Alex Moss and Burton DeWitt are back with a new episode ahead of the Premier League Darts play-offs! The boys start this week's show with a look ahead to the Premier League finale at The O2 and discuss whether anyone can stop Luke Littler from retaining the title, before making their semi-final and final predictions for Thursday night's play-offs in London. Bradley Brooks (14:25) calls in ahead of playing on the European Tour in Leverkusen this weekend. The former PDC world youth champion reflects on the last few years, from breaking his duck on the Development Tour and being on the wrong side of that historic nine darter by Willie Borland at Ally Pally to losing his tour card, having a year off the PDC tour, regaining his tour card at Q-School this year and getting back on the big stage at the World Masters. Alex and Burton then give their thoughts on Michael van Gerwen missing out on the Premier League play-offs for only the second time in his career, before picking out their favourite Phil Taylor moments after 'The Power' announced last week he was retiring from playing darts. Stowe Buntz Jr (51:13) calls in to discuss making history as the youngest ever CDC tour card holder. The recently-turned 16-year-old looks back on his landmark success at CDC Q-School earlier this year, joining his dad Stowe Buntz on the CDC tour, his dream to play at Madison Square Garden on the World Series, as well as the prospect of facing his dad at some point during the CDC season. The boys finish off the show with a dip into the mailbag to answer your listener questions. Send us a textSeason 2, Episode 38We are delighted to welcome this weeks guest Angharad Binder(Public Health Nurse) in the agricultural sector, delivering the Rural Communities Cancer Project with Farming Community Network (FCN) & Macmillan in the South East of England.Resources (‘Nip it in the Bud' campaign)People in rural communities often have more advanced cancer when they are diagnosed and are 5% less likely to survive than people in urban areas.Farmers often won't get checked until the last minute. We need your help to change this. This campaign have developed a range of resources which can be utilised to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage early detection, and to back our campaign. A truly inspiring woman, Jo Moseley shares her journey with me about how finding a new type of movement played a pivotal role in changing her life direction and helped her overcome sadness. We discuss the catalysts that led her to embrace stand-up paddle boarding, including perimenopause and personal loss. Jo talks about the paddleboarding challenges she set herself, including a coast-to-coast journey and fundraising efforts. She emphasises the transformative power of movement on mental health and finding joy in the small things, as well as the support she received from friends and family. In our conversation, Jo also shares her passion for beach cleans and the positive impact they have on the environment and personal well-being. She emphasizes the sense of agency and purpose that comes from making a difference, meeting others, and being part of a community. Jo is a truly relatable person who set challenges to move herself forward and in so doing, made a hugely positive change in her life. About this week's guest: Jo Moseley is a 59 year old single Mum of two grown up sons from in Yorkshire. After a difficult perimenopause that left her crying in supermarket aisles and the grief of losing her Mum, Jo rowed a million metres and marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support in her memory in 2014. In 2016 she started paddleboarding having injured her knee earlier that year. She knew immediately it was something very special and for the first time in months she “felt like a warrior not a worrier.” Three years later Jo became the first woman to paddleboard 162 miles coast to coast fundraising and picking up litter. A film about that challenge called Brave Enough - A Journey Home to Joy has been screened to a great reception online and at prestigious adventure festivals, which is available to rent or buy. Her first book SUP Great Britain (as above) was published by Vertebrate Publishing in June 2022 and was the first GB guide dedicated to paddleboarding. It soon became a bestseller. As a result she was invited to write a book about paddleboarding in the Lake District which will be published in spring 2024. Jo is currently setting herself a #FeelGoodJoy challenge to do a Headstand a Day until she's 60 - which will be December 2024! In this video, the speaker, Dan, who has autism and ADHD, shares three tips for navigating sensory overloads, a common challenge for autistic individuals: 00:00 Intro 00:50 Use Noise-Canceling Headphones: Dan recommends carrying noise-canceling headphones like the Apple AirPods Max to block out sensory triggers in noisy environments, helping to reduce overload. 01:24 Prioritize Comfort Over Fashion: When traveling or in situations where comfort is essential, Dan suggests wearing comfortable clothing like pajamas or sweats. You can change into more formal attire when necessary, providing a sense of control in unfamiliar environments. 01:57 Wear Sunglasses: Sunglasses can help in social situations and offer relief to those with light sensitivity. They also provide a way to avoid direct eye contact, which can be challenging for some autistic individuals. 02:24 Outro If you're reading this you're a hero! Comment “I am autistic!” so I can notice you! Not Autism Spectrum Disorder - Understanding the Sensory Crisis, but 7 steps to equal healthcare (sensory overload), but Dr. Wendy Chung Describes Details of Sensory Processing in the Autistic Brain, but AUTISTIC Sensory Overload - How It Impacts My Life As An Autistic Person, or any other video like Dr. Tracey Marks, Macmillan Cancer Support, Child Mind Institute, Orion Kelly - That Autistic Guy would make. My guest for this episode is Gemma Ellison who currently works as a Senior Talent & Leadership Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support. However, Gemma didn't start her career within HR. She had studied Law at university and went on to become a solicitor. An opportunity presented itself when she spoke up about the culture within the law firm she was working at where she was told to 'do something about it'. Gemma subsequently wrote a three year strategy to drive the changes she felt were required.Interestingly, Gemma had always had an interest in Culture, Leadership, and the improving workplaces so this sliding doors moment presented her with an opportunity to follow her passion and she has been helping various businesses since. This is a very candid and fascinating conversation. Gemma shares pivotal periods in her life that contributed to her working career and some of the challenges and obstacles she has had to endure and overcome.I really want to thank Gemma for being so honest during our recording as it enabled some deep conversations that make for a riveting listen. I hope you enjoy it.Support the show

My podcast got hijacked!!! I loved this... the fabulous David Greenaway and Gemma Ellison did a takeover of Beyond the Water Cooler and put me in the hotseat to celebrate 50 episodes. Actually, to my relief, it was a great discussion involving all three of us, about what has changed in the world of work since my first episode. And importantly we get to grips with some of the challenges companies are grappling with right now, to help them move forward. Did you know... ‼️ 72% of leaders report they often feel used up at the end of the day, an increasing sign of burnout from 60% in 2020?* !! Leaders who trust their senior leaders are 3 times more likely to develop novel ideas or solutions. But, the level of trust in managers and leaders, especially in hybrid workforces, is at crisis point?* !! Psychological safety is still a critical need in many organisations, and when leaders regularly display vulnerability, their employees are 5.3 times more likely to trust them?* Listen to our advice about how to rethink some of the key concerns that are getting in the way of talent attraction and retention, people development, mental wellbeing, employee experience and employee engagement. These are the top concerns for CEOs, so can you afford not to disrupt the status quo? *Source: Global Leadership Forecast 2023 More about Dave As a Life in Business & 3 Principles coach, Dave is deeply committed to helping others discover the innate wisdom and well-being within themselves so they can improve their business and life. The 4th of February is World Cancer Day and in Northern Ireland, RNIB have teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support in order to tackle some of the barriers to timely cancer support for blind and partially sighted people. From the symptoms of cancer you might miss if you can't see, to inaccessible health information, this partnership will work to improve the support provided to people with sight loss screening for or experiencing cancer. RNIB's Joke Kenny finds out more about the See Cancer Differently Project from Gillian Clifford, NHS Engagement manager at RNIB and Sarah Christie, Policy and Public Affairs Manager at Macmillan. In today's episode, we're joined by Gary McKee 'The Marathon Man'. Gary has been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support for almost 20 years. He's cycled through Brazil, climbed Kilimanjaro, trekked through New Zealand, walked across hot coals and rowed the equivalent distance of the English Channel and then back…And that's not all! In 2021 to celebrate Macmillan's 110th birthday, Gary ran 110 marathons in 110 days. So for 2022 he had his sights set on a bigger goal - to run 365 Marathons in 365 Days! With the support of his family, friends, and community, Gary is changing many lives for people affected by cancer! What a way to end the year! Join us in congratulating Gary on such an incredible achievement, and if you have £1 or £100, whatever you can donate his Just Giving page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/threesixfive Looking to buy a RunPod tshirt? linktr.ee/runpod
Gary McKee has run 9,355 miles so far this year, raising more than £320,000 along the way so far. It's all part of his efforts to run a marathon every day in 2022, fundraising for MacMillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home Cumbria along the way. Gary is hoping to raise £1m, and is now just 12 days away from completing his incredible challenge. Running Tales first spoke to him back in June. We chatted about how previous endeavours have seen him cycle across Brazil, climb Kilimanjaro and trek through New Zealand - and how running has always been at the heart of his fundraising. With the finish line in sight, we just had to catch up with the Marathon Man for our final episode of 2022... ---------------------------------- You can find Gary's fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/threesixfive If you like this episode please consider donating to help us keep going: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/stepforward The music in this podcast is: "Fearless First" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

‘Living with Ovarian Cancer Podcast' is full of inspiring stories told by people who are living with or have a connection with Ovarian Cancer. Each person's story is a gift; unique and is told from the heart in their own words. I am your host, Diane Evans-Wood. Please subscribe to the Podcast and leave a review so that the show becomes more visible to listeners. In this episode I am going solo as I don't have a guest with me this time. I have had seven Christmas's with Ovarian Cancer, so I know what it's like to cope with the rollercoaster of emotions and physical demands of the holiday season. Plus, I had many years of experience as a Palliative Care CNS and saw how my patients coped with this time of year too. So, in this episode I am hoping I can share with you the benefit of my wisdom from my nursing days but also from my own personal experience with cancer how I have coped. Please know that you are not alone. Whatever feelings you're experiencing over the holiday season, you can guarantee that there are many others going through similar with you. Try to go with the flow knowing that “this too will pass” and these feelings will almost certainly fluctuate in intensity. Much, much love to you all! This month I have a special guest Laura Briggs Laura has just completed The Macmillan Way (23rd July) - 290 miles from Boston to Abbotsbury - run it in the fastest known time (6 days) First of all Laura can you tell us a little bit about your previous running experience, what kind of running have you done in the past, and a little bit about yourself? And why did you set yourself the challenge to run the McMillan Way in the Fastest Time? Mo was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 40, and told the devastating news that she had only weeks to live. That was back in 2017. The cancer had aggressively spread from the breast to include the stomach, lungs, kidney, bowel, skin, bones and eye orbital and was categorised as a terminal stage 4 secondary cancer. Her initial diagnosis was extended to a few months, with the onset of weekly chemotherapy. Six years on and amazing Mo is still undergoing palliative care treatment through Yeovil Hospital's Macmillan Ward, and is still able to enjoy a decent quality of life with her wonderful husband Ben. As most of you will know, I love running. I've always wanted to run a challenge for a really good reason, and I couldn't really think of a better reason. Mo can't run right now - she can't even walk up hills so well, but she still has a quality of life together with Ben, and that's been made possible thanks to Macmillan Cancer Support. So, while Mo can't run, I can run for her. And I'm going to run The Macmillan Way - a 290-mile trail which runs from Boston in Lincolnshire, to Abbotsbury in Dorset. I plan to run it in the fastest known time - which at the time of writing, I don't think is even recorded. So I'll take it as a first. So you had the 23rd July in your diary to do this record attempt, what training where you doing building up to it? Let's go through this epic journey - What time did you start? - Big send off? - Nervous, excited, apprehensive - Number of miles ran per day? - Did you run it all or walk sections? - How much did you sleep? - Navigating – Garmin GPSMAP 65s .gpx file of route 1:1 Zoom with Andy what did he cover with you ahead of the challenge piecing together the .gpx files yourself, top of the class for doing this - High point/ low point At any point did you think I am not going to complete this? What kept you motivated What did you eat? Planned out meals? If you did it again, what would you do differently Many thanks, Laura for joining me on this special GPS Training podcast, if people want to find out more about your journey please visit - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/briggsy1

Fundraising is second nature for Gary McKee - he's raised close to £1m for Macmillan Cancer Support. Previous endeavours have seen him cycle across Brazil, climb Kilimanjaro and trek through New Zealand, and plenty of his challenges have included running. He's run from Lands' End to John O'Groats, completed 100 marathons in 100 days, become the first person to run the Fred Whitton cycle route and finished seven London marathons. His current challenge is set to eclipse all of those - so Running Tales had to catch up with him...
