” until he's actually experienced it.It's about building the EPCOT day that feels perfect to him — good food, favorite attractions, drinks, plenty of wandering, and enough breathing room to actually enjoy being there. Now we want to hear from you:Go back and listen to Candice's Perfect EPCOT Day and tell us — whose perfect day would you rather join? And what would you change about Scott's day? Which attraction did he leave out? Where would you eat? What's an absolute must-do on YOUR perfect EPCOT day?Come hang out with us on Facebook, Instagram and Discord and let us know! Thanks for hanging out with us at the Hangar Bar. This week on Geekin' on Walt Disney World, I'm joined by two good friends from the Disney podcasting world — Scott and Karen from the Mickeyphile Podcast — for one of those conversations that feels like hanging out in the parks with your Disney pals. We start with a fun day we shared together at Epcot, including time relaxing in the DVC lounge above Figment, catching some live music, and getting a special early look at Soarin' Over America. And yes… there were gasps. Big ones. Scott and Karen bring a ton of Disney experience to the table. They're in the parks often, Scott is a cast member, Karen is deep into the travel planning world, and together they have that perfect mix of Disney knowledge, food opinions, cruise love, and geeky little details that make these conversations so much fun. Planning a Disney Vacation? If you're thinking about planning your next Disney vacation and some Epic Universe… My wife Margita and our good friend Auntie Judy are the Travelin' Tiaras — your trusted Disney travel planners. Whether you're booking Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Universal, or beyond, they'll help you plan a smart, stress-free vacation from start to finish. Already booked? You can transfer your reservation to us and still get expert tips, strategy, and support — and it's a great way to support the show. TravelinTiaras@gmail.com Or reach out on Facebook Messenger. In This Episode We talk about: Our spoiler-light reactions to Soarin' Over America Why the DVC lounges are such a great hidden perk Favorite current Disney experiences, including BoardWalk, Chefs de France, Citricos, and fireworks cruises Underrated gems like Tiffins, PeopleMover, Little Mermaid, and the Fort Wilderness Segway tour What cast members do behind the scenes to create unexpected magical moments Why Disney Cruise Line feels like “Disney at its best” Palo brunch, cruise fireworks, ship horns, and emotional embarkation moments Planning advice from Karen, including why flexibility matters and why choosing a resort only by price can backfire One of my favorite parts of the episode is hearing Scott talk about cast member pixie dust — those little surprise moments that can turn a guest's day completely around. We also get into what cast members appreciate from guests, and it's a really sweet reminder that kindness goes both ways in Disney World. Then the conversation shifts into Disney Cruise Line, and you can hear how much Scott and Karen love that experience. From Palo brunch to fireworks at sea to the moment your family name is announced when you board the ship, they explain why cruising with Disney hits people emotionally in a way that's hard to describe until you've done it. But the heart of the episode comes near the end. Karen shares that Disney is the place that helps her forget about everything else for a while — the place that brings her true happiness. And I think a lot of us Disney Geeks understand that feeling. It's not always about riding every ride or having the perfect plan. Sometimes it's sitting on a balcony at BoardWalk while it rains. Sometimes it's hearing the Disney Cruise Line horn. Sometimes it's walking under the Disney World sign and feeling your shoulders drop. And sometimes it's just spending time with friends who get it. Join the Geekin' Family What Disney experience keeps calling you back? Is it a resort, a restaurant, a ride, a cruise, or a simple little moment that just feels like home? Come share it with us in the Geekin' on WDW Facebook group — we'd love to hear your story. And if you've got a Disney trip report, cruise story, or special Disney memory to share, I'd love to have you come on the show. We're sipping a Ginger Pear Snap inspired by Liberty Tree Tavern and doing something we've wanted to do for a while: ranking our favorite Disney ride music from worst to first, with plenty of friendly arguing along the way.We get into what makes theme park music powerful, whether you rank tracks by how “iconic” they are or by how they feel when you're actually on the attraction. That takes us through everything from queue and exit music to full ride soundtracks and medleys. We talk Figment and One Little Spark, the pull of Pirates of the Caribbean, why Grim Grinning Ghosts can be top tier even if Haunted Mansion is not your personal must do, and how modern Disney music like Nothing Can Stop Us Now already feels like a classic earworm. We also hit Guardians of the Galaxy from both angles, since a rotating playlist means the ride is the experience and the song at the same time. You'll hear why “I Want You Back” on Mission Breakout works so well, why “Disco Inferno” on Cosmic Rewind is a perfect synced moment, and how nostalgia heavy staples like Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow and the Enchanted Tiki Room keep earning replay after replay. When we wrap, we share a few listener favorites and ask for more because everyone's list tells a different Disney story.Subscribe for more Disney parks talk, share this with a friend who always hums ride songs, and leave us a review. In April and May of 1986, Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe walked the streets of Bloomington and recorded Lifes Rich Pageant at Mellencamp's Belmont Mall Studio in Brown County.* So how could we resist getting in the wayback machine to dig up some stories? David Brent Johnson, our college rock oracle, led us back to 1986. Along the way we heard from Zirque Boner, James Combs, Mark McCormick, Kelly Walsh, Barb Stahl, and Lawrence Wells.  *By the way, that's not a typo. According to music journalist Tim Peacock, "Peter Buck stated: 'We all hate apostrophes. Michael insisted, and I agreed, that there's never been a good rock album that's had an apostrophe in the title.'" "Talk About The Pageant: When R.E.M. Fireworks before sunrise, yoga in the cold, and a finish line that felt like a farewell—this Disneyland race weekend had a different kind of electricity. We open with Miss Piggy's cameo on the castle screen and roll straight into the expo's virtual queue scramble, a quick detour through misplaced bib drama, and a check-in with Jeff and Barbara Galloway that left us optimistic and grateful. Between merch scarcity, the Dumbo hoodie frenzy, and smarter PhotoPass ops, the weekend balanced magic with mechanics in classic runDisney fashion. The 5K reminded us why the west coast course is beloved: quiet fireworks, a park-start and park-finish, and sunrise over Pixar Pier. A surprise “balloon lady” sighting and a late-course cut around Avengers Campus created some confusion, but the joy still landed. The 10K leaned into imagination—Sorcerer Mickey everywhere, Figment looping in our heads, and backstage Easter eggs like the Tower of Terror sign and A Bug's Life props. Photo lines moved faster, and runners helped each other grab those castle shots when photographers cleared out near the back. The half marathon tied it all together. Early laps through DCA, then a thoughtful route across Anaheim with out-and-backs that turned the race into a reunion. The 501st brought free hugs and big energy; third-shift custodial cast cheered like pros. We talk pacing with run-walk-run, efficient PhotoPass at small world and Millennium Falcon, and the thrill of a fast finish that also marked a 100th RunDisney medal. The DCA picnic-area meetup overflowed—cookies, bracelets, and the best conversations of the weekend—proof that this community keeps the magic alive long after the medals are hung.We close with the question on everyone's mind: will runDisney return to Disneyland? Some of us think yes, but not soon; others felt a real goodbye in Carissa's voice. Either way, the stories, tips, and friendships from this weekend are here to keep you moving.
