S7E12 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 21 March 2024.  It was full throttle out of the gate with Dio and ‘Evil Eyes'.  We had some new music from Dan Patlansky, Judas Priest and Bruce Dickenson.  Most interesting is a new single from Vended.  I am really digging Vended a lot, sons of Slipknot, literally, Griffin Tayor and Simon Crahan doing their parents proud.   To remind you to get tickets for next year's Green Day, The Offspring, and Fokofpolisikar concert in Cape Town and JHB we again took a quick track from each of them.   This weeks Twisted Twins featured a song called 'Lost in Hollywood'.  The new Judas Priest is out so obviously we continued to rave about that.    This week's Immortals feature was incredible.  Mark Knopfler has assembled 60 musicians, mostly guitarists (he's got Ringo and his son Zak on drums and Sting on Bass), and it is a veritable who's who of guitar.  The track has been recorded by Mark Knopfler and Friends to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.  It's a new version of 'Going Home' (Theme from Local Hero) and, it includes contributions from among others Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Springsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John Mc Laughlin, Brian May, the list goes.  Incredible.       This week's Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘L'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Loverboy – Get LuckyLed Zeppelin – Over the Hills and Far AwayLynyrd Skynyrd – Second HelpingLive – Throwing Copper Artists Featured: Dio, Chickenfoot, Phil X & the Drills, ACDC, ZZ Top, Saxon, Motörhead, The Union Underground, Overkill, Black Tide, Alice Cooper, Doomsday Outlaw, Michael Schenker Group, Guns ‘n' Roses, Volbeat, Rainbow, System of a Down, Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Bullet For My Valentine, Machine Head, Green Day, The Offspring, Fokofpolisiekar, Loverboy, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Live, Metallica, Megadeth, Vended, Piet Botha & Jackhammer, Joe Bonamassa, Dan Patlansky, Pink Floyd. The Story of Rock and Roll. In Carrie-Ann's own wordsI'm taking on the 28 Mile Challenge this September for Teenage Cancer Trust.Sadly my beautiful, brave, stunning, kind girl Alana has relapsed with AML for the 3rd time. I have no words, I am speechless. Walking 28 miles may not seem a lot, but getting up and dressed to face the day like she does is harder than you think. So if you would like to give me another reason to get up and out each day then please donate. Alana is being cared for by the TCT in Cardiff, with too many other young people facing the worst imaginable trauma. I would just like to help give them the best support they can have xEvery day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words "you have cancer". They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. Teenage Cancer Trust are the only UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need - so no young person faces cancer alone.Every £30 raised could pay for an hour of care from a Teenage Cancer Trust nurse, who knows what cancer really means to young people and can provide thoughtful, sensitive, expert support.Thank you for your support https://www.facebook.com/donate/851422696612043/164093836709444This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4110266/advertisement

“The partnership puts young people at the centre and not brand … we should all be working together to achieve Mission, rather than brand awareness or the size of our turnover or how many staff we employ.” Frank Fletcher is CEO of The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. The Trust supports young people with cancer, engaging them in outdoor activities, to help re-build their confidence and their lives, after cancer. We talk about how the Trust pivoted to a Virtual Summer during 2020 and what it has learnt during the pandemic in order to better support young people recovering from cancer. We discuss the Trust's newly formed partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust and CLIC Sargent (now Young Lives vs Cancer) - a fantastic example of leaving brand differences at the door to truly focus on what is best for young people. Frank shares his learnings on establishing this formal partnership and strongly encourages other charity leaders to follow suit. Recorded May 2021.
