“The partnership puts young people at the centre and not brand … we should all be working together to achieve Mission, rather than brand awareness or the size of our turnover or how many staff we employ.” Frank Fletcher is CEO of The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. The Trust supports young people with cancer, engaging them in outdoor activities, to help re-build their confidence and their lives, after cancer. We talk about how the Trust pivoted to a Virtual Summer during 2020 and what it has learnt during the pandemic in order to better support young people recovering from cancer. We discuss the Trust's newly formed partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent (now Young Lives vs Cancer) - a fantastic example of leaving brand differences at the door to truly focus on what is best for young people. Frank shares his learnings on establishing this formal partnership and strongly encourages other charity leaders to follow suit. Recorded May 2021.

Happy New Year everyone, we hope all listeners (and stalkers) are well and still collecting vintage Star Wars items during these Apocalyptic times. All the hosts are still alive however Jason has collected so much stuff that a hole in his collecting room wall has opened up as the 1980s has created a time vortex and is starting to reclaim certain parts of his collection.  Our guest this month is Dutch collector Marc Kuin. Marc discussed the early days of collecting Star Wars in the Netherlands and his struggles trying to locate any items in the wild. We also cover his love of Stormtroopers and unexpected path to die-cast vehicles and hunting. We launch Vintage Rebellion Swap Shop. Vintage Rebellion Swap Shop is a new monthly feature where during 2021 (from January to December) we will attempt to raise a lot of money for CLIC Sargent. Using the notion of the Swap. Jason has kindly offered a Bib Fortuna Vintage Pen Topper to kick us off. All we ask is you offer us something a tiny bit better (vintage Star Wars preferably, but if you want to offer a brand new car, then thats cool too). Then, in December we will sell off our final swapped item and give all funds to CLIC Sargent. Contact us via facebook or social media with your offer. If we get a load of offers, we'll discuss next month and decide. Could be fun and raise money for a great cause. How far can we go? Richards Rebel Briefings are actually fairly brief but packed in very nicely. There are a couple of cracking Palitoy bulk finds, a Uzay mystery, a book funding success and something a little cheesy so expect Andy Preston to jump on that.  Licensee section is about our love for all things Japanese with a look at Takara, we find that Mr Andy Spoons is more than just a fan of Godzilla, but an avid collector of the range. We reminisce about Japanese cartoons on kids TV back in the day. And theres other stuff such as our collecting targets for the year. Don't forget to check out the youtube version, put together by our Video Wizard Chris Porteous https://youtu.be/bTSTxOZJTTA

Almost ten years ago - to the day! - Izzy Ball came on her first Trust trip. She sailed from the Isle of Wight while in recovery from Hodgkin lymphoma. Every year since, she's made space for the Trust. She became a regular at residential trips as she returned to sail time and again. Then, when the time came, she became a volunteer, able to provide support from the perspective of someone who had been there herself.Alongside all this, she and her family have been dedicated fundraisers for the Trust (and our close partners CLIC Sargent). As well, she's graduated with a degree in teaching, having began her journey with the Trust before she even started secondary school. We hope you enjoy Izzy sharing her story. It's a fantastic insight into a long-term and ongoing relationship with the Trust and how that changes over the years. It's also eye-opening to hear about the different ways the Trust fits into people's lives as they grow and and bring something different with them every time. Cheers to ten years, Izzy. We can't wait for the next one.

As the dust begins to settle, charities may be wondering what the future holds. Now past the initial upheaval, there is time for reflection: what has happened so far, what does the future look like and what can be learnt from your charity’s response to COVID-19? In this episode, our three guests come together to discuss their own learnings. They reflect on where we are right now and how they believe organisations can begin to work towards both an immediate and long-term future, including the challenges this may come with. Vicky Charles (Associate Director of Technology at CLIC Sargent), Simon Davey (Managing Director at Omega Alpha) and Barry Antwi (Technical Manager at Coopsys) all offer professional insight into how charities can make use of what they’ve learnt and take this forward into their long-term goals and strategies. Transformation has been seismic for a huge number of organisations. Yet, despite the unprecedented and unfortunate circumstances surrounding these changes, the recent pandemic has been a catalyst for a positive change in many charities when it comes to digital. The question is now how to harness these changes and move forward. ________________________ This podcast is supported by CoopSys, the IT enablers for Charities. In the final podcast of the season, Krys, Greig and I start off by discussing the Scottish Cup final. We discuss our personal highlights from the season as a whole and our expectations for next season. Every week we do a charity bet, where McBookie generously supply us with the bet, and we announce that Clic Sargent will receive the winnings from the season. They will receive £333, which will hopefully go a little way to helping them continue to do a good job at helping out those in need. Thank you to McBookie for providing us with the charity bet, thank you to our guests, thank you to our regular co-hosts – Laurie, Greig and Krys – and thank you for listening. The podcast will return next season. Enjoy your summer.
