In this powerful and emotional episode of Undressed with Pol' and Patrik, we sit down to share the full story behind the terrifying road rage attack that happened to us on March 29 in Hollywood — a moment that could have changed our lives forever physically, but did so emotionally. Our Palm Sunday morning started beautifully. We were on our way to the Hollywood Museum to meet students from Woodbury University and members of Best Buddies International for a special field trip. The day was perfectly planned: museum visit, a stop by the boutique, a coffee reading later, and that evening we were excited to attend the Hollywood Heart of Gold event hosted by Kym Whitley and Caroline Rhea honoring Ben Vereen. Driving through Hollywood with SnowWhite90210 in the car and music playing, we passed the Netflix soundstages and started talking about the premiere we had recently attended for the series 'Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen'. As we drove past the posters, Patrik read the title out loud — “Something very bad is going to happen.” We laughed about it in the moment and said we needed to finish watching the show later that night. Little did we know those words would become the eerie foreshadowing of what was about to happen to us. Moments later, while stopped at the light at Melrose and Vine, a vehicle suddenly pulled into the intersection and blocked traffic, trapping our car. The driver jumped out, rummaged through the back of his truck, and stared at us with an expression of pure rage. Within seconds he approached our vehicle and violently punched the driver's side window just inches from Pol's face. The impact shook the entire car. Blood appeared on the glass from how hard he hit it. Snow White jumped in fear. In that moment we genuinely thought we might not survive if the glass shattered. The man then kicked the vehicle, screamed threats, and sped away before attempting to circle back toward us again. Patrik immediately began recording while Pol' focused on driving safely and calling 911. Determined not to let the attacker disappear, we carefully followed long enough to capture identifying details that ultimately helped police begin their investigation. Later in the episode we talk about the aftermath — filing the report, working with detectives, and the overwhelming response after we shared the video online. Support poured in from around the world as listeners, friends, Celebrities, Pol' Atteu Clientele and coffee reading clients reached out with prayers, love, and even crucial information. We also answer listener questions about what we said to each other after the attack, why we still honored our commitment to the students that day, and why we felt it was important to speak out publicly. Even though Maddy Reynolds was not a runner, COVID-19 spurred her and her homebound friends to start running around the limited area they were allowed to in their neighborhood in Sydney, Australia. On a lark, they decided to run their own marathon. Once racing resumed, Maddy ran an actual marathon. Then she was encouraged to try trail running and next racing. You can see where this is going. Maddy eventually took the risky leap, quitting her secure job as an investment banker to become a full-time runner. By 2023, successes started to accrue. After a runner-up finish in the Six Foot Track Marathon, one of Australia's most prestigious races, Maddy was chosen to represent her country at the World Mountain and Trail Championships in Austria. Her crowning result for the year was winning the UTMB Ultra-Trail Kosciuszko 50K. She followed up that ascendent year with a string of top-10 trail race finishes in 2024, including a win at the Trail de Lac d'Oô in the Pyrenees. Like any upward trajectory, there were bumps in the road. Maddy suffered a stress fracture in her calcaneus, or heel bone, following Kosciuszko. The most serious, though, was after she sustained a serious bacterial eye infection due to a contact lens mistake. Doctors considered removing her eye, but were able to save it, although her vision was severely fogged over. Amazingly, Maddy continued to progress despite very limited depth perception, certainly a huge impediment for a trail runner, leading to numerous falls, including a cracked kneecap. Just last week came a double-dose of positives. First, Maddy's doctors got her a new kind of contact lens that has restored her sight. A truly “Holy Crap, I can see” moment. Ironically, it's the same kind of lens that has also salvaged my vision. Using her new visual acuity, Maddy finished second in New Zealand's UTMB Tarawera Ultra-Trail 52K. Although the race buildup did not go without some crazy, maybe even hilarious, hiccups, as you'll hear. None of these incidents can deter Maddy, who explains the big chance she took on herself, and led her to move to France with her boyfriend to advance her career. She is a font of positivity, and feeds upon the community that is running. A little bit more of contact for you with a native English speaker who's talking in the way they normally talk and showing you things that they normally do.So that's what this has evolved into, a nice little short four minute lesson twice a week where you can learn a couple of phrases and you can hear me ramble on about everyday things like, for instance, two days of school are done now. I'm actually shooting this on a Wednesday. I know you're watching it on a Friday because I got to get ahead of my work. We have market tomorrow and Friday is rather a busy day as well. Jack Campbell joined AODA in 2017, finding his spiritual home in Druidry. He earned the degree of Druid Apprentice in 2018, Druid Companion in 2020, and Druid Adept in 2022.
